"The Trout Lake stockwork molybdenum deposit is located in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia, 50 km southeast of Revelstoke. The property is being explored by a joint venture between Newmont Exploration of Canada and Esso Minerals Canada.The deposit is associated with a small granodiorite stock of Upper Cretaceous age (76 Ma) which has variably altered the surrounding schists, argillites and marbles of the lower Paleozoic Lardeau Group to hornjelsic biotite schists and skarn. The intrusive is composed of a small stock and an intersecting network of northeast- and northwest-trending dykes at surface that coalesce downward into a larger stock. There are two main phases of intrusion, with an earlier quartz porphyritic granodiorite cut by an intra-mineral ""quartz diorite"" porphyry. A strong sub-vertical north-trending fault controls the distribution of the mineralized stock work and displays post-mineral movement.Molybdenite, accompanied by pyrite and pyrrhotite, is mainly present along the margins of veins in a well-developed quartz stock work, but occasionally is strongly disseminated in microfractured intrusives. The stock work is strongest in and around the contacts of the intrusive and its apophyses, and occurs over a vertical range of more than 1,000 m. As defined by the 0.10% MoS] contour, the main mineralized zone is up to 300 m long by 200m wide. Preliminary drill-indicated reserves, currently being revised, are approximately 50 million tonnes of 0.23% MoS2, within which are several zones of higher-grade material. Hydrothermal alteration, as defined by quantitative X-ray diffraction studies on composite core sections, is composed of a central quartz/K-feldspar/albite/minor biotite zone coincident with molybdenum mineralization, which is overlapped by a slightly later, antipathetic quartz/ sericite/pyrite zone. Ankeritic carbonate is also a common alteration mineral, but only traces of fluorite, and no topaz or sulfosalts, have been observed. Analysis for trace elements such as Sn, W, Bi, Sb, As, Hg, U, Ag, Au, Mn, Cu, Pb, Zn and F has been limited except for Sn and W, which appear to be zoned inside and outside the Mo zone respectively; the other elements do not show detectable patterns thus far."

A significant portion of Outotec's business relates to the application of fluidized bed for processing a wide range of industrial materials, including gold ore and gold concentrate. As part of the former Lurgi and Boliden organization, our division constructed the first industrial reactor for roasting sulphur-bearing materials in 1950, based on the principles of fluidized bed technology. This process, when combined with efficient heat recovery and off-gas treatment and its conversion to sulphuric acid, became the standard for processing sulphur-bearing ores. In the last 60 years we have delivered more than 265 plants and developed (in addition to the standard fluidized bed solution) variants of the fluidization technology, such as the circulating fluidized bed and the bubbling fluidized bed. This paper describes the different options of the fluidized bed technology for gold roasting reflecting on main process design criteria.

"Microseismic systems at five mines in the Sudbury Basin provide the basic data for Falconbridge Limited's rockburst research. Daily and long-term analysis of this data as well as underground observations has confirmed the fault-slip mechanism of rock bursting at three mines. A detailed analysis of the complete history of Falconbridge Mine is being conducted and Distinct Element numerical models are being used to simulate both the stick-slip behaviour of faults and the dynamic effects of the induced vibrations on rock and backfill. University research includes acoustic tomographic imaging of the rock mass based on seismic wave propagation and collection of full micro seismic waveforms to allow application of advanced seismic and statistical analysis techniques. INTRODUCTIONFalconbridge Limited currently has five mines operating in the Sudbury Basin: East, Lockerby, Onaping, Fraser, and Strathcona Mines, which along with the Falconbridge open pit produced 2.8 million tonnes of ore in 1986. The underground mines range from about 600 m to 2000 m below surface and one of the consequences of mining at these depths is the occurrence of rockbursts.Research into rockburst phenomena at Falconbridge began over 25 years ago and research is continuing in an effort to avoid the problem by improved mine design, to protect mine openings from damage by design of effective support systems and to better understand the processes which precede a major fault slip rockburst. Since the early 1980s, significant progress has been made due principally to micro seismic monitoring and advances in microcomputer technology coupled with detailed underground investigations.It is now possible to identify the fault-slip mechanism as the cause of many of the rockbursts which occur at Falconbridge mines. By gaining an understanding of effect of mining-induced stresses on the pre-existing geological structures, areas which may experience rock bursting can be identified and can be protected against severe damage by appropriate support techniques."

