As the construction industry is becoming more large-scaled and complex, the BIM technology has been utilized throughout the industry. Since 2008, the construction industry in South Korea (Korea) has required carrying on BIM-based project continually. According to this trend, BIM S/W market, as well as BIM library market is also gradually activated. Many countries have already been establishing Web-based BIM library market, also Korea has been trying to establishing this Web-based BIM library market. In this study, through market research of Web-based BIM library market of advanced countries including the U.S.A. and U.K., establishment strategy of BIM library market to be derived by late starters that introduce BIM such as Korea, Japan and China was deduced based on current establishment status of BIM library market in Korea. In addition, deal with an issue that a clear revenue-sharing system between business principals of Web-based BIM library market is not available at the current stage was presented as a factor of inhibiting activation of BIM library market. So in order to offer a reasonable revenue-sharing strategy in BIM library market as conceptual level, a methodology and process of applying Game theory being used for deriving. It is expected that a reasonable revenue-sharing model between business principals would be presented as its standard of BIM library market to be more activated in the future.

On 26 August 1971, the Bureau of Mines, through the Spokane Mining Research Center at Spokane, Washington, approved initiation of the evaluation of oscillatory energy toward enhancing flow of polymer into shale. The effort was an outgrowth of work performed under Bureau of Mines Contract H0210055, "Feasibility Study of Surface Impregnation equipment for the Chemical Stabilization of Coal Mine Structures," wherein feasibility of the impregnation concept was expressed and the detailed design of a machine for impregnation of coal mine roofs with polymer (under static pressure head) accomplished. Under these efforts, the potential enhance¬ment of polymer uptake into the shale thru superposition of oscillatory energy on the static impregnation pressure was suggested. A proposal for investigation of this phenomena entitled "Feasibility Study of the Application of Oscillatory Energy as an Aid to Afford Chemical Stabilization" was presented to the Bureau whereupon a three month program for initiation of investigation was approved.

Methane gas caused an eight-month shutdown of mining operations at the Mill Creek, Phase 3, Tunnel. The gas-related shutdown occurred as the tunnel was advanced to an approximate distance of 2,700 feet, which constitutes approximately18% of the total tunnel length. The construction of an emergency ventilation shaft, a comprehensive program of de-gassing wells and an expanded gas monitoring system were used to mitigate the gas condition. When complete, this tunnel will be utilized to convey and store combined storm and sanitary sewage collected from a portion of Cleveland, Ohio and ten suburbs. This paper will provide an overview of gas related remedial measures and explain how these measures were integrated into the project to ensure safe tunneling conditions.

Two Hg-Au occurrences west of Bangko, Sumatra occur within the West Sumatra Permian Volcanic Plutonic Arc. The Melipun Hg-Au occurrence was exploited in the past and mineralisation occurs within a hydrothermally altered cupola of a buried intrusion. The Salak Hg-Au occurrence occurs within the outcrop of the Dusunbaru pluton, likely within the remnants of a caldera in which hydrothermal mineralisation was developed. Both occurrences formed late in the history of the volcanic arc, probably between the Triassic and early Jurassic. The Melipun occurrence may have potential at depth, but that at Salak is small and lies within the area of a proposed Geopark.CITATION:Crow, M J, van Waveren, I M and Hasibuan, F, 2015. The Arbre viaduct, 200 metres long, is the most important structure on the Belgian portion of the High Speed Train line between Paris and Brussels. The particular geotechnical conditions of the soil with carboniferous limestone affected by karstic phenomena, has prompted the designer to found the viaduct on systems of high capacity vertical and batter micropiles. The design of the working micropiles was validated by full scale tests performed on instrumented micropiles. The size of the structure and the deformation criteria to be met when HS trains are crossing the viaduct, together with the lack of references for such innovative structure, called for monitoring the movements of the piers as soon as the link was open to traffic. The authors report on the results of loading tests on micropiles and the results of settlement structure monitoring for a period of 4 years. Settlement of the foundation is estimated taking into account the group effect.

