Copper metal has important role in the basic industrials, as if it did not exist, modern human life would not develop! Copper leaching, as the first step, is important step in copper production processes. In this research, efficient factors on the leaching have been investigated. For this reason, four efficient factors on leaching namely pH, liquid to solid ratio (L/S), temperature and time, as independent variables, were optimized using response surface (RSM) with D-optimal. A quadratic equation was used to create response and contours. According to the results from analysis of variance (ANOVA), the value of determination coefficient (R2=96.77%) indicates that the model was good fit. Optimum experiment condition also was found: pH of 1, L/S of 8.24, temperature of 26.06 ? and time of 43.64 min. At this condition, the maximum recovery of copper was equaled to 92/38 in which good desirability achieved.

Coal is the most widely used fossil fuel in the world, providing more than 25% of world?s electrical power. Since, the behavior of coal particles in crushing and grinding circuits, concentration operations, and solid-liquid separations is strongly dependent on size, a reliable and accurate measurement of particle size and particle size distribution (PSD) is a vital aspect in coal cleaning. This paper presents a method for the characterization of ground coal particles using image analysis. We utilized a machine vision (MV) approach that used a document scanner as the imaging device and a user-coded ImageJ plug-in that processed the image and automated the PSD analysis and output results in textual and graphical forms. This approach used a sum of volumes (SVolume) as weighting factor for particle length as the primary dimension of analysis and was successfully applied to ground coal. The plug-in was further improved for computational performance in this study. Mechanical sieving (MS) was also used to compare the MV results. MV results showed that the PSD of ground coal followed a uni-modal normal distribution, and the log-normal plot against particle size exhibited a linear trend for most of the range. MS results, however, had three linear segments, when the width-based sieving results were transformed to lengths by applying the shape factor (width/length), but a definite deviation between the PSD plots was observed. This study demonstrates successful application of the MV SVolume approach for PSD analysis of ground coal, which can be extended to similar particulate minerals and products. In the Borborema Pegmatitic Province (Brazil) exploitations of several minerals are conducted by small producers. They use traditional techniques of gravity concentration in small-scale plants as jigs and vibratory tables. During decades the mining activity generated tailings with economic interest in particularly columbite-tantalite. Samples collected in tailing piles of a gravity plant were characterized in mineral composition, which shows in the heavy fraction the minerals spodumene, columbite-tantalite, ilmeno-hematite, garnet and cassiterite. The light fraction presents quartz, feldspar and muscovite. The degree of liberation of spodumene and columbite-tantalite were determined using optical microscopy that presents liberation in 100 µm (90% to columbite-tantalite and 100% to spodumene). Centrifugal concentrator Falcon SB-40 was used for concentration of these minerals and presents 65% recovery in mass to two stages with mass reduction about 85%.

Recent increase in steel demand has led to the increased usage of high grade iron ores. During the mining, crushing and washing of ore, huge quantities of fines and slimes (<150 µm) are generated, majority of which is dumped into tailing ponds owing to their high alumina contents (~10-15%). Due to rapid depletion of high grade iron ore, it is the need of the hour to utilize low grade iron ore fines and slimes. These fines and slimes contain high iron values assaying 45-60% Fe. Dumping these valuable resources in ponds locks enormous land space and causes environmental hazards. The constituent minerals present in Indian iron ores comprise of hematite, goethite, gibbsite, kaolinite and quartz. Our research is focused on beneficiation of iron ore slimes through selective flocculation. We use density functional theory simulations to screen the reagents and perform experiments with screened reagents to determine the experimental conditions for effective performance of the reagents. Our studies revealed that reagents like starch, guar gum and carboxymethyl cellulose exhibit excellent selectivity in high alkaline pH range. However, the higher cost of alkali makes the process economically less attractive. In the present study, a commercial reagent from NALCO Water (Hi-Tex 83570) has been explored as selective flocculant for beneficiation of iron ore slimes in wide pH range (4-11). However, the reagent was also found to be the most selective in alkaline pH range only. Full factorial design of experiments was done considering three parameters namely, pulp density, flocculant dosage and settling time. Regression models were developed for yield, iron grade, alumina grade and iron recovery in the concentrate, using experimental results. Further parameter optimization was done to achieve high Fe recoveries and low alumina recoveries. The optimal parameters thus arrived at were validated with the experiments. We were able to achieve a concentrate grade of 60.0% Fe and 5.1% Al2O3 with 68.8% Fe recovery from a feed containing of 53.1% Fe and 8.9% Al2O3. The performance of flocculant Hi-Tex 83570 was also compared with reagents starch and guar gum.