This paper covers the various aspects of the Critical Path Method and mentions some of its applications in the mining and metallurgical fields. "IntroductionExperience at Eldorado has been gained with a variety of mill feeds. That is, the actual mode of occurrence of the pitchblende varies to such an extent that gravity concentration has at times been decidedly unattractive and at others highly successful. Because of this, the type of ore necessary for economic recovery of pitchblende have become well known. Also, those types which do not lend themselves to gravity concentration have become familiar. In general, it may be said that when the pitchblende occurs free, to a large extent, from sulphides or arsenides of high specific gravity, and when the bulk of the pitchblende is localized rather than disseminated, excellent recoveries, high ratios of concentration, and good grades of concentrates , will result from proper gravity concentration. On the other hand, if the ore contains pitchblende intimately or otherwise mixed with large quantities of arsenides or sulphides, or if the pitchblende is finely disseminated, gravity concentration alone will yield high recoveries only at the expense of very low-grade concentrates and low ratios of concentration.According to Taggart, the ease with which gravity separation may be effected is determined by the value of the following ratio: []It is stated that when the ratio is above 1.75, gravity separation can be expected to be easy. Thus with pure U308 (S.G. over 9) and gangue consisting chiefly of siliceous material, the process can he expected to be entirely successful even when carried on at very fine sizes. Unfortunately, the term pitchblende covers a great diversity of material. Although some of the mineral occurs pure enough to have a specific gravity of about 7, the average is much lower than this and is probably well under 5. Some of the pitchblende particles have a specific gravity so low that gravity concentration fails completely. It may also be said that no degree of grinding will produce free pitchblende of sufficient density from such particles. This, then, represents the most important limitation to the application of gravity separation to pitchblende ores."

The beginning of the electroforming technology dates itself on the beginning of the industrial revolution 1800 to 1820 approximately. Basis was the existence of electricity in order to be able to drive the electro-form-process. With the development of the electroforming, big names of the science-history, like Michael Faraday (1791? 1867), Sir Humphry Davy (1778?1829), Max Schlöter (1878?1946), Werner von Siemens (1816?1892), and many others. Already about 1840, the first monograph originated to electroforming (38). While in the first years the electro-forming most extensive only to the coating of art - or other usefulness-objects was used. At the beginning of the 20th century the formation of objects from pure metals became more and more, later also from alloys to application. One of the first bigger electroforming factory, the ?Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik? was working 1894 in Geislingen / Steige, Germany. In the industrial application, the electroforming-technology is to be imagined away for miscellaneous coatingtasks and the form-body-preparation no longer today (18). A little bit confusing is the german name ?galvano-technology?. It based on the Italian physiologist and naturalist Luigi Galvani (1737 ? 1798). This technically seen is however wrong, right, the name is electroforming. The physical bases were founded mainly by Michael Faraday and Sir Humphry Davy.

Durant les années 1955 à 1961, plusieurs campagnes d?exploration ont été menées sur la zone Bond dans la partie sud-ouest de l?anneau nord de la carbonatite d?Oka (propriété de Niocan, figure 1). Les zones minéralisées HWM1 et HWM2 sont découvertes à l?ouest de la propriété. Un des forages, le S-60, avait intercepté 80 mètres de minéralisation à 0.71% Nb2O5 à l?est des zones HWM1 et HWM2 mais aucun autres travaux d?exploration n?avaient été réalisés sur cette interception minéralisée. En 1995, Niocan réalise une campagne de forage pour mieux définir la zone minéralisée recoupée par le forage S-60. En 1997, une seconde campagne de forage détermine un tonnage de 14.37 Mt avec une teneur de 0.66 % Nb2O5 pour la zone S-60 (Marcotte et Gagnon, 1997). Le complexe carbonatitique d'Oka se situe à environ 35 km à l?ouest de Montréal sur la rive nord du lac des Deux-Montagnes. Sa formation remonte au Crétacé précoce (entre 117 à 123 Ma). La carbonatite d?Oka fait partie de la suite d'intrusions alcalines que constituent les collines Montérégiennes. Le complexe a une forme allongée (7.2 km par 2.4 km) orientée NO-SE (figure 1). Il est intrusif dans des roches précambriennes constituées d?anorthosites au nord et de gneiss charnokitique au sud (Gold, 1963) appartenant à la Formation de la colline d?Oka. Les gneiss au contact du complexe sont fénitisés sur une épaisseur qui peut atteindre jusqu?à 60 mètres. Les roches carbonatitiques forment la série dominante du complexe et elles sont composées principalement de calcite (> 50 %) à gros grain et parfois rubanées. Les minéraux accessoires les plus communs sont la biotite, le pyroxène, la monticellite, la magnétite, l?apatite, la forstérite, la mélilite, le pyrochlore, la pérovskite, la niocalite, la pyrite et la pyrrhotite (Gold, 1963).

