INTRODUCTION A major change in financing exports in recent years has been the decreased importance of subsidized export credits, following the commitment of the OECD countries to eliminate the subsidy element. Subsidized export credit rates are now often more expensive than market rates as the financing for exporters has decreased in volume and importance. The forfait market, in recognition of this decreasing importance, provides a rapidly expanding source of nonrecource finance for exporters. The following is a step by step guide to what it is, how it works, its benefits and problems. WHAT IS FORFAITING? Forfaiting is not new. It has been used in Europe for about 25 years to provide export finance for both capital goods and commodities without recourse to the exporter. Although long the preserve of exporters in Germany, and more lately Italy, forfaiting is now used increasingly by exporters in Great Britain, the United States, Canada and Scandinavia. It is a fairly simple operation with easy straight-forward documentation. The transaction involves the purchase by the forfaiting bank of a bill of exchange or a series of bills without recourse to the exporter. These bills will have been drawn by the exporter, accepted by the importer, and will usually bear the unconditional guarantee of the importer's bank. They are normally drawn payable at intervals during the credit period agreed between importer and exporter and are purchased at a discount by the forfaiter. The exporter thus obtains his cash payment and the importer receives his credit period. The forfaiter collects the amount of the bills as they mature directly from the importer. Credit periods vary, depending upon the type of goods and the country and commercial risk of the importer. The period is generally between one and five years with six monthly maturities. The usual forfait currencies are US dollars. Deutschmarks and Swiss francs and others, such as sterling, French francs, and the Scandinavian currencies are being used more frequently. CHOOSING FORFAITING Most types of financing require the continued involvement of the exporter in the financial side of the transaction during the credit period. Forfaiting has certain comparative advantages. In particular, it is possible to forfait 100 percent of the risk without recourse to the exporter, unlike government sponsored export finance schemes, where some retention of the risk by the exporter is required. In addition, exports from country sources do not present problems and forfaiting can also cover trade within the EEC. Other benefits for the exporter are: (a) The exporter's balance sheet is improved; debts are turned into cash thus improving the liquidity of the company and enhancing its cash flow. And there are no contingent liabilities for bills of exchange. (b) If the sales contract is in a foreign currency forfaiting removes the risk to the exporter of adverse movements in foreign exchange during the credit period. (c) Fluctuations in interest rates during the credit period can be ignored since in forfaiting the transaction is usually done on fixed interest rate terms on a discount basis. (d) The political and transfer risks are taken by the forfaiter. (e) The commercial risk is taken by the forfaiter. (f) The costs of administration and collection etc. during the credit period are removed.

IN the investigation of the magnetic properties of iron-nickel alloys,1 it was found necessary in order to make the alloys forgeable, or malleable, to add small quantities of some other element. Iron-nickel alloys have been known for nearly a century, but have been made in commercial quantities only since 1885. Their remarkable mechanical properties were disclosed by Riley in 1889 and from that time on a large amount of research work has been done both to discover new properties and to correlate the results obtained.2 Lately the Bureau of Standards has collected the published data in a special circular3 giving in compact form an account of the properties of the iron-nickel alloys. It also contains a clear historical sketch of the development as well as a selected bibliography. The chief difficulty with the development of iron-nickel alloys was that the "pure" alloys do not forge readily. The addition of small amounts of manganese, however, made the alloys forgeable, and manganese has therefore come to be regarded as a necessary constituent of nickel steels. The present paper shows to what extent manganese is needed for various nickel contents and also what is the effect of other alloying elements on the forgeability. It also touches upon the cause of forgeability but refers to other sources for more exhaustive treatises, on the subject. The alloys were prepared by melting electrolytic iron and electrolytic nickel with of without other alloying elements in the desired proportions in a magnesia crucible in a vacuum furnace under a. pressure of 1 mm. mercury. In the mining business the cost of grinding media represents up to 40 per cent of the total milling cost and therefore grinding media optimisation has a direct impact on the concentratorsÆ bottom line. In the process of optimising grinding media alloys, Magotteaux developed its own methodology which consists of a series of analyses, tests, calculations and evaluations and assist the concentrator in optimising their processes.This paper presents the Prominent Hill case study where this methodology has been applied on both the secondary ball mill and regrind IsaMill«.The analysis of the wear conditions in the secondary ball mill allows Magotteaux to select a series of grinding media alloys to be tested to reduce grinding media consumption. By marking these different grinding media types with a unique drilling pattern, one can quantify the relative wear performance and cost effectiveness of each grinding media type within the same milling environment. After selecting the most economical grinding media composition a full scale industrial trial, involving topping up the selected grinding media is carried out and the media wear performance closely monitored and analysed.For stirred grinding mills, suppliers propose different grinding media, mainly ceramic beads, with specific properties and cost. Therefore the concentratorsÆ choice is a compromise between grinding efficiency, wear resistance and cost. The selection of the correct grinding media for stirred milling and the assessment procedure will be presented in this paper. "Seafloor mining provides significant potential economic benefits for many Pacific nations that may be “land poor” but “coastline rich,” meaning they have the potential to utilize and profit from the mineral wealth within their Exclusive Economic Zones that extend 200 nautical miles (360 km) out from their coastlines. Within international waters, mineral wealth is the “Common Heritage of Mankind” with additional benefits for sponsoring states and their people.The Solwara 1 Project build continues with significant progress over the last twelve months. The Seafloor Production Tools (SPTs), Subsea Slurry Lift Pump, riser pipe, launch and recovery systems and winches are now complete with delivery to test facilities and the vessel ongoing. Recent focus has been on submerged trials for the SPTs, but the vessel build continues to progress to schedule. Nautilus appreciates the great support thus far from our all our stakeholders.Our focus is to develop the world's first commercial high grade seafloor copper-gold project in an environmentally and socially responsible manner and to launch the deepwater seafloor resource production industry.Nautilus’s marine research continues, including a 3.5-month series of exploration cruises for Seafloor Massive Sulphides in the Bismarck Sea, as well as fabrication of purpose designed exploration equipment."