"Nickel-metal hydride batteries (Ni-MH) are storers of electrochemical energy, which have a higher specific storage capacity than lead or nickel-cadmium batteries. The demand for Nickel-metal hydride batteries is increasing rapidly since their market launch in the early 1990’s. Today there is no suitable and sustainable recycling process to recover nickel, cobalt and rare-earth metals. The discarded batteries are used today in the steel industry as alloy material because they contain nickel. Cobalt and rare-earth metals (RE) are lost; they are non-recycleable.In a German governmental funded research project, IME Aachen, ACCUREC Mühlheim and UVR-FIA Freiberg are cooperating in processing as well as in creating a feasibility study. The target of this project is the development of a new recycling process for metal recovery from Ni-MH-batteries. The proposed process described in this paper consists of a combination of mechanical, pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processing steps. This process is capable of treating all types of Ni-MH-batteries. After comminution steel and organics are separated. The separated Ni-MH is smelted in an electric arc furnace. The products are a nickel-cobalt alloy and a slag phase enriched with rare-earth oxides for further treatment to ‘mischmetal’. Both the Nickel-Cobalt alloy and the ‘mischmetal’ will be directly used in battery production."

Due to the shortage of fresh water in the Middle East, seawater has been used as an alternative in flotation beneficiation. The flotation process requires about 7 m3 of water/mt ore. This article aims to study the effect of seawater cations and anions on the flotation. Natural pure francolite, calcite, dolomite and quartz were characterized by chemical, thermal and x-ray diffraction analyses, surface area, solubility and zeta potential. Synthetic seawater was prepared with the major chemical composition similar to natural seawater as follow; 2.45% NaCl, 0.52% MgCl2, 0.41% Na2SO4, 0.116% CaCl2 and 0.07% KCl. Also, natural seawater was used in application. The point zero of charge was estimated at pH 6.5, 7.8, 9.2 and 2.2 for francolite, calcite, dolomite and quartz, respectively. Calcium ions were released from the three minerals with Mg2+ and P2O5 3– released from dolomite and phosphate, respectively. The adsorption of collector, zeta-potential and floatability of pure minerals were studied. The effect of individual cations and anions predominant in seawater are studied on individual mineral or group. The troublesome Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions should be controlled by soda ash addition. Sodium silicate improved the selectivity of mineral mixtures and natural ore. At optimum conditions the calcareous phosphate ore yielded a concentrate of 34% P2O5, at 83% recovery with 0.61% MgO, from an ore assaying 25.3% P2O5 and 9.4% MgO. The production of minerals for economic use is a two-stage process, involving mining to extract the mineral from the ground, and processing to convert the mineral into a marketable product. Generally, mining and processing have been viewed as self-contained entities. Both have separate objectives, separate cost centres and key performance indicators (KPIs) that do not reflect the customer/supplier relationships that inherently exist. However, mining and processing operations are inter-connected and therefore intimately inter-related with the performance of one operation affecting the performance of another. Optimizing each stage separately without considering the whole system often misses potential economic benefits and energy savings. During the past fifteen years, the authors have been involved in implementing a holistic methodology ?Mine to Mill Process Integration and Optimisation (Mine to Mill PIO)? to maximize the overall profitability of the operation rather than just optimizing any individual process in a mining operation. Metso Process Technology and Innovation (PTI), along with their project partners, have conducted several projects to significantly increase their production- generating typically 5% to 20% higher throughput and improve the overall mine and concentrator performance through PIO methodology. This proven methodology has applications ranging from greenfield projects to long-standing operations with AG/SAG, HPGR or conventional grinding circuits. This paper explains the Mine to Mill PIO methodology and discusses the benefits of such an approach on the energy consumption, the overall costs and benefits of mining operations. The paper also summarizes several case studies illustrating the use of PTI methodology in a variety of applications. A culture-independent approach based on 16S rRNA gene clone library was used to analyze the bacterial community change both associated to the solids and in the liquid phase during pyrite bioleaching process. Phylogenetic analyses of 16S rRNA fragments revealed that the retrieved se-quences mainly related to genus Leptospirillum, genus Sulfobacillus and genus Acidithiobacillus. During the bioleaching process, genus Leptospirillum trends to grow associated to the solids while major of genus Sulfobacillus were in the liquid fase, only accounting little portion in the solids. Genus Acidithiobacillus can grow both on the solids and in the liquid phase, but accounting high portion on the solids.

