Fotocatalisadores de nióbio foram obtidos por anodização a 15 V, utilizando uma solução de K2HPO4 10% p/p em glicerol anidro como eletrólito por 15 minutos. As amostras foram caracterizadas por difração de raios-X para avaliação da estrutura cristalina obtida. A fotodegradação do glicerol (utilizado como agente de sacrifício) foi avaliada pela técnica de cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência.

With the start-up of the Minas-Rio system, Anglo American, in Conceição do Mato Dentro, MG, in 2014, a methodology was also implemented and certified to perform the tests to obtain the results of TML (Transportable Moisture Limit). Such a parameter provides the maximum moisture content contained in the material that could be transported without the risk of the cargo liquefaction process, which could lead to incidents such as the tipping of ships carrying iron ore concentrate in bulk on the deep water. This means that when loading a ship, the moisture content of the material to be transported should not be higher than the TML reference value, obtained in a physical test and intrinsic to the material. Should this occur the charging may be rejected. From 2014 a downward trend was observed for this reference parameter in the Minas-Rio system, with results approaching the moisture of the filtered product, bringing risks to the operation of the project. In this way, an investigation of the possible causes for understanding this downward trend was required.

Por meio da instalação de um buffer tank foi possível tornar a coluna de destilação mais estável, aumentando a produção de líquidos, reduzindo a demanda de energia e otimizando a pré-purificação.

Conception the simulation and optimization technologies for industrial processes applied in the mining environment: tools and methodologies. Clarifications provided about the differences of these techniques when compared with static analysis (intuition, use of static spreadsheets, etc.). Presentation of practical cases at several big mining companies in Brazil. These projects will be presented and illustrated through dynamic simulation models developed at those companies, each one with its set of objectives, scope and results (for example: sizing the number of equipment, silo, piles related to the mining processing, logistics, ROM transportation, mine operations plan, etc.).

There are a few ways to impact the capacity of a reciprocating compressor, by altering suction and discharge pressure and recirculation. By reducing the pressure drop in the section before the compressor it is possible to provide a higher suction pressure and subsequently achieve a higher compressor flow rate. The increase in the suction pressure while maintaining the discharge pressure reduced the demanded compressor Head. When considering oxygen compressors it is necessary to cautiously evaluate the safety norms and parameters due to the risk of explosions and fires due to high oxygen velocity.

At this paper, Eirich will present its new tool for sinter analysis integrated to the sintering control system. For stabilization and optimal, continuous control of the sintering process, QualiMaster MT1, a device was developed which guarantees fully automatic representative sampling and material analysis and thus a high and stable sintering quality. Mining tailings often has a considerable proportion of valuable substances. In addition to this work, we will also present our mixing technology that allows the economic recovery of these mining tailings.

This research is based on a bibliographical review of a field work that was done in the municipality of Parelhas / RN. The area explored, in turn, is known for its richness of mineral resources that are present in pegmatitic rocks. The general objective of this research is to characterize the main properties of the pegmatites and quartzite, in order to verify the heterogeneity of the elements, to raise a possible viability of extraction for economic purposes. The quartzite also presents a siliceous chemical composition. This rock is a source of bricks and silica refractories used in the steel industry and for the preparation of the blast furnace bed, ornamental rock used in different ways (rustic, carved, polished, among others). However, this research resulted in preliminary data, but it would be interesting to be more detailed in order to evaluate the economic viability of these rocks.

O presente trabalho apresenta rota não-aquosa para a obtenção de compostos sólidos e sistemas de filmes finos do tipo ABO3 (PbTiO3 e PbZrO3). Os compostos foram caracterizados por meio da técnica de difração de raios X (DRX) e teste de ângulo de contato e os filmes por espectrofotometria, elipsometria espectral e microscopia de força atômica (AFM), tendo sido depositados sobre substratos de baixo ponto de fusão por técnicas de spin-coating. Os resultados indicam a formação de nanoestruturas cristalinas e sugerem a sua utilização como atuadores ou piezoatuadores.

This study aims to compare the wear resistance assessed in rubber wheel abrasion test of nickel aluminide coatings deposited by for Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) and High Velocity Oxigen Fuel (HVOF) manufacturing, using the same raw material. A nickel aluminide powder was atomized and deposited on 316L steel plate substrate. After deposition, some specimens were submitted to a heat treating (1200 °C for 24 h followed by 760°C for 24 h). The coatings deposited using PTA developed different microstructures due to the incorporation of substrate elements, its performance was better than the HVOF coatings, although their Vickers hardness was similar. After heat treating, a significant variation in hardness and wear resistance was observed. For PTA specimens, there were decrease in hardness of 35%, while for HVOF ones this drop was approximately 20%. Nonetheless, the effect of thermal exposure in wear resistance was quite different: an increase of 21% was observed for HVOF coatings, while a reduction of 20% occurred in PTA ones. Microstructures modifications in PTA coatings were significant for their wear resistance. On the other hand, the reduction of porosity and sintering were responsible for a better performance of heat-treated HVOF coatings.

