The La Ronge. Kisseynew, Glennie Lake and Flin Flon domains. the main focu for gold exploration in the southeast part of the Saskatchewan Shield, were subject to continental glacial ice advances from the northeast during the Quaternary. Based on forty-four auger hole along with surficial mapping, the general Quaternary stratigraphy in this area is observed to be composed of a lower till unit , an overlying stratified unit of glaciofluvial sand and gravel and/or a glaciolacustrine silt-clay unit. an upper till. and an upper tratified unit. The lower till is commonly found throughout the geological domains except where it has been eroded in glaciofluvial or fluvial channels. Glacial Lake Agassiz fo rmerly covered most of these prospective domains. The lacustrine deposits associated with the lake impede surficial geochemical surveys including soil. lake sediment. and biogeochemical surveys. The approximate extent of clay cover can be predicted from beach elevations. For instance. in the Waddy Lake area. clay i not known to occur above about 1,400 feet (425 m) elevation. Exploration techniques are hampered by clay in at least one third of the volcanic belt. Thi s influence is indicated by the fact that nearly all gold prospect found to date are located above 1,400 feet (425 m) while the area of clay cover is vi rtually unexplored. The upper till i related to a minor ice readvance. This till is the medium often sampled during soil surveys in the area . lts value as a geochemical ampling medium is dependent on the extent of erosional contact with bedrock highs on the lower till. Those areas which are relatively free of lacustrine and fluvial deposits are those where surface geochemical methods work best. In the Waddy Lake volcanic belt approximately 25-50% of the area may be suitable for surficial surveys. The area of the Star Lake prospect occurs above the 1,500 foot (460 m) elevation and was not covered by Lake Agas iz. The effectivene of till sampling as a surface sampling medium was tested in those areas above the clay level. Till orientat ion surveys were carried out at the Star Lake property and the Tower Lake prospect (Waddy Lake area) within the La Ronge Domain . Gold grain counts and analy es of heavy mineral concent rate from 7 kg surface ti ll samples were used to delineate dispersion trains down-ice from mineralization. In addition, the clay fraction and a 30 g (-80 mesh) subsample from the same till sample, were analyzed for gold . The crack propagation behaviour of Zr-2.5Nb pressure tube material was studied through comparison of the measured behaviour with the predicted response from finite element analysis. Three-dimensional finite element simulations of compact tension specimens were performed using the crack tip opening angle as a fracture criterion to allow for crack propagation. To obtain reasonable agreement with the measured behaviour, it was important to capture both the anisotropic plastic deformation behaviour of the Zr-2.5Nb material through use of the Hill-48 yield criterion and damage due to void growth, nucleation, and coalescence through the use of a Gurson-based constitutive model in the simulations.

The lower and the upper parts of the Doushantuo Fonnation, Hubei Province, China, contain silicate-type K-rich beds (illite and feldspar), and intraclastic phosphorites, as well as Ag-V and V deposits in a "Black Shale Series". The K-rich beds fonned in an anoxic basin whereas the phosphorites fonned in a more oxic and higher energy depositional environment. The Black Shale Series occurs in the lower and upper parts of the Doushantuo Fonnation; that in the upper part consists of black illite shale and dark gray dolostone, and contains Se-rich Ag and V deposits. These deposits are of more industrial significance than the previously discovered Ni-Mo polyelement sulfide deposits which occur in the Lower Cambrian Black Shales Series of South China. Studies of lithotype, sedimentary sequence, and geochemistry of the Doushantuo Fonnation have led to more attention being focused on the uppennost Black Shale Series and its Ag-V and V deposits. There are three ore types: black, Ag-V-rich, illite shale; black, V-rich, illite shale; and dark gray, Ag-Vrich, fmely crystalline dolostone. The first two ore types contain 3070 to 5% Corg and the last, 1.25%. The Ag-bearing minerals are naumannite, argyrodite, aguilarite, acanthite, and native silver that occur as inclusions in pyrite associated with barite. Vanadium substitutes for AI in illite and is also related to organic-matter contents. Because (1) the pre-Sinian Kongling Group contains one to three times greater than the Clark Ag value; (2) black, illite shale has a negative Ce anomaly; and (3) there are large occurrences of black, K-rich, tuffaceous, fme siltstone, the sources of Ag are thought to include subaerial and submarine volcanic materials. It is proposed that Ag, V, and Se were absorbed by clay particles and organic matter during syngenetic deposition in an anoxic environment; Ag subsequently was reconcentrated into sulfides and selenides, whereas V was incorporated structurally into illite during early and late diagenesis. These types of Black Shale Series-hosted Ag-V and V deposits are, therefore, considered to be sedimentary-diagenetic in origin.

