OZ Minerals' Prominent Hill copper-gold concentrator is located 650 km north-west of Adelaide in the Gawler Craton of South Australia. The concentrator was built in 2008 and commenced commercial production in early 2009. The Prominent Hill concentrator is comprised of a conventional grinding and flotation processing plant with a design capacity of 8 Mtpa. The flotation circuit includes six rougher cells, an IsaMill for regrinding the rougher concentrate and a Jameson cell preceding the three stage conventional cell cleaner circuit.Since its commissioning, the Prominent Hill flotation circuit has been the focus of a series of projects aimed at continual performance improvement. This has been achieved by a systematic approach of project identification, evaluation and implementation which has led to a progressive improvement in flotation performance. Innovations that have been successfully implemented include aspects of cell design and operation, and reagent suite optimisation.Improvements to the mechanical cells initially focused on the installation of a modified rotor-stator design in the rougher circuit, as recommended by Outotec. Isolated cells were fitted with this technology and proven to provide a benefit for copper recovery before the design was trialled in subsequent cells along the bank. Based on this success, further modifications were made to other aspects of the rougher and cleaner cells.Laboratory trials conducted at Prominent Hill involve a screening process identifying potential reagents from a list of products, which are then rigorously tested in the laboratory before one is selected for trial in the concentrator. Where these reagents have demonstrated a statistical improvement in performance they have typically been incorporated permanently into the flotation circuit. The top submerged lance (TSL) technology, developed in the 1970s, is now widely used for the processing of a range of materials. The key advantage the ISASMELT™ TSL technology provided was the ability to process feed materials in a highly turbulent bath, reaching close to equilibrium conditions, uniquely allowing for operation below the liquidus of the molten slag phase. The details on what happened below the liquidus line in the phase diagram became critical for the successful operation of the technology. During the development of the ISASMELT™ technology this led to a collaboration between the Process Technology group of Mount Isa Mines, now part of Glencore Technology, and the Pyrometallurgy Research Centre (PYROSEARCH) at The University of Queensland. The fusion of the phase equilibria research into the technology development allowed for understanding of the behaviour of molten splash, reliable tapping of the furnace, and the ability to operate the furnace with a refractory lining and achieve a year campaign life in excess of four years. The outcome has allowed for the highly successful adaption of the ISASMELT™ technology to recycling of complex feed streams necessary to drive circularity in our modern global economy.

The Société Nationale Industriel et Minière (SNIM) is expanding its ore and concentrate production capacity in Mauritania, West Africa. This government-controlled mining company has been in production since 1963 and currently exports some 12 Mt/a.SNIM is presently doubling its magnetite concentrate production at the Guelb el Rhein mine. An existing processing line will have a second parallel production line of 4 Mt/a added. The mine is located some 600 km inland from the Atlantic coast in the heart of the Sahara Desert.The metallurgy of the ore is reasonably straightforward. It is a magnetite banded iron formation that is amenable to magnetic separation. While the existing plant uses semi-autogenous grinding and dry magnetic separation, the new processing line will use HPGRs, dry magnetic separation, and a wet milling and magnetic separation circuit for treating middlings.The process choices refl ect the scarcity of water in the region, the high cost of locally generated power and the operating experience and preferences of SNIM. Dust control in the desert environment has been a particular challenge.The metallurgical design aspects as well as the infl uence of the environmental and commercial aspects of the project are presented.

