In this paper, three novel surfactants containing double reactive centers(-CONHOH and –CONH-), double hydrophobic groups were designed and synthesized as collector for separation of diaspore and aluminosilicate minerals, such as N-(4-(hydroxyamino)-4-oxobutyl)octanamide (HA-8), N-(4-(hydroxyamino)-4-oxobutyl)decanamide (HA-10) and N-(4-(hydroxyamino)- 4-oxobutyl) -dodecanamide (HA-12). The adsorption mechanism of N-(4-(hydroxyamino) -4-oxobutyl)alkylamides (HA) onto diaspore was also investigated by FTIR spectra, zeta potential measurement and DFT. The flotation results demonstrated that three collectors all exhibited superior collecting power to diaspore and selectivity against kaolinite and illite, and could effectively realize flotation recovery of diaspore from bauxite ores contained aluminosilicate minerals under neutral conditions. Moreover, HA-12 was a superior collector than other two collectors for bauxite separation. The results of XPS, FTIR spectra and zeta potential illustrated that at around pH 6.0, HA might chemisorb on diaspore surfaces through Al-O coordination bonds formed by binding its –C(=O)NHOH or –C(=O)NH– chelate groups with aluminum atoms on diaspore surfaces. HA’s unique properties, such as characteristic bond patterns onto diaspore surfaces, double hydrophobic groups, and intermolecular hydrogen bonds between neighboring HA molecules coated on diaspore surfaces, rendered it to be a superior flotation collector for diaspore.

Abstract-Plants have a remarkable ability to select, use and store metals derived from the substrate. Each species is unique in its requirements for and tolerances to the full spectrum of chemical elements in the Periodic Table. Studies to define the chemical characteristics of common trees and shrubs of the temperate forest are providing insight to their use for exploration, i.e., biogeochemical exploration. Examples of surveys over gold deposits in British Columbia show the effectiveness of sampling various tissues from different species in a range of biogeoclimatic environments. At the Nickel Plate mine in the Montane-Spruce zone, outer bark of Lodgepole pine was effective in defining a large area of metal enrichment; at the Carolin mine in the zone of Coastal Mountain Hemlock, analysis of twigs of western hemlock and Pacific silver fir provided an exploration target considerably larger than that defined by lithogeochemistry; at the Mount Washington gold deposit in the Mountain Hemlock zone, twigs of mountain hemlock and rhododendron were used to outline the mineralization; and in the Interior Douglas-fir zone at the QR deposit analysis of Douglas-fir tops collected by helicopter provided a rapid and effective method of identifying a gold-rich area.

ABSTRACT: The ground penetrating radar (GPR) method was used in a platinum mine in Zimbabwe by members of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Mineral Resources (BGR). The measurements were carried out in boreholes and drifts. Electromagnetic re?ections from a fault that consistently trends parallel to the mineralization zone permitted the mapping of the economically minable parts of the deposit. An introduction is given to the geology of the studied area and the application of the GPR method. The electrical parametres of the rocks are measured in situ, the GPR measurements are displayed with radargrams, and the visible structures are explained in illustrations.

It is recognized that within life cycle assessment that the eco-toxicity potentials (TPs) derived for metals require additional research to improve their reliability. Current models used to develop TPs do not include important fate process for metals such as speciation and bioavailability. Toxicity potentials are standard values used in LCA to enable a comparison of potential toxic impacts between substances. Huijbrechts (2001) calculated toxicity potentials for 181 substances utilizing the USES model for six impact categories, i.e. freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity, marine aquatic ecotoxicity, freshwater sediment ecotoxicity, marine sediment ecotoxicity, terrestrial ecotoxicity and human toxicity (not considered here). Marine ecotox potential for metals is typically high using this approach, whereas most open ocean metal concentrations are very low. A sensitivity analysis of the USES-LCA model was undertaken using copper as an example. Results indicate: fate processes on the global scale are driving the marine water and sediment TPs for copper most; the second most important fate parameter is sedimentation from the water and burial in deep sediment layers; inclusion of speciation and bio-availability processes would be very beneficial; more accurate estimates of input parameters should be used, and the PNECwater and PNECsediment and all partition coefficients for metals should be updated in the model.