"There is a very small fraction of wireless experts in the world with experience in underground installations and an even smaller fraction that have experience specific to building mine shafts. This is why in 2009, Redpath created its own system to meet the demands specific to shaft construction. Today, after a dozen shaft installations and several design iterations, Redpath has the expertise and experience required to implement a proper wireless system in any shaft configuration.This document will explain multiple proven wireless communication designs optimized for shaft construction and suitable for permanent use. This includes line of sight installations up to 1200m, short range mesh networks, and the latest patent pending Integrated Leaky Feeder Mesh Network. Additionally, this document will explore the lessons that Redpath learned in its effort to interconnect the people and tools needed to build a mine shaft.INTRODUCTIONAfter a decade of research, several design iterations and a dozen application examples, Redpath has resolved two wireless network architectures to best serve mine shaft construction projects.The long range line-of-sight (LOS) wireless network is the most cost effective and easiest to install, but requires an unobstructed line of sight between the working area and the shaft collar. As such, long range LOS is best suited for ventilation shafts or during the first phase of shaft sinking, before the shaft is equipped.Alternatively, a mesh network uses radios installed at pre-determined intervals in the shaft and on each conveyance. A wireless mesh uses antennas to bridge intervals between shaft radios, whereas Redpath’s integrated leaky feeder mesh network (patent pending) bridges these intervals with radiating cable, commonly referred to as a “leaky feeder” cable. Both of these mesh configurations can provide continuous reception for hoist conveyances travelling in shafts without line-of-sight, making them ideal for shaft equipping and even permanent installations in both mine shafts and lateral drifts.BACKGROUNDHoist operators receive operating commands using what are commonly referred to as “bell signals.” These instructions are delivered in a series of coded pulses on a spring returned pull cord or push button that is typically hardwired back to the hoist operator’s control room from one of many locations in the mine shaft. During the construction phase of a traditional mine shaft, a worker riding inside the sinking bucket would have to reach out to a pull cord installed on the shaft wall to send a stop command to the hoist operator. Today, Redpath’s modern shaft sinking projects use fully enclosed personnel carriers to protect the workers riding inside, specifically preventing workers from reaching out into the shaft while the hoist is in motion. The enforcement of this safety feature on all shaft projects in 2008 forced the engineering group at Redpath to find a suitable wireless solution for hoist communication to facilitate shaft construction.THE IDEAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR MINE SHAFT CONSTRUCTIONIdeally, the shaft communication system should not transform the tools to which the miners have grown accustomed. It should support the push-to-talk functionality of traditional VHF handsets and the standard belling system that has been used for decades. Additionally, it should be able to support a vendor independent framework upon which new devices and features can be added. Introduction In October, 1945, the Coal Division of the Institute appointed a Committee on The Use of Electricity in Coal Mines, with the following terms of reference: ?To study under which conditions in each deposit the use of electricity can be brought closer to the coal face and which types of electrical machinery can be recommended?. It was not until the beginning of this year (1946) that the Committee had a chance to convene and .discuss the conclusions which are embodied in this report. Mr. McLeod, as Chief Electrician of the Dominion Coal Company, is intimately concerned with that Company's installations, and Mr. McIsaac, as Electrical Inspector of Coal Mines for Nova Scotia, is well acquainted with installations in all coal mines in the Province. The knowledge of both has been very valuable in helping to draft this report.