Correct selection of forging parameters is very important to produce sound superalloy parts. In this investigation nickel-iron base superalloy IN901 successfully forged and seal spacer, which is a part of airplane with about 11 kg weight has been produced. Forging has been performed on the basis of hot compression results, which show deformation above 1100°C associated with dynamic recrystallization (DRX) which can increase the workability of material. On the other hand annealing at 1100°C decreases the flow stress during hot compression, and then increases the material formability. Then billets annealed at 1100°C in electrical furnace for 24 hours and reheated again to 1100°C before forging. Initial square cross section billet with 128mm side and 202mm length forged immediately after reheating by 80MN mechanical press. Specimens forged in five steps: upsetting, three steps molding and finishing. Preformed and molded specimens reheated in electrical furnace before later step of forming. Finally specimens trimmed by 1 OMn mechanical press and hot set by hydraulic press and then cooled in air to room temperature. Results show that reheating temperatures has been selected correctly because there isn't any surface crack and die cavities filled completely by forging material. Material flow has been carried out properly and there isn't any defect in critical points especially in extradoses and intradoses. Microstructural examinations show that grain boundaries contain Ti-rich globular particles that formed during cooling.

In recent years, concurrent product design and process is gaining popularity and will become a norm of the industry of the future. Forging has been a critical manufacturing process for production of components with superior tensile strength, toughness and grain flow. This paper describes an expen system which is being developed for forging die design and forging process analysis in concurrent engineering environment. Rules and guidelines pertaining to forgeability are formulated and incorporated into the knowledge-base in building the system. The system is built using an object-oriented paradigm. The object-oriented approach and hierarchical rule structure paradigm are briefly discussed. Finite element analysis packages (ALPID-2D) were incorporated into the program to give the simulation result of the forging process. The system can automatically produce a competent design and recommend a set of processing parameters for a given product. The designer can modify the design according to the result of the simulation.

IN recent years, there have been a number of experiments conducted to determine the rates of heating and cooling of various sizes and shapes of steel ingots. Up to date, however,-most of the published data has dealt with small sized ingots, the largest being an 18-in. (46 cm.) cube, the data on which was presented before the Iron and Steel Institute in May, 1918, by E. F. Law. It is due to thus lack of information on the rate at which large ingots absorb heat and come to temperature that the heating- practice varies so widely in different plants. One of the questions over which there is much debate is the proper rate of heating of large ingots for forging and the time actually required for the center of a mass of steel to come to forging temperature. As a continuation of experiments described by M. E. Leeds1 and at the request of Mr. G. R. Norton of the Sizer Forge Co. and Mr. R. C. Drinker of the Emergency Fleet Corpn., the test described in this paper was carried out on a 24-in. (61 cm.) round ingot and the rate of heating and cooling determined under regular production conditions. The ingot had been partly forged at one end but, on developing a flaw, had been scrapped so that it was available for test. The size and shape of the ingot and its position in the furnace are shown in Fig. 1.

(written discussion*).-As a sup-plement to the information given by Mr. Bash, a diagram is submitted showing the results of a somewhat similar experiment carried out at the ordnance plant of the Standard Steel Works Co. In this case the ingot to be heated was a nickel-steel octagon ingot, weighing 14,700 lb. (6667 kg.). This ingot was to be forged into two 255-mm. howitzer jackets. A hole was bored half way of the length of the ingot, extending into the longitudinal axis, and a base-metal thermocouple inserted in this hole.