The Dome Mine has been in production for nearly 100 years and throughout the years many different mining methods were used to extract the ore. An exploration program late in the 1990s outlines new resources requiring the mine to extract the rock and some previously placed backfill (alluvial sand and/or classified tailings). It is therefore imperative to separate the backfill from the rock to reduce the negative impacts of handling the backfill on the ore pass, crushers and mill processes. Separating the backfill from the ore at the source would also reduce and/or eliminate the cost of handling this waste stream. The paper will touch on the backfill removal criteria, the risks, the alternatives and the selected method, screen decks, for backfill removal at the Dome Mine. The 155549 bulk zone case study will illustrate how the screen decks are in use at the mine. The paper will also illustrate how the lessons learned and conclusions of the work done for the 155549 bulk zone were applied to the second screen deck installation for the 257260 bulk zone.

The development of the Gubin lignite deposit, located in western Poland is the first mining investment of this magnitude in 30 years. Gubin is the second largest prospective lignite deposit in Poland, with over one billion tonnes of indicated reserves, which would be sufficient for a 2700 MW power plant for almost 50 years. The paper presents select problems related to the mining development of Gubin deposit. Attention has been paid to changes in legal and formal requirements for mining investments that were introduced after the change of Polish social and economic system. The significance of spatial, environmental and social conditionings has been emphasized. Typical attributes of the mine planning process have also been presented. Those include the long time horizon of the investment, uncertainty of external conditions and resulting difficulties in the project?s economic evaluation. Focus has been placed on mutual connections between particular elements of the project and time dependence during the process of their development. Iterative characteristics of the design process have been proven, together with resulting necessity of frequent verification of previous assumptions. As a background for presenting selected problems related to future development of Gubin lignite deposit, the methods of design have been discussed ? the variants method, the empirical method and the method of consecutive approximations. The tools and the possibilities of their use for solving specific problems related to mine design of an open pit have been broadly discussed. The chapter in which the authors relate to the specific problems of Gubin deposit development constitutes the main part of the paper. It depicts the assumptions on which the annual production and the total extraction of lignite during life-of-mine period have been based. The process of mine designing has been discussed, taking into consideration environmental, geotechnical, spatial, social and mining conditions. The criteria for choosing the location of the opening cut and the external dump have been mentioned. In the summary, the present state of mine design progress has been presented, together with some problems that will need to be solved during the next stages of the deposit?s development.

CanmetMINING has been working on process development for separation and concentration of rare earth bearing minerals from various ores. Among others, the flowsheet development for the Montviel Rare Earths/Nb deposit, located at the north end of the Abitibi region in Quebec and owned by GeoMegA Resources Inc. (GeoMegA) is now at an advanced stage. The concentrate produced by a flotation-only process at the early stage of the project accounted for higher than 90% TREO and Nb recovery in 40% mass. This concentrate was submitted to SGS Lakefield for hydrometallurgical processing. Lixiviation of the concentrate using hydrochloric acid yielded approximately 99 % REE. An overall (from ore in ground to final precipitate) REE recovery of 80% was obtained through a series of selective precipitation steps. Recently significant additional developments have been made. CanmetMINING is steadily improving the quality of concentrate produced through a simplified, more efficient flowsheet which consists of flotation, magnetic separation, and a thermal treatment procedure. The paper discusses aspects of the process that allowed obtaining 82% recovery of TREO and Nb in 16% of mass, the best result to-date.

"The paper presents a scale-up and design method of vertical screw stirred mill, in which the closed circuit of mill and hydrocyclone was assumed as one factor, theoretically regardless the affects inside system of the mill and hydrocylone. Having developed this method for the vertical screw stirred mill used in regrinding duty of iron ore in Ma Steel, it has now been successfully applied in other installations.INTRODUCTIONThe Towermill was developed in Japan in the 1950s, by the Tower Mill Kubota Corporation, it was fine and ultra-fine grinding mill of the metallic ores and concentrates. Due to the rapid development of metal mining and useful minerals disseminated fine, fine grinding and ultrafine grinding equipment has also been more wide used in minerals processing industry. Typical fine and ultra-fine grinding mil are the Vertimill and Stirred Media Detritor (SMD) Mill of Metso, Eirich Towemill, Outotec HIGmill, FLSmidth VXPmill, Xstrata Isamill and the vertical screw stirred mill (JM) of CRIMM, etc.JM series of vertical screw stirred mill were invented by Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy in the 1980s. Energy saving and consumption reducing have been achieved through the optimization and engineering practice. More than 500 units JM series of vertical screw stirred mill are used in the iron ore, copper ore, copper-molybdenum ore, molybdenum ore, Pb-Zn ore and Au ore."