A utilização de resíduos oriundos de processos industriais tem se tornado uma prática muito recorrente em todo mundo devido à questão ambiental. A legislação brasileira estipulou parâmetros rígidos de destino destes materiais e a indústria viu na construção civil uma possibilidade de utilização. Este trabalho tem como objetivo a caracterização do pó de pedra de gnaisse para utilização em concretos. Serão realizados ensaios de granulometria, determinação de massa especifica e material pulverulento. Os resultados mostraram a viabilidade da incorporação deste resíduo para a produção de concretos.

AISI 410 martensitic stainless steel specimens were low temperature plasma nitrided at 400°C in a mixture of 75%N2:25%H2, during 20 h. Active screen technic was used to avoid any edge effect The nitrided case is composed of expanded martensite (a’N) and e-Fe3N iron nitride, whilst chromium nitride precipitation was avoided. Surface hardness reached 1275 HV0.01. The transverse microhardness profile shows a gentle hardness gradient with a NHT nitrided case depth of 28 µm. Nanoindentation tests were carried out in order to assess the hardness (H), the Young modulus (E), the H/E and H3/E2 ratios and the elastic recovery (We) of both nitrided and non-nitrided specimens. The cavitation erosion mass losses were measured as a function of exposure time. The results showed a decrease of 27 times of the mass loss compared to the non-nitride specimens. Wear rate decreased from 2.56 mg/h for the non-nitrided condition to 0.085 mg/h after nitriding. The increment in the elastic recovery and the higher hardness values are responsible for the greater cavitation erosion resistance exhibited by the expanded martensite. Such results showed that low temperature plasma nitriding and the formation of expanded martensite are effective to increase cavitation erosion resistance of AISI 410 stainless steel.

Ruídos elétricos afetam os circuitos lógicos e conseqüentemente podem comprometer a confiabilidade nos controles de processos, e para minimizar as influências desses ruídos, algumas medidas básicas foram tomadas, com instalações adequadas de todo o sistema, como padronização do aterramento, encaminhamento de cabos, etc. Depois que as medidas foram implementadas, o resultado foi um sistema mais confiável. Se apenas um fio for encaminhado de forma incorreta ou se o aterramento estiver inadequado, pode ser suficiente para causar problemas. A experiência mostra que é muito difícil que todas as medidas sejam aplicadas integralmente, mas se não forem tomadas pelo menos as medidas básicas, o sistema ficará suscetível.

The steel production in mini mills generates several process residues, among them the electric arc furnace dust (EAFD). This residue has as main elements Fe, O, and Zn, being classified as hazardous by the presence of Pb and Cd. In recent years, a rise in the chlorine content of this residue was observed, motivated by the increased use of scrap with impurities bearing this element. In this work, a qualitative assessment of the presence of chlorine in the electric steelmaking process is made. Complementing it, theoretical considerations based on the computational thermodynamics tool FactSage show the effects of the chlorine on the mineral species in EAFD and on gaseous species in the gas phase (HCl and Cl2). For this study, PVC polymer was used as the chlorine carrier substance which contaminates the EAF charge; presence of other minor elements in the system such as K, Na and Pb were also considered.

Outro ponto é possuir princípios sustentáveis e funcionais, aliando eficiência e diretrizes lógicas para o design do produto. Este trabalho tem como objetivo a caracterização mecânica de tubetes de papelão para a utilização em abrigos emergenciais.

The aim of this work was to heat treat and characterize sintered valve seat inserts (VSI). The powder metallurgy route was the only way found to substitute cobalt and lead, used in the VSI original alloy, due to their high cost and toxicological effect, respectively. The studied VSI was obtained with AISI M2 high-speed steel powder mixed with iron powder and other additives such as manganese sulphide, graphite, zinc stearate, carbides and copper, which was added by metallic infiltration. All the VSI were air quenched and double tempered, for one hour each, at seven different equidistantly temperatures, ranging from 100 °C up to 700 °C. The physical and mechanical properties were evaluated by means of the VSI apparent density, apparent hardness and crush radial strength. The chemical composition was determined through gas analysis, for the light elements such as carbon and sulfur, and energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry for other elements. Microstructural characterization was performed with the support of scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Regarding the VSI final application, the best results were achieved with the inserts air quenched and double tempered at 600 °C.

Eixos são componentes utilizados para transmissão de movimento e energia em máquinas. Os eixos são sujeitos à fadiga, visto que são submetidos à esforços combinados de flexão e torção cíclica. No presente estudo foi feita a análise de falha de eixo de uma bomba de alimentação de ureia fundida de uma fábrica de fertilizantes. Foram realizadas inspeção visual, fractografia, metalografia. A falha foi associada à concentração de tensões no raio da chaveta e ranhuras de usinagem, o que causou a fadiga.