Industrial clays, including a variety of bentonites and kaolinbased clays in southern Saskatchewan are hosted by Late Cretaceous and Early Tertiary sediments. Ofparticular significance are the deposits of swelling bentonite in the Cretaceous Bearpaw Formation and the kaolinitic clays of the Cretaceous Whitemud and Paleocene Ravenscrag Formations. Swelling bentonite is currently produced in the Wilcox-Truax area by Canadian Clay Products Inc. and yields at least seven different commercial products for a variety of applications. Kaolinitic plastic clays, including ball clay, stoneware and earthenware clay, as well as kaolin in southern Saskatchewan, have a long history of development and use. Products include common and face brick, refractory bricks and other shapes, chinaware, pottery, sewer pipe, chimney flue linings and tiles. Currently clay production is for out-of-province brick manufacturing and for pottery. Recent research and improved technology combined with expansion in certain areas of the global clay industry generally hold promise for a resurgence of a clay-based industry in Saskatchewan. Products of particular promise include: clay tiles; kaolin fillers and extenders; and aluminum as well as related by-products from kaolinitic clays based on the carbochlorination process.

"A low-grade nickel-bearing ore was pre-concentrated on a SB40 laboratory model Falcon Concentrator. Three size fractions, -212+125, -125+75 and -75 µm were tested with the intent to upgrade the nickel content by reducing their content of fine silica, which becomes amorphous during leaching. Separation of silica from nickel-bearing magnesium silicate minerals; hornblende, clinochlore and talc, was more efficient in the finer particle sizes, -125+75 and -75 µm, and at high G-forces. For these two size fractions, nickel was upgraded from 0.06 to 0.07%, with a reduction in silica content from 52.12 to 50.71%. Leaching of feed samples prior to pre-concentration resulted in the formation of amorphous silica, indicative of the presence of fine silica in the samples. Leaching of nickel from the -125+75 µm fraction increased with increasing G-force and feed pulp percent solids, while that of -75 µm was not influenced. The optimum nickel recovery was 15.68% to the Falcon underflow, using the feed size fraction of -75 µm, 30 G and a feed pulp solids content of 10% solids, after 120 minutes of treatment.INTRODUCTION A low-grade South African nickel-bearing ore with about 0.06% Ni was previously studied for atmospheric pressure acid leaching using sulphuric acid. The study was motivated by the continuing search for methods to treat of low-grade ores, which appear to be an increasingly important source of valuable metals as a result of a declining production from rich sulphide ores. Nickel is a base metal that is used as an alloy in steelmaking and chemical industries because of its resistance to corrosion (Haudet et al., 2015). Nickel laterite ores with grades lower than 1.50% Ni are considered to be complex ores, accounting for 70% of the global nickel reserves (MacCarthy et al., 2016). Their complex nature may be attributed to the indefinite mineralogy of these ores, in which nickel may occur in more than one mineral host. In some cases, nickel may be finely disseminated in the ore. The grade of such an ore and complex mineralogy do not justify the application of pyrometallurgical methods for extraction of nickel (Zhu et al., 2012). This suggests that there is a need for less expensive alternative methods of extraction. This study investigates the application of centrifugal gravity concentration, using the Falcon concentrator, followed by leaching to determine the effect of pre-concentration of the ore prior to extraction by atmospheric pressure leaching with sulphuric acid."

An AFMAG survey was flown in 1968 over the Upper Nelson River area, Manitoba. The flight direction was northwest-southeast and flight spacing was 2 miles. In the Cross Lake Subprovince, AFMAG showed that an isolated peridotite outcrop was part of a dike that extended over 80 miles. Diabase dikes are not always marked by an anomaly, but isolated cross-overs, when used in conjunction with geological and magnetic data, permit their extrapolation. Anomalies coincide with areas of sulphide mineralization. In the Flin Fion Subprovince, known and unknown northeast-trending faults are detected. The Berry Creek fault was extended south through Tramping lake, then under the Paleozoic cover. Conductors were detected at, or near, the axes of major synclines within Amisk and Snow Group sediments. Granitic terranes have low conductivity and, because they are characterized by smooth AFMAG profiles, they can be delimited. AF.MAG is being recognized as a geophysical method that can aid geological mapping and interpretation. Its most important contribution to the geologist will be in regions where out-crops are sparse.