"Whitehorse Copper is a 2600-ton-per-day underground copper mine located within the city limits of Whitehorse, Yukon . In early 1978, due to increasingly difficult ground conditions. it was decided to investigate the conversion from longhole open stoping to vertical crater retreat mining. On-site crater testing by C-I-L demonstrated the feasibility of V.C.R. mining at Whitehorse Copper.After some investigation. a down-the-hole drilling rig was chosen and drilling began in November /978. Blasting began in June /979. and to September 1980 approximately one million tons of ore had been blasted. In-field changes to both drilling and blasting techniques have been implemented. Some of these changes were dictated by problems encountered; others were made to improve efficiencies.To date. V.C.R. mining has proven successful from a drilling and blasting aspect.IntroductionWhitehorse Copper Mines Ltd ., a division of Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co., Limited , is a 2600-Lp.d. underground copper mine. The plant site is located I mile west of the Alaska Highway, and approximately 7 miles south of Whitehorse city center. Production is from the Little Chief orebody, and total output is from vertical crater retreat stopes.The Little Chief and Middle Chief orebodies at Whitehorse Copper had original reserves in excess of 6 million tons, most of which graded 2.00/0 copper or higher . The orebodies are typical skarn deposits that have developed along the contact between an intrusive diorite and a limestone-quartzite flank pendant. The limestone has been metasomatized to form a calcium-magnesium skarn which, along the limestone / quartzite contact, has locally further developed into a mineralized magnetite-serpentine skarn. The principal copper minerals are bornite and chalcopyrite, with minor chalcocite and valleriite. Skarn gangue minerals are serpentine, diopside, garnet, epidote, calcite and wollastonite. Appreciable values in gold with some silver are present and recovered as well."

SHORTLY after the commencement of operations at the Sullivan concentrator, the use of a pilot table was instituted in order to present a visual control of various products by showing the amount of galena still present in the tailing from several stages of flotation. Among the products so treated, the final tailing was later included. It was sratifying to note that very little free galena was escaping, but a fine streak o a whitish mineral appeared at the concentrate zone. This mineral was identified as cassiterite. The amount was small and the newly recognized component in an already complex ore was considered primarily as of academic interest. However, the problem of recovering a usable metal was intriguing and, as opportunity presented itself in temporary lulls in research on Sullivan and other ores, the concentration of tin was a useful 'bit of knitting' to go on with. It was recognized from the start that the bulk of the mill tailing would have to be floated and the residue subjected to gravity treatment. Since one of the predominating features of Sullivan concentration operation has been the necessity of fine grinding, the problem of gravity concentration was thereby intensified. Several batch runs were made, and sufficient pulp was treated to produce about one ton of final tin concentrate assaying 67 percent tin. The overall recovery was under 30 percent and the estimated profit at full tonnage was only marginal. Testing was resumed several years later, when the price of tin again appeared attractive, in an attempt to develop a more compact plant with better recovery of tin. The weakness of the original plan of concentration was the large number of tables required to treat a feed so low in tin.

Established in 1997, Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Mining Matters (PDACMM) is a registered charitable organization dedicated to providing Earth Science education to grade school students. Through the development and distribution of educational programs and materials, PDACMM informs students of Canada?s geology and mineral resources as well as promoting awareness of the importance of rocks, minerals, metals and the mining industry. PDACMM also co-ordinates with other charitable organizations and government agencies to provide support or to work in tandem with them and reach as many young people as possible. Although PDACMM became a charitable organization in 1997, it actually has its? roots in 1994 when the Grade 7 program Mining Matters/Une Mine de Renseignments was developed to help teachers bring geology and mining into the classroom. Over 2100 of these resource kits were distributed to teachers across Ontario during the period 1995 to 1998. This unit won national recognition when it received the prestigious Partnership Focus award from the Conference Board of Canada for ?promoting science literacy for the world of work?. Due to the phenomenal success of these kits, a Grade 4 kit entitled Deeper and Deeper/Aller au Fond Des Choses was developed in 1998 in response to the opportunity provided by the new Ontario curriculum released at that time. Over 2600 of these kits were distributed throughout Ontario and there is a substantial waiting list of teachers hoping PDACMM will be able to raise enough money for another print run.