"For a high hazard USACE facility, the Center Hill Dam in Tennessee, several disparate streams of data were compiled into a single geospatial and relational enterprise data management system to store, analyze, visualize and distribute the data collected during installation of a deep cutoff wall. These data streams included historical drawings and pre-construction plans and grouting records; geological data from boreholes; attributes of barrier wall elements; element verticality data analyzed from multiple measurement methods; and concrete field and laboratory analytical data. A previously developed data management system developed by the authors, WallTracker, was extensively modified to also include manually collected and real-time measurements from several types of dam monitoring instruments. The system now uses enterprise database technologies with Geographical Information Systems capabilities to manage and relate these data streams into a common platform and allows access to the raw and interpreted data via web and desktop-based interactive tools, including interactive map and cross-sectional viewers and other graphical and tabular reporting tools. One of the primary benefits of this system is the neartransparent interaction that is possible with the Nashville District of USACE on the project. These techniques can now be effectively incorporated into systems that address the unique construction and data management tracking requirements for dams, dikes, and levees.IntroductionThe Center Hill Dam rehabilitation, as with other deep foundation installations, requires the contractor to collect a substantial amount of information over the course of the project, both for internal quality control of construction progress and methods, and for demonstrating compliance with owner specifications. This paper discusses techniques used at Center Hill Dam for consolidating, visualizing and analyzing construction and instrumentation data using relational database and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, collectively referred to as an Information Management System (IMS).The remainder of this paper presents the needs and objectives of the IMS, the components and data flows involved, the capabilities and user interfaces of the systems, and the benefits for the end users."

Minerals Appraisers/Valuers often find great difficulty or failure in attempting to employ the Sales Comparison Approach to the Market Value Appraisal of development and operating stage mineral properties. An important factor generally overlooked is a comparison of net operating income (NOI) margins on a per-unit-of-production basis between mineral properties, whether these be demonstrated or forecast margins. NOI margins can vary greatly between mines or quarries that are producing similar products. Ultimately, the expected NOI margin determines what a buyer is willing to pay for an income producing property. Common criticisms of the sales comparison approach by minerals appraisers are introduced. These are counterbalanced by raising some issues in the way the inputs for the Income Approach are usually derived by minerals appraisers, and by review of some conspicuous examples of the much too common misuse or abuse of the income approach in market value minerals appraisals. Example transaction analyses and sales comparison analyses are used to demonstrate the author?s methodology for adjusting units of resource in his transaction adjustment tables (see APPENDIX). The examples are used as the basis for discussion of ways to employ adjustments for operating economics and many other factors, while cautioning about the potential for double counting. The conclusions include a recommendation that minerals appraisers attempt to apply at least two of the three valuation approaches when appraising the market or fair value of development and operating stage mineral properties, the two being the sales comparison and income approaches.

The propensity of coal spontaneous combustion can be evaluated using various laboratory testing methods, such as R70 adiabatic tests, thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) tests and critical self-heating temperature (CSHT) methods. Each of the methods has its unique characteristics and index for classifying the propensity of self-ignition of coals. Accountable relationships among the propensity indices of different methods should be established. Using the newly established R70 and TGA testing setups in our ventilation laboratory, samples from U.S. coal mines have been collected and tested. The TGA is a relatively new quantitative method. A test can be conducted in a relatively short time, within about one and a half hours, compared to the adiabatic tests. The temperature and weight of the sample can be measured with high precision and then used to determine the activation energy of the coal, which is a good indicator of the potential for self-heating. Under a specific experimental design, the TGA technique could perform the proximate analysis for determining coal quality parameters (e.g., moisture, volatile matter, fixed carbon and ash content). These parameters can be used in an empirical equation for assessing the potential for coal self-ignition. The trend of activation energies determined using TGA techniques is reasonably consistent with the trend of activation energies determined using adiabatic tests. As a case study, a comparative analysis of these two methods for determining activation energy was made on coal samples collected from Indiana. The kinetics of the spontaneous combustion mechanism has been explained. If the functional groups of a coal such as hydroxyl (-OH), carboxyl (-COOH), methyl (-CH3), etc., activate more easily with a small amount of activation energy at a relatively low temperature, the coal will have a higher potential for self-heating. With the kinetic and coal quality parameters determined by the TGA setup, it has been found that the coal with a low potential for self-ignition has low self-heating rate, a high activation energy and a high minimum self-heating temperature.