In the nickel industry, molten slags produced from a Pierce-Smith converter contain significant amounts of valuable metals in the forms of oxides and physically entrained matte droplets. A slag cleaning step, which takes places in an electrical slag-cleaning furnace, is therefore required to recover the valuable metals as a common practice. Utilization of a waste material from aluminum industry (i.e. spent potlining) as a flux to improve the slag cleaning in terms of both the metal recovery and the operation efficiency was studied by simulation with FactSage program. Results show that the addition of SPL could substantially reduce the slag viscosity due to its fluoride values, thus accelerating the settling of matte droplets. The carbon value in the SPL could also help increase the metal recovery by reducing the valuable metal oxides followed by settling.

"Pre-oxidation and cyanide leaching behavior of gold in the presence of sulfide minerals were reviewed, focused on the effects of oxygen injection in the gold leaching process. Generally, pre-oxidation and gold leaching kinetics from iron sulfide refractory minerals, such as pyrite, pyrrhotite, marcasite, pentlandite and arsenopyrite, can be enhanced with higher dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration. However, most of copper sulfide minerals dissolved well both in water and cyanide solutions, and copper from the minerals consumed DO and cyanide to oxidize and leach. Only in the presence of chalcopyrite, gold leaching was effectively occurred with increasing DO. However, chalcocite and covellite severely retarded gold leaching. Stibnite, an antimony mineral, formed a passive film on the gold surface under any DO conditions, and it slowed gold leaching. This impeding effect can be alleviated by leaching at low pH or adding lead salt. Using oxygen and lead together can make synergistic effect in oxidation of sulfide minerals and can enhance gold extraction. Depending on the mineralogical characteristics of the ore, the optimum DO and lead concentrations can be optimized. However, lead can cause environmental problems, and so its dosage should be minimized or eliminated by substituting it with oxygen injection.INTRODUCTIONGold ores containing sulfide minerals are becoming more significant as high grade gold oxide deposits are continuously becoming difficult to find. In light of this situation, to produce more gold, recovery methods from refractory gold ore containing various sulfide minerals should be investigated. Generally, sulfide minerals have impeding effects on gold leaching: formation of a passive film on the gold surface, high consumption of chemicalssuch as cyanide and oxygenduring leaching, reduction of gold cyanide by sulfide ions, etc. (Senanayake, 2008). Therefore, sulfides must be properly treated for better gold recovery. Pre-oxidation of sulfide minerals by injecting pure oxygen can decrease the impeding effects in gold leaching. Prior to cyanidation, sulfide minerals can be oxidized to metal hydroxide and sulfate form, which consume negligible cyanide in the following cyanidation circuit (Bodnaras et al., 1993). Moreover, gold cyanidation can be enhanced by increasing concentration of the dissolved oxygen (DO). In general, the optimum concentration ratio of [CN-]/[O2] is calculated as 6, but it goes higher in the real system (Marsden &House, 2006), which means that the reaction is typically controlled by DO concentration."

"This paper was' prepared to emphasize the part that coal washing tables can play in the development of many of the reserves of coking coals in Western Canada_ It covers a brief history of the development of the coal washing table through the present third-generation unit, which suspends from overhead steel beams and is driven by a counter-rotating gear mechanism. The design and operation of this unique table are covered in detail.An analysis of actual operating data is included, with explicit statistical breakdowns of the table products. The data used were actually produced by operating coal companies, and also produced by the United States Bureau of Mines while gathering data for a research investigation. Table feed capacity is discussed, as well as performance criteria and the parameters of relative table performance. Several typical table flowsheets are described, emphasizing the specific reasons for their use. The paper covers the past and present value of the table to the United States coal industry, and makes mention of the newest addition to the family of suspended, multiple-deck, counter-rotating, gear-driven, coal washing tables, the CONCENCO ""88"" Deister table."