"The Olserum deposit located in Sweden hosts an indicated mineral resource of 4.5 million tonnes over 0.6 % TREO, exhibiting a relatively high proportion of HREE. Beneficiation of a composite drill core sample was studied in the flowsheet of magnetic separation of magnetite followed by REE minerals flotation. Primary testwork was performed to select an effective REE mineral collector and then the parameters of grinding size, collector and depressant dosages, slurry pH and density, conditioning time and temperature, and flotation time were tested for optimization of REE flotation. The studies of process mineralogy showed that the REE-bearing minerals monazite, xenotime and apatite were successfully enriched from the concentrations of 0.6%, 0.31% and 2.6% in the feed to those of 17.0%, 8.9% and 65.0% in the concentrate with the recoveries of 79.0%, 81.3% and 71.0%, respectively. INTRODUCTION The Olserum deposit located in Sweden comprises lower grade placer material with higher grade apatite-magnetite veins and hosts an indicated mineral resource of 4.5 million tonnes at 0.6% TREO, with 34% of that being HREO (EURARE, 2017). The mineralization was studied by Andersson et al. (2018). At early stage, high-temperature REE is characterized by abundant monazite-(Ce) and xenotime-(Y) coexisting with fluorapatite and subordinate amounts of (Y,REE,U,Fe)-(Nb,Ta) oxides. During a subsequent stage, allanite-(Ce) and ferriallanite-(Ce) formed locally, partly resulting from the breakdown of primary monazite-(Ce). Alteration of allanite-(Ce) or ferriallanite-(Ce) to bastnäsite-(Ce) and minor synchysite-(Ce) at lower temperatures represents the latest stage of REE mineral formation. The mineralogy and beneficiation were firstly studied by GTK Mintec in the EURARE project for a composite drill core sample. The Olserum is considerably smaller than the Norra Kärr deposit. However, REE are hosted by xenotime and monazite, both of which have well established processing pathways, and meanwhile, the Olserum has a high contribution of the high value critical REE (dysprosium (Dy), yttrium (Y), neodymium (Nd) and terbium (Tb)), which provide a unique advantage for its exploration (Tasman Metals Ltd., 2013). Polymetallic sea nodule is a good source of manganese having 22.3% Mn, 5.4% Fe, 6.14% Si, 1.1% Cu, 1.15% Ni, 0.076% Co & others. These nodules are available in plenty on the sea beds, generated over thousands of years. Nodules mainly consist of manganese dioxide and iron oxide phases and other metals are entrapped in the complex cage of these Mn-Fe oxides phases.World-wide research is going on sea nodules as an alternative future source of many metals, which has led to intensified efforts to develop practical and economical processes for recovery of these metals. Very little attempt has been made world over on manganese extraction from sea nodules. We at CSIR-NML, India have developed a direct reduction smelting process of nodules to recover manganese as Fe-Si-Mn alloy. This alloy is extensively used in the steel industry as deoxidizer and as an alloying element to make different grades of steel. Lab scale experiments were conducted to study the manganese distribution between Fe-Si-Mn alloy and FeO-SiO2-MnO-CaO-Al2O3-MgO slag at different temperatures by varying the basicity of the slag. The direct reduction smelting of nodules is carried out on 1 kg scale in 50 kVA electric arc furnaces to have Cu, Ni and Co alloy and Mn rich slag. This manganese rich slag is further treated in 50 kVA arc furnace to produce Fe-Si-Mn alloy. The composition of Fe-Si-Mn alloy obtained is in the range of Mn: 60-65%, Si: 14-17%, C: 1- 2%, S: 0.03% and the balance iron which is acceptable grade for industrial use. The equilibrium amount of MnO in the final slag is controlled by the temperature of the final melt and the silica, lime, alumina content of the final slag. Increasing the basicity of the slag plays a major role in minimizing the loss of MnO to slag, increasing the amount of SiO2 of the slag, increases the manganese loss in the slag. "In this article research on the mineralogical characteristics and beneficiation process for a copper molybdenum deposits in Heilongjiang province of China has been carried out. Chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Quantitative Evaluation of Minerals by SCANning electron microscopy (QEMSCAN) were conducted on samples. The bulk analysis results showed that: (1) Comprehensive recovery and separation of molybdenum & copper minerals was feasible by the flowsheet of first copper-molybdenum mixed flotation after grinding the ore samples to 61.88% -74µm and then separation flotation of copper and molybdenum after regrinding the Cu-Mo mixed concentrate to 83.26% -38 µm. The results highlight relationship between mineralogical characteristics of ore and comprehensive benefication method. (2) the combination of "" Sodium sulphide and sodium thioglycolate "" reagents are effective inhibitors of copper-molybdenum mixed concentrate, their selectivity performance is better than that of single