The following description and discussions are based on two years' experience in the district as Field Manager and Geologist for Attwood Copper Mines, Limited. The Attwood project was organized by Dr. D. F. Kidd to re-examine the Boundary mining camp. Thanks are due to Dr. Kidd, both for his intelligent guidance during the project and for his permission to publish this paper. Much of the data and many of the interpretations presented are credited to the work of, and to discussion with, Dr. W. H. White, Consultant Geologist, who worked for two field seasons on the project. "Abstract - The Draa Sfar polymetallic deposit, at about 16 km NW of Marrakech in Morocco, is a massive sulfide zone at the contact between an underlying volcanic and an overlying clastics sequence. The mineralized body is a flat lens with schistosity and "boudinage," tilted to the west and with a strong dip to the east. The lens extends over a strike length of about 2 km and from surface to a depth of about 1 km, with thickness varying from 1 m to almost 30 m. It has been intersected by about one hundred surface drill holes and, in its south part, by about thirty underground fan holes from two exploration levels at depths of 300 m and 400 m. On these two levels, the massive sulfide zone has been channel sampled over a cumulative length of about 0.7 km. Results from drill and channel samples are used to estimate the resources of the orebody according to several methods: sections, polygons around intercepts on a longitudinal plan, grids on the same longitudinal plan with various distance weighting methods including kriging and, finally, a 3D grid with the same range of interpolators. A comparison of the various estimates delineates the important factors in deriving resources for this type of deposit. Those factors are mostly geological and related to the interpretation of the geometry of the two limiting surfaces of the zone. For the 3D gridding, the authors have devised a new and original method that constrains the interpolation of blocks from samples to a geometry of limiting surfaces. The resulting model shows internal grade variations that parallel fluctuations of zone thickness and orientation without having to re-orientate the search window in each block. Résumé - Le gisement polymétallique de Draa Sfar, situé à environ 16 km au NW de Marrakech est un horizon de sulfure massif au contact d’une formation volcano-sédimentaire de base et d’une formation détritique sur-jacente. Le corps minéralisé se présente sous forme d’une méga-lentille aplatie, schistosée, boudinée et déversée vers l’ouest avec un fort pendage vers l’est s’étendant sur une longueur de 2 km et une profondeur de près de 1 km avec une épaisseur variant de moins d’un mètre à près de 30 m. Il a été reconnu par plus d’une centaine de sondages de surface et, dans sa partie sud, par une trentaine de trous souterrains en éventail à partir de deux niveaux à des profondeurs respectives de 300 m et 400 m. Sur ces mêmes niveaux, des traçages ont permis de rainurer le minerai sur une longueur cumulée de 0.7 km. Les données de sondage et de rainurage ont servi à estimer les ressources du gisement selon plusieurs méthodes : sections, polygones sur longitudinale, grille sur longitudinale avec différentes pondérations en fonction des distances incluant le krigeage et enfin grille tridimensionnelle avec le même éventail de pondérateurs. La comparaison des estimés obtenus permet de mettre en évidence les facteurs importants dans l’estimation des ressources de ce type de gisement. Ces facteurs sont essentiellement géologiques et relatifs à l’interprétation de la géométrie des limites des corps minéralisés. Pour l’estimation sur grille tridimensionnelle, on a mis au point une technique originale qui calque l’interpolation des blocs à partir des échantillons sur cette géométrie des surfaces de contact. Le modèle résultant montre des variations internes de teneurs qui épousent les fluctuations d’épaisseur et d’orientation de la zone sans qu’il soit nécessaire de ré-orienter les fenêtres de recherche dans chaque bloc."

Laboratocy flarmnability tests were perfonned on dust samples from Fraser Mine in a 1.2 L Lindenburg horizontal tube furnace to detennine the percentage of sulphur oxidized during ignition. The explosion pot ential of sulphide dusts depends on their degree of spontaneous oxidat ion, which was measured by the quantitative analysis of so2 gas released during ignition. Test results indicated that dusts with low sulphur content could exhibit a higher degree of oxidation than a sample with high sulphur content. txlst characterisation using image analysis techniques suggests that the structure and the texture of dust are important factors influencing the explosibility of sulphide dust at ignition temperatures. Therefore for safe mine operations% sulphur content cannot be considered as a reliable single index that could be used to predict the potential of a sulphide dust explosion. Physical, chemical and mineralogical characterisation of dust plays an important role in the detennination of suitable indices for the prediction and prevention of sulphide ore dust explosions.