"The internal operation of a tumbling mill is a very hostile environment and precludes the sustainable operation of internal sensors to measure the mechanisms of charge motion and breakage events. Instead indirect methodologies are required to expand the current understanding developed within a framework of perfect mixing of the mill contents. A number of measurement approaches have been successfully used to explore the operation of SAG mills including strain instrumented lifter bolts, mill shell strain measurement and thermal (energy balance) of operating mills.Early acoustics measurement was developed by Hardinge using a 'microphone' located close to the expected toe location. This signal was an indicator of the mill fill. Improvements were implemented with the use of two microphones straddling the toe location to try to increase the sensitivity of the measurement and reduce ambiguities. Further improvements included a filtered signal indicative of steel interactions. Unfortunately, the mechanisms of signal generation and the complexity of the processes do not provide a consistent signal.In recent years, advanced acoustic measurement using arrays of microphones utilising signal processing techniques have been implemented as SmartNoise and validated on over 30 mills. This paper will discuss the results obtained with signals such as water holdup, mill shell steel hits and two each of the toe and shoulder angles. An estimate of the internal mill component wear rates is also accessible.Advanced acoustic measurements with wide bandwidths when combined with physics models and process understanding has achieved a step change in the understanding of the dynamic internal operation of a tumbling mills on time scales of 80 ms. These techniques have been used extensively on SAG mills, but have also been applied to FAG and ball mills. Acoustic measurement is used for the rapid diagnosis of mill conditions and holistic control for optimisation and stability."

An underground mine fire can seriously threaten the lives of all personnel in the mine. This fact makes fire emergency planning a high priority in the mining industry. A fire emergency plan includes a means of warning miners of the existence of a fire, and the need to evacuate or retreat to a place of refuge. The warning alarm must be fast and must reach all miners, regardless of their location or work activity. Means of fire warning are varied, and include such methods as stench, flashing lights, telephones, and word-of-mouth (messengers). Unfortunately, none of these methods are entirely satisfactory. Stench can be slow and seldom achieves total mine coverage, especially in high-back room-and-pillar mines with low ventilation velocity. Telephones are effective only where personnel are close enough to hear the phone ring. A novel fire warning alarm system has been developed by the U.S. Bureau of Mines which enables instantaneous warning of all underground personnel. The warning alarm is sent by an electromagnetic signal which penetrates through mine rock from a transmitter to small person-wearable receivers. Each miner's cap lamp battery could be equipped with a small receiver and when a fire or other emergency occurs the miner could be alerted to the danger by a blinking of the cap lamp. Testing of prototype equipment has demonstrated that the transmitted signal is capable of penetrating through over a mile of mine rock and activating the receiver. This paper describes the theoretical basis for through-the-rock ultra-low frequency electromagnetic transmission, design of the prototype transmitter and receiver, test results, and status of commercial development of systems utilizing this technology.

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) from discarded personal computer (PC) and household appliances were crushed by mechanical crushing or water explosion to remove mounted parts. More parts were stripped from PCB for PC composed of epoxy resin than from PCB for household appliance composed of phenol resin. In an attempt to raise the copper grade of PCB by removing other components, a carbonization treatment was investigated. The crushed PCB without surface-mounted parts was carbonized under a nitrogen atmosphere at 1073K. After screening, the char was classified by size into oversized pieces, undersized pieces and powder. The copper foil and glass fiber pieces were liberated and collected in undersized fraction. The copper foil was liberated easily from glass fiber by stamping treatment. On the other hand, tantalum capacitors were collected from mounted parts. The tantalum-sintered bodies were separated from molded resins by heat treatment at 723 to 773K in air atmosphere and screening of 0.5mm. Silica was removed and 70% of tantalum grade was obtained after more than 823K heating and separation.