Blastholes fired in a pattern with a constant initiation delay create a frequency in the ground vibration similar to that from a percussion instrument, such as a drum, in the air. A constant firing delay generates a prime or forcing frequency into the ground motion. The forcing frequency may then be modified by ground transmission characteristics into subharmonics of the forcing frequency. The moving vibration source between blastholes also creates a frequency shift because of a Doppler effect. Other wave interactions may form beats. The effects are exacerbated by the accurate firing times of electronic detonators. This paper demonstrates how observations of wavetraces and frequency spectral analysis were used to recognise:Doppler effect and frequency ellipsoidssubharmonics (and sub-subharmonics) of the forcing frequencybeat formation that may double or triple peak particle velocity (PPV) levels.Recognition of beats permitted techniques to be used to control ground vibration from coal overburden blasting to limits deemed to cause no further instability in a slip failure. "Fluidised-bed flotation has been demonstrated over the last 16 years as an effective method for improving the flotation recovery of coarse particles. This technology has been successfully deployed into the industrial mineral sector with multiple installations within phosphate beneficiation plants and potash mills. Due to the minimal mineral surface expression required when utilising this technology, more recent studies have centred on the applicability of using this HydroFloat™ technology for the recovery of coarse sulfides and base metals. Multiple approaches have been investigated to determine the best means for implementing this novel coarse particle flotation system into both existing and new plant circuitry. These include the treatment of tailings to recover values that have been lost using conventional technologies and also the direct treatment of a coarse feed, either within the grinding circuit or by use of a separate split-feed flotation approach. Recent applications of the technology will be presented along with data generated from several test campaigns and ongoing research investigations. The oxidation of sphalerite particles of 60 to 100 mesh size was studied in a fluidized bed of low 02 concentration at 900¦C. Par- tial pressure of 02 in the fluidizing 02-N2 gas mixture was chosen between 0.0009 and 0.02 atm. In the region of p02 between 0.008 and 0.02 atm, the oxidation rate was lowered with the decrease of p02, and the unreacted-core model was applied. At lower pbelow 0.008 atm, the reaction rate was enhanced as compared with the calcu- lated values from the unreacted-core model. From microscopic examination, it was found that ZnS was evaporated at the particle surface and the dissociated Zn vapor was oxidized in the gas phase. Initial reaction rate and the distance between the surface of inner sphaler- ite core and the oxide shell were studied based on the model of enhanced oxidation.

Mine and facility closure planning is a dynamic and rapidly evolving landscape. In this landscape, mining companies and industry consultants are generally good at estimating the associated earthworks and rehabilitation costs, because it is æcore businessÆ. Through our extensive work in mine closure, we have found that the safe and cost-effective demolition of mining related infrastructure is often grossly underestimated. Or alternately, it is simply assumed that the returns on scrap steel and the sale of re-usable plant will cover the related costs. With fluctuating steel prices and no guaranteed buyer for the assets, the estimated monetary return is often unreliable and in many cases unrealistic. On this basis this logic is fundamentally flawed. We have found that on most occasions this has meant that closure cost estimates fall well short of what the actual costs are to close the mine.GSSE and Liberty Industrial have worked on over 60 mine closure projects in Australia and overseas of varying scales and across a range of commodity types. An evaluation of these projects has shown that costs associated with the safe demolition and removal of a mining related infrastructure is in the order of 20 - 30 per cent of the total cost at closure. We believe it is one of the top three risk areas associated with mine closure planning and cost estimation, alongside bulk earthworks and the capping of tailings and waste rock storage facilities.Our paper uses examples from recent projects to demonstrate all aspects outlined above. We have also endeavoured to address the following key points related to the demolition and removal of mining related infrastructure:If companies fail to plan appropriately, complicating factors such as contamination, hazardous materials, mobilisation/demobilisation, geographical location, decommissioning standards, site constraints and weather, can add considerable costs to the project and result in variations for the demolition contractor.Closure planning often assumes infrastructure that is no longer required can be utilised by a third party and/or the new land holder. Reporting Codes are not prescriptive on methodologies to report or classify Mineral Resource Estimation results, but the assessment of risk and uncertainty is required, and is likely to be increasingly important in future Code updates. The 2012 JORC Code indicates that relative confidence in tonnage-grade estimations should be considered for classification, and that there should be a discussion of relative accuracy and confidence levels in the Mineral Resource Estimate. These considerations are also relevant to the drill hole spacing required for various classification categories, along with other geological and data quality criteria. This paper summarises the theory, principles and current practice of various drill hole spacing analysis techniques for both achieving a desired level of resource categorisation and for optimising grade control or resource drill-out costs. The authors provide practitioners with a guide in their use to assess uncertainty and relative accuracy, as illustrated by a number of case studies. While all drill hole spacing studies rely on the assumption of consistency of the continuity model from current to future drilling, the range of methods available provide much more objective outcomes than previously adopted ‘rules-of-thumb’.