Orebodies of the Renison Bell - Mt. Bischoff tinfield in Tasmania are stratabound, conformable lenses of massive cassiterite-bearing pyrrhotite, with underlying discordant, fault-fracture-controlled and more siliceous ore. The deposits occur in eugeosynclinal, trough-deposited sedimentary and mafic volcanic rocks which are stratigraphically equivalent to diff erentiated volcanic rocks that contain volcanogenic massive base metal sulphide deposits in a parallel arc to the east. Textures of the massive pyrrhotite ore suggest that it has undergone metamorphic recrystallization. Although the massive ore contains both monoclinic and hexagonal pyrrhotite, a study of a few samples from one orebody suggests that their distribution is stratigraphically controlled, with the monoclinic variety abundant only at the base. The distribution pattern of rare-earth elements in massive ore is similar to that of volcanogenic massive base metal sulphides in New Brunswick, and suggests that mixing of sea water with exhalative hydrothermal brines occurred during ore deposition. Tin is a common accessory element in many volcanogenic massive base metal sulphide deposits providing strong evidence that it, too, is transported and deposited by volcanic affiliated hydrothermal brines. Sedimentary rocks containing the massive orebodies are fine grained, thinly laminated, compositionally banded and of mixed chemical sedimentary-tuffaceous origin. They include finely recrystallized chert, carbonate-rich and pyritic varieties; and soft sediment deformation structures in these rocks suggest that dense sulphides deformed underlying, less dense chert prior to lithification. Close to ore the chert becomes massive and coarsely recrystallized, as does the carbonate, which is here strongly enriched in Fe and Mn. Apatite is present in pyritic, cherty and carbonate-rich beds and in the ore itself, in all of which it shows a similar pattern of rare-earth element distribution, suggesting that it is of marine sedimentary origin. These deposits have traditionally been considered as epigenetic replacements of favourable carbonate horizons by hydro thermal flu ids derived from later Devonian porphyritic intrusions. Some of these intrusions have associated tinbearing greisens. The above relationships suggest, alternatively, that, like massive base metal sulphides, the tin deposits were of original syn-sedimentary origin. Circulating hydrothermal brines generated during early Cambrian eugeosynclinal subsidence and tectonism rose through steep fault-fractures, there giving rise to the discordant orebodies, and were discharged on the sea floor, where the massive pyrrhotite lenses were precipitated with the associated cherts and carbonates. In some places, Devonian intrusions remobilized the earlier deposits, forming greisens and newepigenetic veins. Finally , the geologic selling of these deposits, in trough deposited sedimentary and mafic volcanic rocks, suggests another favourable environment for massive sulphide exploration which is quite different from the domal felsic volcanic environment so heavily favoured currently in North America

Vigorous agitation of suspensions of coking coals in water (or light mineral oils) will often result in catast rophic loss of caking properties. It is shown that this deterioration is not a consequence of oxidation of the coals (by dissolved oxygen), but that it can be qualitatively connected with internal "solid-state" reactions which appear to derive their activation energies from cavitation of the liquid.

"The naturally occurring carbonaceous material (CM) in gold bearing ores often exhibits strong-preg-robbing properties. It can adversely affect the process of gold recovery during the cyanidation due to its ability to adsorb, or preg-rob gold from the cyanide leach solution.Treatments of carbonaceous ores with chemical surfactants as blinding agents to limit preg-robbing have shown promising results but at the same time have demonstrated that, if not properly used, could have a strong detrimental effect on the gold recovery process. High dosages of surfactants used as passivating agents for carbonaceous matter could lead to unwanted partial passivation of the activated carbon added during the CIL process and severely impact the gold recovery. Optimal dosage for various surfactants would strongly depend on the ore mineralogy and the parameters of the pulp (temperature, pH, surface area and maturity of the carbonaceous material, etc).This paper describes an experimental study on the effectiveness of various commercially available blinding agents used to minimize the preg-robbing capacity of naturally occurring carbonaceous matter. The scope of the study was to: i) establish the optimum addition of blanking agent (surfactant) to minimize the preg-robbing capacity of the CM in the ore, and ii) establish maximum threshold amounts of blanking agents to be used before it negatively impacts the preg-robbing capacity of the activated carbon used in the CIL process. The study procedure involves standardized doping tests to evaluate the maximum preg-robbing capacity of treated CM, coupled with surface analysis with ToF-SIMS to monitor the presence and the degree of loading of these chemical surfactants on both the naturally occurring CM and the added activated carbon.INTRODUCTIONNaturally occurring carbonaceous material (CM) in gold bearing ores often exhibits strong-preg-robbing properties. The degree of preg-robbing related to the CM within an ore is defined by several parameters: total organic carbon (TOC) content, surface area, maturity (i.e., crystallinity) of the CM and the presence of various functional groups on the surface of the CM. Preg-robbing gold ores continue to be a significant challenge because of the lack of a single or universal solutions."
