In order to raise the utilization rate of phosphate resource of Al-Jalamid Mine in Saudi Arabia, a flotation experiment for its phosphate rock was carried out by using WF-01collector that have been produced by Wengfu Phosphate Mine. The results showed that WF-01 collector had extensive adaptability for Al-Jalamid phosphate rock, and the grade of phosphate concentrate could be up to 33% P2O5 mixing the upper, middle and lower beds rock as well as its 80% more recovery.

"The inertia cone crusher has lots of advantages, such as big crushing ratio, fine particle size, material layer crushing, good passing tramp iron performance and stable technical index, realized open crushing circuit and simplified crushing flowsheet. The crusher was input to China’s Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (BGRIMM) from Russia’s Mekhanobr-Tekhnika Research & Engineering Corporation at the beginning of the 1990s. This paper introduces that after years of absorption and innovation how Chinese researchers optimized and creatively designed about transmission mechanism, bracing structure, kinetic parameters, lubrication system, dust sealing system, damping system and hydraulic control system etc on the basis of keeping its advanced theory and unique structure, therefore the crusher’s stability was raised and the usage cost was reduced greatly. Accordingly the inertia cone crusher in China has been widely used in many fields, such as mineral resources and the recycling of metallurgical slag. The achievement in cooperation was fully affirmed by governments of Russia and China, and cooperation of science and technology in the mining and metallurgy industry between Russia and China is promoted greatly. INTRODUCTION From the early 1950s, the former Mekhanobr Institite(now Mechanobr-Tekhnika Research & Engineering Corporation) devoted itself to the research of inertial cone crusher and put it into industrial application in the late 1980s. Inertial cone crusher is like a maverick flower in the field of crusher. With its excellent performance and excellent application effect, it shocks the world and is destined to shine with a bright future. In the early 1990s, the chief leaders of the Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (BGRIMM), Academician Sun Chuan-yao and Professor Zheng Baochen, captured the extraordinary performance and strong vitality of inertial cone crusher with keen eyes. So the two big institutes started the cooperation to introduce inertial cone crusher to China. Kaolin clay is used as a filler and pigment in various applications such as paper, paint, rubber, plastics, adhesives, ink and ceramics etc. Major mineral content in crude kaolin clay is kaolinite along with some accessory minerals as quartz, hematite, mica, feldspar, anatase, rutile, illemnite etc. The Fe and Ti bearing minerals play very important role in determining quality of the kaolin, as these minerals impart yellow, pink or darker color to the white kaolin. Conventional beneficiation methods used in kaolin processing are de-gritting, classification and sodium dithionite bleaching, which improves the optical properties of kaolin, wherein reduction of color imparting constituents such as Fe2O3 and TiO2 is marginal. In the present study, these coloring impurities are separated using selective adsorption of water-soluble polymers. Degritted kaolin samples after passing through 45 micron sieve is used in the study for selective flocculation by polyacrylamide based polymers. The effect of pH, zeta potential, and polymer dose on the reduction of impurities is studied. Analytical tools such as XRF, XRD, SEM, and TEM techniques are utilized and results are discussed in detail.

"The paper supports applicability of satellite imagery at regional and local level for rapid quantitative assessment of natural environment in zones of activity of mining complex enterprises. Exacerbation of environmental problems during mineral mining and processing associated with their scale and geography of field distribution through the vast territory of our country requires constant monitoring of natural environment status, which necessitates engagement of space surveillance nowadays. It is proposed to use the monitoring of land cover and land use at regional and local level for the environmental assessment of a particular production or complex productions. You must establish the dependence of NDVI change trend with the magnitude of anthropogenic impact on the source or multiple sources of environmental pollution a particular area.. We present the results of studies of vegetation remote sensing methods in a number of territories placing mining enterprises. INTRODUCTION Ensuring a healthy environment is necessary both in untouched areas and disturbed. The condition of the developed territories should be monitored with particular attention, since the restoration of the disturbed territories requires great efforts and financial costs. More narrowly, the health of the environment (Zakharov V.M. and etc.,2001) means its quality ensuring the health of man and other species of living organisms, which includes two aspects (Zakharov V.M. and etc, 2000): - ensuring an environment conducive to human health as a biological species: - maintaining the health of the natural environment, i.e. its constituent species of living organisms and plants. The consequence is the disturbance of natural ecosystems, which determines the quality of the environment, favorable for human habitation and the state of health of the population in total determine the status of the territories where enterprises for the development of georesources are located and allow them to be ranked according to the degree of environmental danger. Without knowledge of the trajectory of ecosystem successions, it is impossible to offer adequate requirements for the technologies used to ensure the implementation of the preserved natural potential after the removal or reduction of man-made stress."