reagent. Good flotation indexes were gained that might be directive experience to similar cases. At present flotation is still the preferred methods to deal with the copper-molybdenum sulphide minerals (Yin, Z., Sun, W.et al. 2017; Ansari, A., & Pawlik, M. 2007; Hirajima, T., Miki, et al. 2017). Copper and molybdenum sulphide ores usually have the similarly good nature floatability(Miki, H., Matsuoka, et al. 2017), meanwhile most molybdenum sulphide ore has tiny grained-size(Castro, S., & Laskowski, J. S. 2015.) and closed relationship with other sulphide and gangue minerals which result in the coper and molybdenum separation problem. Base on the nature of the ore and flotation properties of the individual minerals contained in the ore, there are two methods are usually used to deal with the copper – molybdenum ore, including bulk molybdenum/copper flotation followed by separation of copper and molybdenum minerals, sequential molybdenum/ copper flotation(Liu, G. Y., Lu, et al. 2012). The latter method has the shortcoming of hard to activate the depressed copper minerals in the previous molybdenum flotation process, which may result in a large loss of the copper from concentrate, this disadvantage would avoid while adopting the former method. bulk flotation followed by separation process is to get the copper-molybdenum concentrate from raw ore first then separate flotation the molybdenum and copper minerals, benefit from the excellent floatability of both molybdenum and copper minerals ( Malhotra, D., Rowe, R. M., & Bhasin, A. K. 1986; Cao, Z., Yue, et al. 2017 ), it really easy to obtain the mixed concentrate. In order to get the high quality copper and molybdenum concentrate, the key technologies and difficulties are to realize the separation of the copper and molybdenum minerals which have the very similar natural floatability (Raghavan, S., & Hsu, L. L. 2015; Nakhaei, F. 2014)."

Fly ash is a by-product from coal-fired power stations that is captured from the exhaust gas stream by electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) or bag houses. It is mainly derived from the inorganic components in coal but also contains residual carbon from unburnt fuel (measured as LOI). In the past, nearly all fly ash was sent to landfills or tailings ponds by power generators but this trend is quickly changing due to landfill costs, sustainability requirements and the inherent value in correctly processed fly ash. The main property that makes fly ash suitable for recycling is its use as a pozzolan. Pozzolans exhibit cementitious properties that make them suitable for partial cement replacement, and that can have beneficial properties for concrete mix designs. Fly ash can be used to replace up to a third of the of the Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) requirement. Suitable fly ash nearly always requires the removal of the less reactive coarser fraction from the finer fraction. Due to the pozzolanic nature of fly ash, it must be processed dry and separation is normally required at 45 micron. In response to the increasing demand from a range of dry classification applications, Metso purchased an established air classification technology suitable for both mining and construction applications. The classifiers intelligent design efficiently utilizes the air flow which keeps power requirements low whilst including a scrubbing/recirculating function within the classifier that allows extremely efficient separations even at very fine sizes. This technology is of global interest to Fly Ash processors, but should be of particular interest in India which is both the second largest cement producer in the world as well as producing 80% of its power from thermal sources. This paper is intended to give a brief overview of fly ash and requirements for use as a pozzolan, air classification of fly ash and a case study from an established and experienced fly ash producer. During incineration of municipal solid waste (MSW), various environmentally harmful elements and heavy metals are liberated partly into bottom ash, and partly carried away with the off-gases and subsequently trapped in fly-ash. If these waste incineration residues are not properly processed and immobilized, it can lead to secondary environmental pollution to the air, soil and water. The stricter environmental regulations require a higher immobilization efficiency of the waste incineration residues, which is the main objective of the present cooperation research. Within the present project, a systematic scientific research on various MSWI residues has been carried out, including sampling, low or high temperature processing and leaching tests. In the present paper, the major results have been summarized. The research results reveal that through appropriate combined pre-processing and high temperature vitrification, the bottom ash and fly ash can be efficiently stabilized. The results achieved provide a valuable alternative route to treat the solid residues from incinerators, and to make efficient recycling and safe utilization possible.