The use of saline water for mineral beneficiation in arid regions is general practice and also the case with Exxaro Namakwa Sands, situated on the west coast of South Africa. Although it is ‘cost effective’ to use sea water for mineral beneficiation, downstream process separation efficiencies may be negatively affected. This is more specific to surface dependent separation techniques such as electrostatic and high tension (HT) separation. If minimal fresh water is available then, proper washing is often neglected. Salt crystals can form on particle surfaces during the drying process before electrostatic separation.This paper describes a study that has been conducted to determine the effect of upfront salt water processing on downstream electrostatic/HT separation. The study indicated that minor quantities of salt can cause the separation efficiency to decrease substantially.

Vitrinite of humic source (often designated as vitrinite A) is the maceral by which the rank of a coal ought to be determined. Therefore its recognition, and the precise identification of other vitrinites is essential. The majority of Australian petrologists are not differentiating between the vitrinite group macerals in maturation studies, the results of which have led to unexplained phenomena in coal characterisations and evaluation, such as 'reactive inertinites' and inaccurate predictions in petroleum source rock studies. The Callide coal has been chosen as a case study, with examples from other coals. The coal seams from the Callide Coal Measures show variation in the predominance of some macerals, indicating successions of environmental changes. The application of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to the study of the Callide coal has enabled a better understanding of the nature and origin of some of the less understood macerals such as micrinite and vitrinite B. Two forms of vitrinite have been observed, each with a distinct reflectance range. The wood-sourced vitrinite A displays an average reflectance of 0.56 per cent, and a range of 05. - 0.7, implying a higher rank than the 0.49 per cent Ro total vitrinite reflectance recorded in previous publications. Vitrinite B is one of the most commonly-occurring macerals in the Callide coal. The lower-reflecting vitrinite B which forms bands, often several hundred microns in thickness, in TEM appears to be electron transparent lipid rich. Vitrinite B is interpreted to represent accumulations of leaves, and is believed to be a major source of hydrocarbons in Australian sedimentary basins. The Callide coal has entered the oil window, and oil has been generated from some exinite, cutinite, and resinite, as evident from the amber to light brown fluorescence of exinite and the presence of exsudatinite in cell cavities and cleats. However vitrinite B, the major potential source of oil, is seen under the microscope to be generating oil, thus placing this coal at the top of the oil window. Micrinite, the origin of which has been much debated, occurs as cell filling or infill of spaces between laminations in vitrinite B.

Arsenic, often associated with precious metals ore deposits, is a major contaminant released during large-scale gold mining. Because of the complex oxidation/reduction and sorption behaviour of As, prediction of the long-term mobility of As in pit lakes is uncertain. The behaviour of As in pit lakes is investigated in this paper by conducting a series of laboratory experiments where As is allowed to adsorb onto pit lakes sediments. Experiments were conducted over a range of pH with both As(III) and As(V) allowed to adsorb onto sediments collected from existing pit lakes found in the three main orebody types in Nevada, USA; porphyry copper, quartz-adularia gold, and Carlin Trend type gold deposits. Results from adsorption experiments show that As(V) and As(III) adsorption is strongly pH dependent with higher uptake at pH 5 and lower uptake at pH 9 for As(V) and higher uptake at pH 9 and lower uptake at pH 5 for As(III). This behaviour, as expected for oxyanions, has been described previously for agricultural soils, iron oxides, and Carlin Trend heap materials. Maximum adsorption of As(V) for the Carlin Trend type gold sediment was 3.0 g/kg at pH 5, 2.0 g/kg for the quartz-adularia sediment, and 0.9 g/kg for the copper porphyry sediment. Maximum adsorption of As(III) for Carlin Trend type gold sediment was 2.5 g/kg at pH 9, 2.2 g/kg for the quartz-adularia sediment, and 2.1 for the copper porphyry sediment. Adsorption isotherms are non-linear and show Freundlich isotherm behaviour. Variations in sorption between the different pit lake sediments under similar conditions can be explained by differences in the elemental composition of the sediment. Most rock forming elements from XRF analysis are similar in quantity except for Fe. The Fe content is highest in the Carlin Trend type gold deposit sediments and lowest in porphyry copper deposit sediments and is the third most abundant element in all three sediments. The Fe content of the sediments correlates well with the amount of As sorption seen in the laboratory experiments.