Realising the circular economy (CE) is faced with some significant challenges. Process metallurgy and its infrastructure play key roles at the heart of making the CE work. Therefore, the enabling role of process metallurgy within the CE will be central to the discussion in this paper, touching among others on product and system design as well as the key metallurgical and other process fundamentals that need to be investigated and understood to make the CE a reality. The central role of materials and its processing will be discussed in an integrated circular cities perspective. A key focus will be a discussion on designing a resilient “Smart Materials Grid” using and innovating metallurgical process engineering tools, which will manage the flows through Sustainable Circular Cities. The discussion will be using copper as leitmotiv of the discussion i.e. from copper ore, to metal, to complex products, recycling, product design and simulation and its impact. INTRODUCTION The transformation of our economies from linear to circular models in which waste materials become resources is the focus of the Circular Economy (CE) paradigm. Its important intentions: to take control of the damage we have been doing to the planet to ensure its livability and the welfare of future generations. This can only be achieved through careful utilisation of human, natural and economic resources. The concept is derived from several others (Beaulieu et al., 2015), of which Cradle-to-Cradle, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Industrial Ecology, and Life Cycle Thinking are just a few. Other relevant concepts include resource efficiency (RE), design-for-recycling (DfR), and various others discussed by Blomsma and Brennan (2017) and Homrich et al. (2018), as well as various R-hierarchies e.g. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R). However, does society comprehend these concepts, the actors and actions that influence them and how they interact? Do we know the limits of CE? Does society understand the key role of Copper and other metals to rendering the CE operable? True life cycle and systems thinking, focussed on simulation-based, process and metallurgical design are required to answer these questions. Lieder and Rashid (2016) identify nine widely-varying fields that study the concept ranging from sustainability sciences and engineering to economics, business, law, and social sciences. Overlap between questions addressed highlights the need for interdisciplinary collaboration (Nanz et al., 2017) in the assessment of the current status, and further steps needed to transform to CE. This doesn’t apply just in academia, but also in industry where concrete implementation of CE needs to occur at multiple levels, thus necessitating cooperation between government, civil society and other stakeholders (Beaulieu et al., 2015).

Contaminated neutral drainage (CND) is characterized by the presence of metal concentrations above regulatory requirements at circumneutral pH in mine drainage. The generation of CND by tailings and waste rocks is a growing concern for the mining industry due to increasingly restrictive regulatory requirements. Difficulties in CND prediction arise from the low oxidation rates of sulfide minerals and from the metal retention potential within the wastes. In fact, sorption phenomena may induce an important delay in the development of CND. For now, it is not possible to adequately consider this delay using the prediction tools developed for acid-mine drainage, such as humidity cells, columns and lysimeters. This work aims to present the new approaches currently under study for CND prediction, particularly the use of a chelating agent in kinetic tests. The main challenge of CND prediction is to quantify the metal retention potential of mine wastes, especially when sorption phenomena are involved in metal retention. Three approaches are currently used to overcome this difficulty. Firstly, the sorption potential is estimated using batch sorption studies. The second approach consists of artificially saturating the sorption potential of the mine waste by contact with a contaminated leachate in sorption-enabling conditions until saturation of the retention potential. These approaches both require that the possible metals involved in CND are known (as well as their chemical speciation) prior to the tests, which require an exhaustive material characterization. Although the two methods enable a qualitative estimation of the retention potential of mine wastes, their results are difficult to scale up from the laboratory to the field since some important parameters are not taken into account. A third proposed approach consists of inhibiting metal sorption at the source using chelating agents. The hypothesis is that chelating the metals immediately upon their release from the oxidation of sulfide minerals will inhibit all geochemical interactions (sorption, complexation, secondary mineral precipitation, ion exchange, etc.) between the metal and its environment. The ideal chelating agent will inhibit geochemical interactions after metal release in the drainage waters without having any impact on the sulfide oxidation and acid neutralisation rates. These approaches were tested over a waste rock sample that is known to naturally generate CND after a few decades of weathering. Results show that kinetic testing (weathering cell, ± 70 g samples) using a chelating agent (EDTA) in the leaching water renders higher metal concentrations in the leachates than a control sample without EDTA, suggesting that sorption (and possibly other geochemical interactions) is inhibited. These results suggest that the combination of these approaches can be efficiently used for more precise CND prediction from mine wastes. Future work will be done using the chelating agent approach over larger scale tests such as columns (± 80 kg samples) and field cells (± 100 tons) in order to propose an integrated approach for CND prediction.

Increasing demand for rare earth elements (REE) is expected to lead to new development and expansion in industries processing and or recycling REE. For some industrial operators, sending aqueous waste streams to a municipal wastewater treatment plant, or publicly owned treatment works (POTW), may be a cost effective disposal option. However, wastewaters that adversely affect the performance of biological wastewater treatment at the POTW will not be accepted. The objective of our research is to assess the effects of wastewaters that might be generated by new rare earth element (REE) beneficiation or recycling processes on biological wastewater treatment systems. We have been investigating the impact of yttrium and europium on the biological activity of activated sludge collected from an operating municipal wastewater treatment plant. We have also examined the effect of an organic complexant that is commonly used in REE extraction and separations; similar compounds may be a component of newly developed REE recycling processes. Our preliminary results indicate that in the presence of Eu, respiration rates for the activated sludge decrease relative to the no-Eu controls, at Eu concentrations ranging from <10 to 660 µM. Yttrium appears to inhibit respiration as well, although negative impacts have been observed only at the highest Y amendment level tested (660 µM). The organic complexant appears to have a negative impact on activated sludge activity as well, although results are variable. Ultimately the intent of this research is to help REE industries to develop environmentally friendly and economically sustainable beneficiation and recycling processes.