"Mineral and industrial raw material mining and preparation make a negative impact on the environment. The main types of impact are the land resources gathering, soil and water balance disturbance, surface-water, underground space and atmospheric air pollution, as well as the vast amount of solid and liquid waste production. Considerable attention in recent decades has been given to waste recycling. The task is to maximize the use of both newly formed and accumulated solid and liquid wastes. The mining and mining and smelting enterprises industrial waters are a very promising source of secondary hydromineralic raw materials. They have high concentrations of not only calcium, sodium, but also, for example, lithium, rubidium, heavy non-ferrous metals. In general, unfortunately, we have to state that today there is no wide practice of extracting valuable components from waste enrichment, as well as processing of man-made waters to extract metals from them. The quantity of extracted components from underground, and furthermore passing waters, is insignificant. At the same time there is a tendency to increased demand for rare metals: Sr, B, Br, I. This is explained by their wide use in many industries. For example, the consumption of lithium products is steadily increasing. The obtained results showed that in the liquid phase in connection with high salt content and a significant difference in the macro- and microcomponents contents, conditions are initially created for the microcomponents selective isolation possibility. The identified conditions realization is most possible in such technological processes as cryotechnology, sorption and ion flotation. There is an urgent need to expand research in this direction and to recognize as a publicly important task the mining and industrial waste processing full-scale introduction into the practice of operating mining and processing enterprises and iron and steel companies.INTRODUCTION Mineral and industrial raw material mining and preparation make a negative impact on the environment. Commercially available flotation technologies for recovery of mineral fines have remained essentially unchanged for several decades. Recent studies have focused simply on improving mechanical and open column cells. Such studies have explored different control strategies and have aimed to improve reagent selectivity, fine air bubble generation and particle-air contact. However, no study has questioned whether current techniques are the most efficient technology for recovering mineral fines. Given that both mechanical and open column cells have a widely accepted carrying capacity limitation, the lack of extensive research into an alternative technology is surprising. Most recently, open column flotation has become an entrenched technology, and it is undermining the efficient recovery of mineral fines worldwide. An alternative exists. Packed column flotation overcomes the above-stated problems as the technology surpasses the carrying capacity limitation of current means by several-fold and almost always achieves the best performance in many comparative pilot tests and full-scale plant operations. Filling a column with packing plates creates a network of sloped walls capable of supporting a froth bed many times deeper than conventional machines. Having froth up to 75 percent of the total column volume tolerates all feed changes encountered in the plant environment and permits maximum flexibility in concentrate quality control. Furthermore, its scale-up is straightforward by increasing column volume or the number of interconnected small cells. As the air breaks upon rising and is distributed horizontally through packing plates, the air spargers can be replaced with a simple blower, resulting in considerable savings in operation and maintenance costs. Packed flotation technology provides a break-through solution for the separation of fine and ultra-fine minerals. Its simplicity, superior performance, and low cost structure make it an appealing alternative to current technologies and allow greater flexibility in downstream processing. Future industrial applications include a wide variety of metallic and non-metallic ores. This paper focuses on some recent scale-up campaigns for nickel and copper sulphide flotation applications compared directly to conventional equipment.