The Fozichong deposit – located in the south-western segment of the giant Qinhang metallogenic belt, South China – is a large-sized lead-zinc polymetallic deposit. This deposit contains two main ore districts, termed as the Guyi ore district in the north and the Hesan ore district in the south respectively. We present an integrated data set on sulfide minerals, fluid inclusions and stable isotope (H-O-S-Pb) geochemistry to better understand the features and genesis of the Fozichong deposit.Field and paragenetic relationships indicate three mineralisation stages forming the early (Po+Sp+Gn+Ccp+Py+Di+Ep+Qtz), middle (Sp+Gn+Ccp+Py+Ep+Chl+Qtz) and late (Gn+Sp+Py+Qtz+Cal) sulfide assemblages respectively. Mineral chemistry – particularly S/Fe and Co/Ni ratios in pyrite, Zn/Fe, Zn/Mn and Zn/Cd ratios in sphalerite and Pb/Ag ratios in galena – indicates a magmatic association for the sulfide minerals.Quartz and calcite coexisting with the sulfide minerals of various stages host abundant fluid inclusions. Quartz in the early stage contains two- or three-phase CO2-H2O and liquid-rich aqueous inclusions, which have homogenisation temperatures of 162~365°C and salinities of 2.9~17.8 wt per cent NaClequiv, whereas quartz and calcite from the middle and late stages are dominated by two-phase, liquid-rich aqueous inclusions that have slightly lower homogenisation temperatures (153°C~320°C) and much lower salinities (1.0~6.0 wt per cent NaClequiv). Hydrogen isotopes (dD = -59‰~-41‰), analysed using fluid inclusion waters from quartz and calculated oxygen isotopes (d18OH2O = -5.47‰~4.00‰) for the equilibrated ore fluids, indicate that the ore-forming fluids may have been sourced from magma and mixed with groundwater in the late stages. Sulfide minerals have d34S values of 2.3‰~4.3‰, consistent with a magmatic-derived source for sulfur. Lead isotopes (206Pb/204Pb = 18.592~18.794, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.648~15.864, 208Pb/204Pb = 38.909~39.580) confirm that lead and, by inference, zinc were mainly derived from magmatic rocks, with subordinate contributions from sedimentary rocks.Various lines of evidence support that the formation of the Fozichong deposit has close genetic association with the granite porphyry intruded in the late Yanshanian period (106 Ma), and it can be classified as a magmatic hydrothermal type lead-zinc deposit. The potential for bulk diversion was identified and quickly implemented following the development of bulk sensing technologies applied to conveyed flows. In the early 1980s real time analysis of ash in coal was intended to improve the understanding and control of quality variability. By the end of the 1980s approximately 5% of coal analysers installed were being utilised for bulk sorting; diverting flows to create stockpiles to improve blending flexibility and boiler feed consistency, diverting waste material, or bypassing the beneficiation process when the coal met product quality criteria. In the 1990s bulk sensing and sorting utilising natural gamma detection was applied to conveyed waste in gold-uranium mineralisation and allowed ore to be recovered and processed that would otherwise have been discarded. Further applications developed in the iron ore sector where product quality ore could be diverted to bypass beneficiation and save significant unnecessary processing costs and improve recovery by avoiding process inefficiency losses. Plant capacity was freed up to be utilised by material that required processing. Similar benefits became evident in the phosphate industry and in base metals where multi-elemental analysis using Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis provides ideal opportunities to representatively measure 30 second conveyed increments at high accuracies. This has been successfully adopted in copper, nickel, platinum and lead-zinc to improve waste removal after primary crushing to eliminate unnecessary expense and improve plant efficiency. The benefits include increased output from existing operating capacity, significant reductions in consumable costs and generation of fewer detrimental waste streams. The paper outlines the technologies and discusses case studies covering the above commodities, demonstrating the immense value that representative real time measurement of conveyed flows can create. Measurement data concurrently provides multiple benefits in operational performance besides sorting, through ore reconciliation, ore blending, feedforward control and metal accounting, adding further value.