"We investigated the electrochemical corrosion behavior of commercial permanent magnetic material (NdFeB alloy) in 0.1 M NaH2PO4 solution (pH:4.75) containing 0 – 1000 ppm of chloride at room temperature (298 K). The material was evaluated in magnetized and demagnetized condition with different surface preparations such as: Ni-Cu-Ni coated, uncoated (bare), and anodized (in fluoride containing ethylene glycol at 60 V for 15 minutes to form a thick nanoporous oxide surface). The nickel coated magnetic sample showed reasonable pitting corrosion resistance up to 100 ppm chloride addition. The uncoated samples showed passivity in chloride free phosphate solution. Chloride additions caused pitting and the pitting protection potential was equal to the corrosion potential with 100 ppm chloride addition. Demagnetization did not alter the electrochemical polarization. However, the passive film formed on the magnetic sample showed higher charge carrier density than the film formed on the demagnetized sample. INTRODUCTIONSintered NdFeB permanent magnets exhibit excellent magnetic properties such as large energy product [(BH)max > 450 kJ/m3], high saturation magnetization (1.6 Tesla), and high coercivity (1.2 – 2.08 x 106 A/m) (Sugimoto, 2011). However, the NdFeB magnets are prone to corrosion attack because of the presence of Nd-rich intermetallic phases, such as Nd4Fe (Jurczyk & Jakubowicz, 2000). Nd-rich and B-rich intermetallic phases are distributed in a matrix of Nd2Fe14B tetragonal ferromagnetic compound in a permanent magnet. Generally, several types of Nd-rich phases are present in the magnet with Fe:Nd ratios ranging from 1:1.2 to 1:7. The volume fractions of Nd-rich and B-rich (Nd1+xFe4B4 type) phases are about 10% and 7% respectively (Li, Ma, Li, & Wang, 2011) . Among these intermetallic phases, Nd-rich phase has the most active electrochemical potential. Therefore, dissolution of this phase occurs in preference to other phases by galvanic corrosion when exposed to moisture. Since Nd-rich phases are present at the grain boundaries of the Nd2Fe14B matrix, corrosion leads to disintegration of the magnet."

"This paper reviews the main concepts ruling the design, implementation and performance of active explosion barrier systems for underground coal mines in the USA. The document examines the parameters needed for the design of this type of system, such as overpressure and flame speed, suppressant deployment speed and duration time of the active barrier. The document also discusses the available solutions for gassy mines and the concepts behind the selection of machined mounted and roadway active explosion barrier systems. The paper includes a review of active explosion barrier systems developed in the USA and South Africa. The paper provides an overview of the current status of this technology in the underground coal mining industry in the USA, and the possible implementation of such systems. The paper concludes with the identification of the future work needed for the successful implementation of the systems in several conditions to enhance the safety of underground coal mine operations and to provide more tools to the miners for their safety.INTRODUCTIONUnderground coal mine explosions can be addressed in two ways, through prevention or mitigation. The United States mining industry practices have emphasized the prevention of explosions in underground coal mines, with little being done to mitigate the explosion once it occurs. Despite successful practices for the prevention of underground coal mine explosions in the US, the threat of an explosion does still exist. Other mining countries around the world have developed and implemented mitigation systems such as active explosion barriers in their underground mines. In the 1970s, the United States Bureau of Mines (USBM) carried out extensive research on the use of active or triggered explosion barrier systems in the US; however, they are not currently used.Explosion barrier systems do not prevent explosions but mitigate the propagation of the shockwave and flame to other areas of the mine. The use of active explosion barrier systems enhance the safety of underground coal mines. Active or triggered explosion barriers will detect the arrival of the shockwave or flame front of the explosion and release inert material to suppress or extinguish the flame. The technology required for active barrier systems is readily available based on their presence in other mining countries and must be adapted for their use in US coal mines. The adaption must consider the coal dust and methane concentrations in US coal mines, the mine geometry, and the mining equipment used."

In recent years, increasing attention has been focused on the hydrometallurgical treatment of base metals feeds, especially nickel laterites and polymetallic sulphides. One approach that has received some attention is the use of high?concentration chloride solutions (brines), which are now showing some promise after initial setbacks. Iron is usually the major component in the base metal feed to such processes, and if physical means cannot be used to remove it, then the iron concentration in the pregnant leach solution is always significant. This paper presents some of the background theory on the hydrolysis of iron in high-strength (>3M) chloride brines, and discusses the roles of temperature, solution concentration and free acidity. It is shown that the system is complex, but that crystalline and readily-filterable hematite can be generated, and that the system has a low energy requirement.