Visando entender os impactos causados pela formação de trincas e deformação das pelotas na qualidade física do material, foi desenvolvido um algoritmo que, através de análise automática de imagens, é capaz de medir o tamanho da trinca, sua largura e comprimento, bem como efetuar as medições de tamanho e morfologia da pelota queimada. Foram analisadas pelotas produzidas com minério hidratado (elevado teor de goethita) com 2 perfis térmicos distintos. Os dados obtidos na análise de imagem foram correlacionados com a resistência à compressão das pelotas e evidenciaram o tamanho das trincas denota notória correlação com a sua resistência física. A medição das trincas formadas pela deformação da pelota no leito (denominadas resiliência) permite evidenciar o quanto a pressão no leito de pelotas impacta na qualidade após a queima, bem como indica o ponto ótimo para que não acarretem em perda da resistência. A medição do tamanho das trincas térmicas mostra-se essencial, pois mesmo em perfis mais suaves de queima pode haver a formação de tais trincas, sendo que o tamanho e a abertura da trinca é que definem a melhor ou pior resistência. O conhecimento, e possível aplicação prática, da avaliação das trincas poderá auxiliar na otimização de perfis térmicos de fornos de pelotização.

In order to obtain the solubility of carbon in vanadium-bearing hot metal, graphite powder is used for the carburization experiments. The other kinds of carburizers, namely low nitrogen carburizer, anthracite and coke are used for carburization of vanadium-bearing hot metal weighing 500 g at temperature of 1450, 1500 and 1550 °C respectively. Carbon increments of low nitrogen carburizer, anthracite and coke fall in descending order. It was found by comprehensive analysis that anthracite is the most cost-effective carburizer among three carburizers. Magnitude of apparent rate constant of carburization reactions is 10−4s−1. It is found that the carburization rate increase with temperature.

An insufficient integrity of cast in-situ bored piles can lead to a reduction of the load bearing capacity and may require cost intensive repairs. Reasons for an insufficient pile integrity are linked to the construction process, mainly to poor concrete quality leading to bleeding and segregation of the fresh concrete. Moreover, the entrapment of soil and an insufficient concrete cover can pose a problem. Knowledge about the time-dependent development of the fresh concrete pressure during the construction process of bored piles is needed for a better understanding of the underlying processes causing these defects. Therefore, pressure measurements were carried out on different construction sites with pressure cells being installed at different depths along the reinforcement cage. The measurements revealed the maximum pressure acting on the surrounding soil. The achievement is a better understanding of the effects of the concrete placement specifically and the construction process in general on the surrounding soil to reduce the risk of pile imperfections.

O fósforo é um dos elementos mais importantes do processo de produção de aço em convertedores a oxigénio, devido à dificuldade de remoção durante o processo de sopro de oxigénio e depois do vazamento para panela de aço. Este trabalho mostra resultados obtidos através da alteração em variáveis de processo como o consumo de cales, teor de FeO na escória e uso de fluorita, durante o sopro e a avaliação da partição de fósforo com base em modelos de autores como Healy, Turkdogan, Basu e Suito, foi realizada utilizando os dados industriais da aciaria da ArcelorMittal Tubarão, com objetivo de comparar estes dados com as abordagens citadas. Um software termodinâmico foi usada para cálculo das atividades, da fração de líquido e do fósforo em equilíbrio, com a finalidade de auxiliar a identificação das principais diferenças termodinâmicas entre os dados experimentais e correntes. O resultado final mostra que as alterações realizadas no processo foram significativos para melhorar a taxa de partição de fósforo.