The Misima gold mine, located on Misima Island within the Milne Bay Province of Papua New Guinea, was operated by Misima Mines Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Placer Dome Asia Pacific Limited (Placer), between 1988 and 2004. During this period, the mine produced 3.7 Moz of gold and 22.2 Moz of silver. In June 2012, the Special Mining Lease for the property was surrendered and incorporated into an Exploration Licence (EL). WCB Resources Ltd (WCB) entered into an exploration farm-in agreement with Pan Pacific Copper covering this EL.In June 2013, WCB published a new mineral resource of the Umuna deposit at Misima. All the drill hole data used for estimation was historical data collected by the previous owners of the Misima mine between 1977 and 2001. No new drilling was carried out by WCB. Confidence that the data could be relied on was provided by detailed interrogation of the existing data, reconciliation of the new resource model against production data and significant input from individuals who had previously been involved with the data collection, resource estimation and production activities of the Misima mine during its operation.This extended abstract will consider the challenges associated with locating, retrieving and validating historical data to use as inputs to produce an updated Mineral Resource estimate and comment on the material value of appropriate data storage, documentation and record keeping through the life of a project. It will also comment on the value of WCB obtaining access to the intellectual knowledge of many professionals that were former employees of Placer. "This paper presents a case study demonstrating active geotechnical pit slope management at the now completed Carina Iron Ore Project operated by Mineral Resources Ltd (MRL). The site is located 105 km north-east of Southern Cross, Western Australia. The paper is primarily focused on the slope stability failure modes and the remedial measures employed to maintain mining.Between a quarter and a third of the excavated slopes were impacted by some form of instability that was beyond expectations of the intended slope design criteria and common practice. Ongoing mining was supported by intensive geotechnical pit slope management including close cooperation between geotechnical, mine planning and operations staff to achieve timely and practical mining solutions.Mining encountered varied slope failure mechanisms which required a combination of remedial solutions comprising: horizontal depressurisation holes, deferral of excavation, unloading, buttressing and catch berms.The root cause of the challenging slope performance was a mismatch between the predicted and encountered geotechnical model, resulting from a failure to recognise the critical mechanisms that control slope stability.Despite the extensive zones of instabilities at completion of mining, full ore recovery was achieved without major delays and in a controlled and safe manner.Citation:Fowler, M, Strang, D and Jaine, R, 2016. The decoppering of soft and hard leads was investigated by stirring in an open pot, using sulfur or sulfur plus pyrites, or sulfur plus pyrrhotite, as reagents. Lead samples taken during the process were analysed for copper. Dross samples were examined by optical micro- scope, SEM and XRD. Soft lead containing silver can be decoppered satisfactorily by stirring with 0.1% S at low temperatures - close to 330¦C. Soft lead, whether containing silver or not, can be decoppered satisfactorily at higher temperatures by stirring with 0.1% S plus 0.4% pyrites. Then CuFeS2, Cu5FeS4 and PbS are formed, instead of Cu2S, CuS and PbS when using S alone. Hard lead containing tin can be decoppered satisfactorily by stirring with 0.1% S at temperatures from 320-400¦C. When stirring with 0.1% S plus 0.4% pyrites, reversion of copper from dross to lead on prolonged stirring does not occur. Hard lead without tin can be decoppered with S plus pyrites better than with S alone, but the presence of antimony hinders the decoppering, which is less effective on lead with 5.5% Sb than with 2.3% Sb.

The binary indicator coding of assay and lithological data according to a single criterion or multiple criteria is a powerful technique for representing mineralised shapes through the modelling of probabilities. This can be as simple as using a single indicator to model the probability of occurrence of a condition, usually a grade threshold or a lithology, but it can also be used with a number of categories. Case studies are presented to show the power of this approach, where the geological controls on mineralisation or on the distribution of a rocktype or alteration, often coupled with mineralisation, are unclear. The categorical approach is often used as a de facto grade filter in disseminated or stockwork mineralisation. The ultimate expression of the indicator formalism is in multiple indicator kriging (MIK), where a conditional distribution of probabilities is generated for each estimation panel. This has applications in recoverable resource estimation, as the input for continuous or categorical simulation, where the distribution of sample grades is multimodal, or when there are superimposed mineralisation events with different orientations. However, in some cases, MIK is being used as an excuse for ignoring a quality geological interpretation. Examples from the public domain show the abuse of the categorical and MIK approaches to modelling probabilities, together with a plea for greater consideration of the geology.