The Special Bar Quality family comprises a wide range of steel grades, mainly requested by the automotive, energy and engineering sectors, for applications where significant performances are required (eg. stresses, temperatures, working cycles, etc.). To meet these requirements it is necessary to reach a precise control of both the mechanical characteristics and metallurgy structures along the whole production chain. For semi-product with large dimensions, such as equivalent diameters around 300 mm, this is traditionally obtained through a manufacturing route which comprises the casting in ingots followed by reheating, forging and rolling. After 2010, new processes were investigated and technologies developed to replace the ingot route with a continuous casting followed by controlled high-reduction rolling. In these processes a seamless integration of CCM with rolling is implemented so to obtain the precise control of material flow, applied deformation and working temperatures. By using the proper combination of rolling diameter, speed and applied reduction, a very good control of the metallurgy structure across the whole section can be obtained, so to also remove the internal discontinuities ("voids") generated during the continuous casting. These processes, which can be defined "forging-like", are applicable to several grades also with large semi-product dimensions (300 mm and more). Besides, removing the ingot route means increased yield and productivity, which is very beneficial to the economical management of the plant. An example of this "forging-like" process is represented by the high-reduction blooming stand installed by Acciaierie Venete in the Padova-Camin mill. This article describes its main concepts as well as its technology and process features.

En este sentido, el objeto del texto señala la forma adecuada de solicitar préstamos s la entidada bancaria. Para ello, se revisa la clasificación de los prestatarios sea en pequeña minería, mediana minería y gran minería, la cual no trabaja con el Banco. Asimismo se señala los documentos necesarios que deben ser presentados para la solicitud del banco (plazos, costos, comprobantes de depósito previo), asi como aquellos que faciliten el estudio técnico. Se evalúa también el depósito previo, las habilitaciones sobre minerales, garantías y la forma de financiación del proyecto.

Aluminum sheet use has been steadily increasing in the automotive industry to achieve mass reduction and improve fuel economy. One significant manufacturing challenge for aluminum sheet implementation is the reduced formability compared to the steel alloys it replaces. This paper includes friction results from the draw bead simulator (DBS), twist compression (TCT) and strip draw (SDT) tests, for two oil based lubricants and four hot melt lubricants. Formability testing was done with the same lubricants and materials, testing in pure stretch with a hemispherical punch, and in draw with a breadpan shaped die.

The recrystallization and texture evolution of AZ31 sheets obtained through two stages was investigated at different stages of post-rolling annealing. The specimens were rolled at the temperature of 100? and at a fast speed of 1000m/min and low speed of 15m/min with a reduction of 30% in one pass. The results show thatAZ31B sheets rolled at 15 m/min and 100 °C has fractured for reductions of more than 30% per pass. However, by increasing the rolling speed to 1000 m/min the rollability was improved significantly and the material can be rolled to reductions of more than 70% per pass. The high speed and heavily deformed materials are fully recrystallized even at 100 °C.

Manufacturing of thin sheet is difficult in industries. Some approaches, such as small-draft multi-pass rolling, intermediate annealing, isothermal rolling and high-speed rolling were proposed to overcome the deformability. In this study, different rolling speeds from 15 to 1000 m/min were employed to twin rolled cast AZ31B magnesium alloy to different reductions. The results show thatAZ31B sheets rolled at 15 m/min and 100 °C has fractured for reductions of more than 30% per pass. However, by increasing the rolling speed to 1000 m/min the rollability was improved significantly and the material can be rolled to reductions of more than 70% per pass. The high speed and heavily deformed materials are fully recrystallized even at 100 °C.

Los principales objetivos del programa son identificar los riesgos de incendio para asi corregir las condiciones inseguras mediante las inspecciones de rutina, aplicar los medios de control y extinción de fuegos de que disponga el minero y la educación al personal en la prevención de incendios para adiestrarlo en la respuesta inicial y calificada.

"El Proyecto de Estandarización de la Intervención Social en las Comunidades es una herramienta de gestión social, cuyo objetivo es sistematizar las buenas prácticas de relacionamiento comunitario aplicadas en la minería peruana, a través de la incorporación del concepto de desarrollo comunitario como su principal soporte. De esa manera, se facilitan las actividades de las empresas minero-energéticas en las comunidades de su entorno de influencia directa, durante sus principales fases: exploración, factibilidad, construcción del proyecto, operación y cierre. En esta perspectiva, el presente trabajo señala el concepto de las Relaciones Comunitarias en las industrias minero-energéticas, donde se presenta los objetivos de la estandarización de la intervención social en comunidades y se plantea nuevo enfoque de relaciones comunitarias, basado en la gerencia de actitudes y percepciones de los grupos de interés, ubicados en los ámbitos rural y urbano del entorno de influencia de la empresa, para lograr el consenso social. "