The Tennessee-Schuylkill Corporation, Chloride, Ariz., mines and mills a lead-zinc ore containing gold, silver, and a small amount of copper. The mill products are lead and zinc concentrates that are shipped to smelters. The company was the second largest producer of lead and zinc in Arizona in 1937 and was seventh in gold production. Operations discussed are those being conducted at the mine in October 1938 and are representative of the complete operating period from 1936 to date.

The regulations for current coal mine refuge alternative (RAs) require that there be sufficient life support to sustain survival of the maximum number of RA occupants for a minimum of 96 hours. This minimum duration assumes that rescuers can access the RA through the mine within four (4) days of the onset of the mine emergency. But what if mine rescue teams cannot reach the miners within the RA before the RA air supply is severely limited or exhausted? What could be done to extend the duration of the RA life support capability into the 97th hour and beyond? In addition, what might be done to enable more rapid rescue of the miners if they could not be reached through the mine in a timely manner? This paper describes a systems approach to address the potential need to extend the duration of RA life support beyond current design limits. New capabilities that need to be developed in advance of such a dire need include more reliable emergency communications, highly mobile and efficient drilling rigs, enhanced directional drilling techniques, and a standardized RA external life support interface along with RA internal design modifications to accommodate use of an external supply. The following sections describe the need, intent, and technology gaps associated with each of these capabilities. Government agencies and the mining industry should consider initiation of a program to investigate, design, and develop effective means of extending the current 96-hour time restriction on coal mine refuge alternative life support. The development process should begin with a focused study to refine the overall operational concept, investigate the current state-of-the art of critical technologies, identify specific technology development priorities, and make recommendations for a development program to provide in an organized, efficient, and timely manner a solution for extended refuge alternative life support and occupant rescue.

Mineral processing plants include different stages like crushing, grinding, classification and concentration, all of which have partially affect the final product. To identify and solve the related problems of each stage, process audition should be carried out continuously to find the major solutions of improving product and decreasing the maintenance and operating costs. The Iranian Gohar-Zamin iron ore beneficiation plant consists of equipment such as gyratory and cone crushers, high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR), ball mill, dry and wet double-deck vibrating screens, hydrocyclones cluster, magnetic drum separators, thickener and horizontal vacuum belt filters. The defects of initial design as well as current non-standard operating conditions of equipment were monitored and detected and the opportunities for process optimisation were presented as follows: establishing the control loop of power draw for cone crushers, the modification of feeding chute in cone crushers to minimise the non-uniform wear of parts, removing segregation in the fresh feed bin and screen’s circulating load chute in order to provide the proper feed to HPGR, reducing wear rate on HPGR rolls surfaces, decreasing the amount of rejected materials in screen, equalising the solid content and particle size distribution (PSD) of feed in all magnetic drum separators and equalising the PSD of hydrocyclones overflow. This paper provides a guideline for the mineral processing industry to focus its efforts on process design to deliver the efficiency with minimum capital costs. The increased costs of exploration and drilling of new oil fields and the continued success of water flooding in nearly depleted oil fields have created a demand for information on the results obtained from individual projects. The Bureau of Mines has published several reports concerning water-flood activity in the Mid continent area and at the request of the industry has continued to collect and disseminate this information. This report was written in response to these requests. It describes in detail the water-flooding projects in Anderson, Franklin, Linn, and Miami Counties, Kans., and includes methods of water treating and the results obtained. The production histories of each county and many water-flood projects are shown graphically from the date of the first development. Maps of most of the major projects, showing their status as of January 1, 1953 are presented also. The practice of injecting water to stimulate oil production was legalized in Kansas in 1935, and the first water-flooding project authorized in this four-county area was initiated by the Texas Co. in December 1935 in Linn County, Forty-nine projects2/ initiated in the area to January 1953 are estimated to have recovered approximately 10 million barrels of oil that could not have been produced by methods used previously. About 7,900 productive acres had been, or are, flooded by these projects, and approximately 1.36 million barrels of water had been injected.