"A standard triaxial apparatus was set up to perform sliding tests. Slide-hold-slide (SHS) tests, with hold times from 10 to 3000s and at invariant effective confining pressures of 1MPa, incremented to 3MPa and then 5MPa, were conducted on both dry and wet split limestone samples to study the evolution of fracture friction under holding and sliding processes. Limestone fracture shows time-dependent behaviors in SHS tests, friction drops (creep) gradually during hold periods, and recovers (healing) after re-slide. Frictional healing and creep increment are proportional with hold times, while are inversely proportional with effective confining pressures. Moreover, the wet sample displays heavier healing than the dry one, whereas creep increment of the wet sample is lighter than the dry one. We conclude that the evolution of limestone fracture friction is significantly controlled by mechanisms of fluid-rock interactions.INTRODUCTIONThe evolution of the mechanical properties of fractures and faults exerts a critical influence on the behavior of fault zones and on the earthquake cycle. In addition to natural processes, this behavior has broad implications in induced seismicity and influences oil and gas production, the sequestration of carbon dioxide and the disposal of nuclear wastes.Fault friction is typically measured by slide-hold-slide experiments, where fault gouge is deformed at low velocities (<0.1 mms-1) and over small shear offsets (<30 mm) (Dieterich, 1979, 1981; Mair et al., 1999; Marone, 1998, 2004) or alternatively with rotary-shear devices, that enable higher slip velocities over very large shear offsets (Hirose & Shimamoto, 2005; Mizoguchi et al., 2006). Typical experiments (Dieterich, 1972; Marone, 1998; Olsen et al., 1998; Bos & Spiers, 2002; Tenthorey et al., 2003) show significant creep during the holding period and frictional healing (strength gain) upon reloading. Fault creep and healing are often time-dependent with longer hold times typically resulting in greater magnitudes of creep and in strength gains (Tenthorey et al., 2003; Yasuhara et al., 2005; Carpenter et al., 2012). Frictional healing may arise from growth of grain contacts (potentially induced by pressure solution) (Rabinowicz, 1951; Dieterich & Kilgore, 1994; Yasuhara et al., 2005), strengthening of the contacts (correlates with cementation) (Hickman & Evans, 1992; Beeler et al., 1994; Karner et al., 1997; Olsen et al., 1998; Muhuri et al., 2003; Tenthorey et al., 2003; Li et al., 2011) or via other changes in state including changes in porosity and rearrangement of force chains. Experimental evidence (Dieterich, 1979, 1981; Johnson, 1981; Marone & Scholz, 1988; Marone, 1998; Saffer & Marone, 2003; Moore & Lockner, 2007; Ikari et al., 2007; Ikari et al., 2011; Carpenter et al., 2012) quantifies both the mode and magnitude of second-order changes in the velocity-dependent (including velocity- strengthening and weakening) evolution of frictional strength."