Evaluation of the construction method used for the pedestrian underpass construction at Ipswich Road, Brisbane, Australia is presented in this paper. The pedestrian underpass was constructed through the existing railway embankment between Harrogate and O’Keefe Streets on the eastern side of Ipswich Road. This underpass construction is part of the CLEM7 tunnel project (formerly known as the North-South Bypass Tunnel) which is the longest toll road in Australia at a total length of 6.8 km. The jacked box construction technique was initially identified as a preferred option during the tender and concept design phases. However at the final design stage, the cut and cover technique was selected as this method can reduce the construction time and cost significantly. The design and construction teams effectively managed the challenges, complexities and risks associated with undertaking cut and cover tunnel through the existing heavily utilised rail embankment. The on-site construction time for the underpass using the cut and cover technique was reduced to less than 42 hours.

"The industry that supports operations and new projects is suffering a rapid decline in the currently severely curtailed capital investment environment. This is evidenced by a decline in the number of skilled teams, who are now centred in fewer locations. Other features are an aging and retiring ‘Baby Boomer’ generation, coupled with a low uptake of new graduates and the uncertainty in predicting future capital expenditure programs and requirements. Combine this with a reluctance of cash-poor operations to modernise and adapt in an environment of low metal prices, and there is a real uncertainty in how service providers will meet industry needs as they evolve.The industry that supports operations and new projects is suffering a rapid decline in the currently severely curtailed capital investment environment. Combine this with a reluctance of cash-poor operations to modernise and adapt in an environment of low metal prices, and there is a real uncertainty in how service providers will meet industry needs as they evolve.Trends amongst service providers will be put forward as well as developing options and alternatives. These embrace a whole gamut of agile alternatives in the areas of partnering, alliances, commercial and shared risk models and mutual innovations. These will be discussed with some case studies and suggested approaches.Particular emphasis will be upon brownfield expansions and upgrades which have emerged recently as a preferred lower capital and focused way to achieve best practical outcome at lowest cost. There are a number of specific features of such brownfields projects including the requirement for very close cooperation between the execution team, operators, maintenance and suppliers and a maximum usage of site resources and ingenuity. Often, required investment hurdle rates are high, downtime allowed is minimal and site resources usage is maximised. This requires mutual trust, good planning and high health, safety, environment and community (HSEC) standards and practice. In many ways the practices and skills needed are the exact opposite of the historical ‘big greenfields’ project with which the industry has been geared for more recently.Another developing area has been with innovative commercial models and practices. These have been as a direct result of the more challenging investment criteria being adopted and the relative hunger of service providers. It has become more common to look at these commercial/costing alternatives very early in the project cycle as an essential project tool and not just as a possible option. These commercial solutions cover such alternatives as leasing and rental, deferred payments, build–own–operate–transfer (BOOT) and build–own–operate (BOO), whole-of-mine preferred spares and maintenance terms, and aggressive performance targets with real assurance penalties. The Caval Ridge Mine is an open cut coalmine and located within the Bowen Basin region in Central Queensland, and commenced mining and processing operations in 2014. A number of geotechnical challenges for managing dragline bench and lowwall stabilities have been encountered in both southern and northern pits over the years. Southern Pits contain steep seam dips of up to 15° (27 per cent) whilst the northern pits also have shears below pit floors. Geotechnical guidelines to manage the risk of dragline bench failure and lowwall instability have been developed and improved since these geotechnical challenges were identified. The dragline guidelines include dragline tub offset distances from the 60° Line (SDL) or buttressing thickness for different seam dips greater than or equal to 8°. The low wall stabilisation guideline established floor disruption widths and depths depending on seam dips and presence of floor shears to known depths of up to 3 m. As mining operations advance, lowwalls have remained stable until floor disruptions were fired, then returned to stable soon after the shot. The maximum distance of lowwall cracking with blasting has been as far back as the second spoil peak (the prestrip truck dumps construction limit). These failures need to be eliminated to allow the operational flexibility and haulage benefit of constructing the prestrip truck dumps behind the first spoil peak, while maintaining no risk to personnel or equipment. The floor shear depth was verified by collaborating with the exploration teams and taking advantage of the already planned 8-inch coal quality core holes, drilling them an extra 5–10 m past the coal seam floor and locating the shear presence. With this continuous improvement effort, no lowwall failures have occurred during floor disruption firing from the second strip after the new floor disruption depth guidance have been applied. This paper documents the processes for developing these geotechnical guidelines, operational implementation, and outcomes. Operational applications over the years confirmed that these guidelines have effectively managed the dragline bench and lowwall failure risks related with the steep seam dips and floor shears in this open cut coalmine.