A novel rotary triboelectrostatic separator has been developed and patented recently at the University of Kentucky with unique features, including a high efficiency rotary charger, charger electrification, laminar air flow, etc. A parametric study has been performed with a coal combustion fly ash sample to investigate the effects of major operating parameters on the process performance. Most significant operating variables and optimum conditions were identified. Separation tests performed with four fly ash samples indicated that the rotary triboelectrostatic separator showed effective fly ash separation.

"The thermochemical technology for recovery gold, silver from mature flotation tailings of pyrite ores by two-stage sintering with chlorine-ammonium reagents and leaching of bakes with water is developed. The economic effect of the technology implementation is calculated. KEYWORDS Gold and silver recovery, mature flotation tailings, pyrite ores, chlorine-ammonium reagents, leaching INTRODUCTION The relevance of processing the technogenic reserves of ore mining and concentration wastes accumulated over the long operation periods of mineral deposits is beyond doubt. Hundreds of tons of precious and non-ferrous metals that were not recovered during the primary processing are concentrated in the accumulated wastes. For example, tailing storage facilities (TSF) at the mineral processing plants in the Southern Urals region of Russia hold more than one hundred tons of gold and thousands of tons of silver in the mature flotation tailings (MFT) of copper pyrite ores. Secondary processing of technogenic materials is facilitated by the fact that they are preprocessed — ground and compactly deposited on the surface, but complicated by the low (compared to ores) grade, uneven distribution of the valuable minerals, altered and unstable material composition of the mineral feed. This leads to low recovery rates of valuable metals by conventional physicochemical processing methods. It is necessary to develop innovative methods of deep integrated processing of industrial wastes, based on the study of the material composition of specific technogenic mineral resources and based on ensuring the environmental safety of the resulting secondary waste. MATERIALS AND METHODS The object of this study are the MFT of Uchaly Concentrator in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, which processes copper pyrite and copper-zinc ores. According to the data of particle size, chemical, X-ray phase, and optical microscopic analyzes, samples of the MFT are characterized by considerable particle fineness (the fraction of the size class -41 µm is 89-90%), low grade of gold (1.7-2.0 g/t) and silver (18.0-19.5 g/t), comparable grades of iron (23.0-26.8%) and sulfur (28.1-28.7), but different grades of copper (0.12 - 0.73%) and zinc (0.34-1.26%). The most common mineral in the samples is pyrite (50 - 56%), found in intergrowth with grains of other sulfides (0.1-4%) - sphalerite, tennantite, chalcopyrite, covellite. Quartz and aluminosilicates are the dominant rock minerals (21-36%). Based on the results of the phase analysis, it was established that approximately 70% of the gold in the samples is found in a form that is resistant to cyanidation — it is locked in sulfides (52-56%) and quartz and coated by films. Along with sulfides and rock minerals, common gold and silver minerals (chalcogenides, intermetallides, native gold) in the form of submicro- and nano-sized precipitates are also associated with intergrowth of a complex structure. These features of the material composition allow classifying the MFT of the pyrite ores as a mature feed material and emphasize the need for chemical non-cyanide methods to recover gold and silver from the mature minerals and associations they are found in."

"Lithium discovered in La Vi deposit, Quang Ngai province in the Central of Vietnam was estimated with a reserve of approximately 1.5 million tones of lithium ore, which was characterized by mainly lepidolite with muscovite, albite, and quartz. This study investigated reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions of enrichment technology for lepidolite from the mined ore by flotation process, and producing Li2CO3 and LiCl from lepidolite concentrate by hydrometallurgical process. The significant conditions for froth flotation of lithium ore including particle size, pH of ore slurry, pulp density, chemical spending (collectors, activators, depressants, and frothers), stirring and flotation time were investigated. The identified reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions for froth flotation the La Vi lithium ore processed lepidolite concentrate containing up to 4 wt.% Li2O with a recovery of 87.61 wt.%. The processes of sulfation roasting lepidolite concentrate using FeSO4.7H2O, then leaching in H2SO4 solution, and removing impurities were carried out to prepare a pure lithium-bearing solution for producing Li2CO3 and LiCl. The products containing 99.05 wt.% of Li2CO3 and 99.02 wt.% of LiCl were obtained with recoveries of 82.97 wt.% and 85.77 wt.%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that lithium ore in La Vi deposit can be processed to produce commercial lithium products and lead the study to develop technology for a new industry of lithium processing in Vietnam.INTRODUCTION Lithium is the lightest metal, which has many superior properties in both metal and compound (such as Li2CO3, LiCl...) states since its discovery in 1817 by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson. Lithium is a favourable material for many high technology fields such as aerospace industry and chemical industry. Some industrial fields which present the main consumptions of lithium include ceramic, glass, aluminum alloy, lubricants, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, synthetic rubber, and pharmaceuticals. The worldwide production of lithium in 2014 was 31,700 tones, continually increased in 2015 of 5% presented 32,500 tones (USGS, 2016). The demand for lithium tends to increase because of the raising in consumption of lithium batteries. Lithium is mined from salar brines, mainly in Chile and Bolivia, but also from granites and pegmatites, which contain minerals with high lithium content such as spodumene - LiAlSi2O6 (Heinrich et al., 1978; Linnen et al., 2012); petalite - LiAlSi4O10 (Sitando & Crouse, 2012); zinnwaldite - KLiFe2+Al(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2 (Paukov et al., 2010; Kondás J. & Jandová J., 2006); lepidolite - K(Li,Al)3(Si,Al)4O10(F,OH)2 (Luong et al., 2013); and amblygonite - LiAlPO4F (Garrett, 2004)."