"The microstructure of Al-10Si-0.3Mg-0.5Mn alloy with 0.27% Zr and 0.19% V addition was quantitatively analysed and compared to the base material. The addition of Zr and V in the AlSi10Mg alloy exhibit a beneficial effect on the Si modification, resulting in the reduction of the size of eutectic Si particles on both as-cast and T6 conditions. The quantitative image analysis results show that the Zr and V addition and T6 treatment can reduce the size of the intermetallic phases. In addition, the presence of Zr and V is favour to the partial dissolution of the intermetallic phases during the T6 treatment. Different heat treatment procedures were tested to optimize treatment parameters. The mechanical properties of the alloys were evaluated using hardness measurements and tensile tests. The results show that the addition of Zr and V can remarkably improve the mechanical properties on as-cast and T6-treated conditions. The correlation between the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloys is discussed.INTRODUCTION Al-Si-Mg foundry alloys have been widely used in automotive and aerospace industries due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, heat-treatable capability and excellent castability. The alloying elements such as Cu, Mn, Fe are traditionally added into Al-Si-Mg alloys to improve their mechanical properties (Mohamed, Samuel, Samuel & Doty, 2009). In recent years, the attention has been paid to the effect of the transition elements such as Zr, V, Ti, etc, as minor alloying additives, on the properties of aluminum alloys (Elhadari, Patel, Chen, & Kasprzak, 2011; Kasprzak, Amirkhiz & Niewczas, 2014; Shaha, Czerwinski, Kasprzak, Friedman & Chen, 2015; Shaha, Czerwinski, Kasprzak & Chen, 2014; Mahmudi, Sepehrband, Ghasemi & 2006; Meng, Cui, Zhao & Zuo, 2013). Kasprzak et al., (2014) and Shaha et al., (2015) reported that additions of Zr, V, and Ti in Al-Si-Cu-Mg cast alloys can improve the alloy mechanical properties at high temperature by forming stable intermetallics and precipitates on as-cast and heat treatment conditions. On the other hand, the mechanical properties of near-eutectic and eutectic Al–Si cast alloys depend not only on the chemical composition but also, even more importantly, on microstructural features such as the morphology and size of eutectic silicon and intermetallic particles, which are present on both as-cast and heat treatment conditions (Mohamed et al., 2009). However, there is rather limited information on the effect of Zr and V on the microstructure features and mechanical properties of near-eutectic Al-Si-Mg cast alloys."

"RÉSUMÉAu cours de dix dernières années, la compagnie Maghemite a développé, expérimenté et breveté un nouveau precédé de concentration du minerai de fer à partir de la récupération d&apos;hématite présente au bassin de sédimentation de la Compagnie Minière Québec Cartier.A partir de cette nouvelle technologie de concentration par induction, la compagnie Maghemite produit une poudre d&apos;hématite qui est mélangée avec du strontium carbonate à un ratio de l à 6 en poids. Le mélange homogène est achemine sur un disque d&apos;agglomération, et ensuite incorpore dans la fournaise de la Compagnie Minière Québec Cartier. Le temps de cuisson et la température (l200°C) correspondent exactement aux critères nécessaires pour la fabrication d&apos;aimants de céramique, Grade 5, à partir de la poudre de ferrite.IntroductionMeghemite a débuté sa production de poudre de ferrite au printemps 1986et prévoit une production de 20 000 tonnes par année dans cette nouvelle usine. A très court terrne, une usine sera construite pour la production de cinq à dix millions de Iivres d&apos;aimants permanents par annee et à long terme qu&apos;une usine de fabrication par robotique de moteurs à aimants permanents, utilises dans I&apos;industrie automobile. La poudre de ferrite à base de strontium est une compose ferro-magnétique forme d&apos;une molécule d&apos;oxide de strontium et de six molécules d&apos;hernatite. Ce compose d&apos;hexa fluorite de strontium a une force tres puissante et fournit la source d&apos;énergie magnétique la moins dispendieuse comparée aux autres aimants permanents. L&apos;utilisation des aimants de céramique formes d&apos;hexa fluorite de strontium a connu un croissance phenornenale depuis 1970 pour atteindre un marché de 500 millions de livres par année en 1985.II n&apos;y a aucune autre usine de production commerciale de poudre de ferrite à base de strontium au Canada. Le facteur determinant qui a favorise l&apos;etabilissement a Port Cartier est base sur la réduction de 30% du cout des aimants de cerarnique provenant de notre poudre. Notre debouche majeur se situe aux États-Unis et vise la production des aimants de cerarnique pour les moteurs utilises dans les automobiles, les ordinateurs et les appareils ménagers, L&apos;objectif de cette compagnie est de réduire le prix futur des aimants de cerarnique à environ 30% du prix actuel.L&apos;usine commerciale de production de poudre de ferrite est maintenant opérationnelle. Le financement et la construction de cette usine sont Ie résultat de l&apos;opération d&apos;une usine pilote sur une période de 5 ans afin de récupérer l&apos;hematite d&apos;un haut niveau de pureté provenant de résidus de I&apos;usine de bouletage de la Compagnie Minière Québec Cartier (CMQC) à Port Cartier. La fournaise de CMQC est utilisee pour chauffer les boulettes cornposees d&apos;un mélange de carbonate de strontium et d&apos;hematite d&apos;un haut niveau de pureté en étalant environ 5 tonnes à l&apos;heure de ces boulettes au-dessus du tablier de boulettes de fer dans une des fournaises fonctionnant à environ 450 tonnes à l&apos;heure."