Since May of 2000, Mogas Industries, in partnership with F.W. Gartner Thermal Spraying Co. and using the services of Perpetual Technologies, has invested time, energy, and resources towards developing novel ball valves for high-pressure acid-leach (HPAL) service. In addition to developing new valve designs, an aggressive coatings development effort has been undertaken to improve the protective quality of the coatings so as to enhance the performance and extend the life of valves in severe HPAL conditions. In 2001, Mogas Industries qualified and applied a nanostructured titanium oxide (n-TiO2) coating for gold and nickel/cobalt HPAL services. The n-TiO2 coating provided dramatically superior protection against abrasive and erosive wear, fared very well against high-pressure autoclave corrosion testing, and has performed well in HPAL service.

"A series of experiments were conducted to assess the impact of zinc additions on the morphology and soundness of the interface of Al-Mg compound castings. It was found that high amounts of zinc (>15wt%) are necessary to affect the morphology and microstructure of the interface. At these zinc concentration levels, the formation of the zinc-rich phases t1 and ? were observed along with the Al-Mg intermetallic phases ß and ?. The micro hardness of all phases across the interface was found to be similar, ~200 Hv. This even hardness gradient is thought to avoid mechanical failure in the interface under load. In samples containing large concentrations of zinc (>15wt%), the formation of bubble shaped voids as well as the complete transformation of the aluminium alloy was observed. While the exact mechanism causing the voids has not been identified it thought to be connected to the Kirkendall effect. INTRODUCTION Conventional single material components are increasingly failing to meet the demands, in terms of cost and performance, of the transport industry. Compound castings have been identified as a promising alternative as they possess a number of benefits (Bührig-Polaczek, Röth, Baumeister, Nowack, & Sussmann, 2006). Compound casting is described as a process in which a metallic melt is cast around a solid metal shape. Preliminary research has concluded that for the stability of such a resultant hybrid structure it is imperative that both metals form a sound connection via form closure, force closure, or material bonding. A continuous material bond between the two metals is also highly desirable as the formation of a crevice between the metals could lead to galvanic corrosion, particular in a humid environment (Lao, 2013; Rübner, Günzl, Körner, & Singer, 2011). Even though Al-Mg compound castings could offer the biggest potential in terms of weight savings to date only a limited amount of research concerning such structures exists."

Nowadays, great interests are rising on aluminum alloys for the applications at elevated temperature, driven by the automotive and aerospace industries requiring high strength, light weight and low cost engineering materials. As one of the most promising candidates, Al-Mn-Mg 3004 alloys is found to possess considerably high mechanical properties and creep resistance at elevated temperature resulted from the precipitation of a large number of thermally stable dispersoids during heat treatment. In present work, the effect of Fe contents on the evolution of microstructure as well as high temperature properties of Al-Mn-Mg 3004 alloys has been investigated. Results show that the dominant intermetallic changes from a-Al(MnFe)Si at 0.1 wt.% Fe to Al6(MnFe) at both 0.3 wt. % and 0.6 wt. % Fe. In the Fe range of 0.1 to 0.6 wt.% studied, a significant improvement on mechanical properties at elevated temperature has been observed due to the precipitation of dispersoids, and the best combination of compression strength and creep resistance at 300°C is obtained in the alloy with an intermediate Fe content (0.3 wt.%) with finest size and highest volume fraction of a-Al(MnFe)Si dispersoids. The superior properties obtained at 300°C makes 3004 alloys more promising for high temperature applications. The relationship between the Fe content and the precipitation of stable dispersoids as well as the materials properties has been discussed.

Introduction The property of Normetal Mining Corporation is in Desmeloizes township, Quebec, twelve miles north of Dupuy on the main line of the Canadian National railway from Quebec city co Cochrane, Ontario. The ore bodies occur within a band of highly sheared and sericitized agglomerate which strikes N.60°W. and clips 82° north. Along a zone 1,000 feet or more in length and of variable width, the agglomerate has been replaced by copper, zinc, and iron sulphides, with copper usually predominant on the hanging-wall side and pyrite replaced in part by sphalerite on the footwall. A northsouth diabase dyke cuts through the ore zone near its east end. The Normetal mill produces a copper concentrate and a zinc concentrate which are shipped, respectively, to Noranda, Que., and Newcastle, Penn., U.S.A., for further treatment. The present paper deals with the milling of ore from what is known as No. 3 orebody. This is a lenticular body of high-zinc ore lying co the east of the diabase dyke, along the line of strike of the main ore zone, which extends westward from the dyke. On its northern side, No. 3 orebody is in contact along most of its length with a narrow band of copper ore which is highly oxidized.