"There is abundant rare-earth element(REE) in our country, but it is very fragmented in the earth's crust, and it is very difficult to mining or mining cost is extremely high. There are few of industrial value rare-earth deposits. There is a lot of concomitant rare-earth deposits, and the comprehensive utilization value is high. There is very rich carlin-type gold resource, associated with a certain amount of REE in the southwest of Guizhou province. In order toutilize comprehensively the resources, this paper conducts the study on the occurrence characteristics of REE in the ore. By the chemical analysis, the gold grade is 3.35g/t, the organic carbon 0.81%, the total REE 0.022%, which is a high carbon fine disseminated gold ore. By the optical microscope and XRD analysis, the major minerals are quartz, pyrite, calcite, limonite, arsenopyrite, mica, kaolinite, clay minerals, etc. In addition, there is a large amount of carbonaceous materials, such as organic carbon, graphite, which is harmful on leaching of gold. By the scanning electron microscopy analysis, there are thorium, lanthanum and neodymium, ytterbium, persimmon and other REE in the ore. Gravity separation shows that REE could be enriched to lighter material mainly, which indicates that REE disseminate closely with lighter materials.INTRODUCTION Carlin-type gold ore is important gold resource in the world, which are mainly distributed in Nevada and its vicinity, as well as the two Golden Triangle of Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu province in China(Su W.C. et al.,2009; Xia G.X.,1996).Guizhou carlin-type gold ore is the second largest gold resource in the world(Muntean J L et al.,2011), distributing along the southwestern margin of the Yangtze plate, mainly mineralizing in the neopaleozoic-early mesozoic(Xie Z J et al.,2017). Many large gold deposits have been found in southwest in Guizhou in twentieth century, such as Zimuyou,Getang, Lannigou, Shuiyindong and Laowanchang gold deposit, and so on, and the gold reserves reach over 100 tons(Xia Y. et al.,2009).There is a certain amount of rare-earth resource in the carlin-type gold ore in the southwest in Guizhou province, and the current researches might mainly focus on characteristics of REE from the angle of geological mineralization(AnanyevY.,2015), not from the angle of separation and enrichment."

Biosorption of heavy metals can be an effective process for the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. In this study, the adsorption properties of nonliving (boiling in NaOH) biomass of phanerochaete chrysosporium. For Pb (II) and Zn (II) were investigated by using batch adsorption techniques. The effects of initial metal ion concentration, initial pH, biosorbent concentration, stirring speed, effect of temperature and contact time on biosorption efficiency were studied. Experimental results indicated that the uptake capacity and adsorption yield of one metal ion were reduced by the presence of the other metal ion. In the experiments the optimum pH value was found out 6.0. The experimental adsorption data were fitted to the Langmuir and Frundlich adsorption models. The highest metals uptake was calculated for Zn (II) and Pb (II) were 57 and 87 respectively. desorption of heavy metal ions was performed by 50 mM HNO3 solution. The results indicated that the biomass of p.chrysosporium is a suitable biosorbent for removing heavy metals ion from aqueous solution.