"In this study, hydraulic conductivity (K) geostatistics were used to predict residence time distribution of well-to-well flow. Flow profiles, fracture density measurements, and pumping tests were available from the highly fractured Florence Copper in situ leaching site. The flow profiles were used to establish the statistical distribution and spatial autocorrelation of K. Two tests were used for validation. The first test confirmed that fracture density and K are autocorrelated over similar length scales. In the second test, Monte Carlo flow simulations successfully recreated the results of pumping tests. Flow sim¬ulations were used to stochastically model well-to-well residence time distribution. RÉSUMÉ Dans cette étude, nous utilisons la géostatistique de la conductivité hydraulique (K) pour prévoir la distribution des temps de séjour (DTS) de l’écoulement entre les puits. Des profils de l’écoulement, des mesures de la densité des fractures et des essais de pompage existaient pour le site fortement fracturé de lixiviation in situ de Florence Copper. Les profils de l’écoulement ont permis d’établir la distribution statistique et l’autocorrélation spatiale de K. Deux essais ont servi à la validation ; le premier a confirmé que la densité des fractures et K sont autocorrélés sur des échelles de longueur similaires ; quant au second, des simulations d’écoulements de type Monte Carlo sont parvenues à reproduire les résultats des essais de pompage. Les simulations d’écoulement ont servi à établir un modèle stochastique de la DTS de l’écoulement entre les puits.INTRODUCTION In situ leaching is the circulation of a dilute acid or base solution in the subsurface, via a series of injection and recovery wells, to dissolve a target metal. In situ leach modelling requires forecasting the residence time distribution (RTD) of flow between wells. In fractured formations such as copper porphyry deposits, order-of-magnitude variations in hydraulic conductivity (K) can result in highly channeled flow, resulting in a heavy tailed RTD (Becker & Shapiro, 2003; Kang, Le Borgne, Dentz, Bour, & Juanes, 2015). Channeling through preferential pathways has impacted copper recovery at several past in situ leaching field tests (Cathles, Glenn, Lenzi, Nigrini, Deans, & Huff, 1978; Ahlness & Pojar, 1983; Schmidt, Earley, & Friedel, 1994; Sinclair & Thompson, 2015). Correct selection of forging parameters is very important to produce sound superalloy parts. In this investigation nickel-iron base superalloy IN901 successfully forged and seal spacer, which is a part of airplane with about 11 kg weight has been produced. Forging has been performed on the basis of hot compression results, which show deformation above 1100°C associated with dynamic recrystallization (DRX) which can increase the workability of material. On the other hand annealing at 1100°C decreases the flow stress during hot compression, and then increases the material formability. Then billets annealed at 1100°C in electrical furnace for 24 hours and reheated again to 1100°C before forging. Initial square cross section billet with 128mm side and 202mm length forged immediately after reheating by 80MN mechanical press. Specimens forged in five steps: upsetting, three steps molding and finishing. Preformed and molded specimens reheated in electrical furnace before later step of forming. Finally specimens trimmed by 1 OMn mechanical press and hot set by hydraulic press and then cooled in air to room temperature. Results show that reheating temperatures has been selected correctly because there isn't any surface crack and die cavities filled completely by forging material. Material flow has been carried out properly and there isn't any defect in critical points especially in extradoses and intradoses. Microstructural examinations show that grain boundaries contain Ti-rich globular particles that formed during cooling.

Abstract - Regional and orientation geochemical stream sediment surveys were carried out by the Quebec Department of Energy and Resources in southwestern Quebec, over a part of the Mont­ Laurier Terrane of the Grenville Province. The area contains some small stratiform zinc deposits. The response of Zn mineralization to geochemical surveys is weak; the known mineralization is not defined by anomalous samples and consistent patterns. This study uses a technique that increases the geochemical signature of Zn mineralization in filtering out geochemical background components related to lithologies and surficial conditions. The background variations were modelled using principal component analysis, and the filtering technique consists of the partial reconstruction of the data matrix from results of principal component analysis . The filtering procedure considerably enhances the Zn anomalies located in the catchment basins of Zn deposits, and defines some new anomalies in proximity to the marbles of the Mont-Laurier Terrane, the principal metallotect of Zn mineralization.