Annually it is formed more than 95 Mt of clinkers in iron and steel industry of Russia, including 79 Mt of clinkers in blast-furnace, steelmaking, foundry and ferroalloy productions. Complex development of clinkers will provide not only extraction of valuable components, but also preservation of ecosystems. Processing of solid slags is realized, as a rule, in a cold condition by mechanical methods only including stage-by-stage crushing of slag on devices, working on principles of compression and shift (jaw and roll crushers). However it doesn?t provide the complete extraction of metals from clinkers. The intensification of decomposition, in our opinion, can be provided under the use of the devices working on a principle of free kick. At such influence on a material, its destruction occurs on micro cracks, sides of cohesion that is there is a selective destruction of the components possessing various resistances to impact. Decomposition of a piece on the basis of free kick about a material or metal is realized in centrifugal-shock crushers and mills of research-and-production association ?Ural Center?. The share of the joints sharply lowering the efficiency of enrichment thus is minimal. The efficiency of application is proved by morph-metrical measurements with the help of system of image analysis ?SIAMS-600? and physical-mechanical tests of clinkers and their components (impact strength, micro hardness). The experience of application the devices of centrifugal-shock crushing for processing clinkers in blast-furnace, martin and converter productions of Open Society MMC, clinkers of rough-edged copper melt of Joint-Stock Company "Karabashmed" and aluminium clinkers of Joint-Stock Company « Samara plant of aluminium alloys » has allowed to confirm the efficiency of application these devices for selective decomposition of metallurgical clinkers and the opportunity of using clinkers as resource of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy.

Gold deposits in South Africa are invariably associated with uranium bearing minerals. Although it is low grade uranium by international standards, averaging around 0.3 kg U3O8 per ton of ore, recovery of uranium as a by-product improves the overall economics of gold extraction. Moreover, the current high uranium prices as well as increased demand due to renewed interest in nuclear power provide significant incentives for dedicated uranium production. An understanding of the uranium leaching response to changes in operating conditions is an important first step to-wards optimisation of uranium recoveries. In South African acid leaching plants, uranium dissolutions higher than 90% are difficult to achieve, and the chemical origin of this limit is not clear. To study leaching behaviour, an important consideration is the mineralogical characteristics of the ores. Typically, a diagnostic leaching approach can be followed. In this paper, a mineralogy-leachability explanation is presented to rationalise the difficulty in exceeding 90% dissolution from low grade uranium ores on the basis of a simple diagnostic leaching method. It was found that brannerite was the main reason for the existence of a dissolution limit in Witwatersrand ore and that chemical liberation was more effective to increase end dissolution compared to physical liberation. The findings from these investigations will form guidelines for developing economically viable flow sheets for improved uranium recovery, at least in a South African (Witwatersrand) context.

Single particle impact breakage experiments provide essential data to aid in understanding of rock fracture in comminution. Such experiments, conducted using devices such as the drop weight tester, split Hopkinson bars and more recently the rotary breakage tester, have been successfully used to characterize ore breakage properties in relation to measured fracture energies. The work presented in this paper highlights the techniques behind the calculation of impact breakage properties from each of these three devices. The breakage parameters that can be calculated from experimental data from each of these are to be described. Drop weight tests are used to calculate A and b hardness parameters using the standard JK breakage model. Split Hopkinson pressure bars are used to establish the ultimate compressive stress of particles through single impact breakage tests and the fraction of impact energy utilized to cause particle fracture. Low energy breakage tests using the rotary breakage tester are shown to be used in calculating particle breakage probability. Methods to calculate parameters related to particle breakage probabilities such as E0 and Ecrit are also discussed.

The coal bottom ash generated from coal-fired power plant accounted for approximately 5 mil-lion tons in Korea. Almost all of coal bottom ash was treated as reclamation of the landfill because of the content of unburned carbon. For recycling of coal bottom ash, effective removal of that is required. So, in this study, the removal of unburned carbon by flotation was studied with respect to adsorption ability in surface of a bubble in order to consider its application to recycle the coal bottom ash. The sample A, B and C were that the coal bottom ash contained 2.73%, 7.01% and 10.49% of the unburned carbon (UC) respectively. The column flotation was carried out for each time as the artificial injection of air at 10.0L/min flow rate and the reagents of 500g/ton kerosene and 80g/ton MIBC were used. The samples per water of 1.3 liters were from 0.5% to 4% (w/w.%). In the result of this study, the kinetic curves of unburned carbon adsorption from injected air bubbles were in-creased rapidly as equilibrium was approached; only 5 sec was needed from the sample A and B and 10 sec was from sample C. And the equilibrium isotherms of unburned carbon adsorbed by the infected air bubble from the sample B and C could appear the BET adsorption isotherm; MT = KMEEO/(EO-E)[EO+(K-1)E](K: adsorption affinity), but not the sample A that was not enough to express the adsorption curve.

The flotation circuit and the reagents of the all-sliming flotation about low grade and hard operation on zinc oxide ore are researched in the paper. The results indicated that there are many types of zinc minerals in this ore, and the composition is very complex. They include hemimorphite, smithsonite, hydrozincite and so on. The ore is seriously sliming. In light of the ore properties, three kinds of flowsheets have tested. They are gravity concentration (cleaning tables), flotation, combined process of gravity concentration and flotation. The test showed that the recovery of zinc is only 17.08% in the gravity separation. In combined process of gravity separation and flotation, the recovery of zinc concentrate is close to 70%. But the flow-sheet is complex and hard to control in the production. The floatation circuit is feasible. In the test, it pay attention to investigate the new combined reagent which is used in selective all?sliming flotation process. The effects of slime are eliminated by the multi-loop treatment of middling. In flotation, the final recovery of concentrate is 88.76%; the grade is 29.50%. The recovery of physical ore is 93%; and the recovery of -10mm fraction is more than 65%.

Considering the main idea of the paper, namely that the interaction energy of reagents serves as a criterion used for their selection, as well as due to their insufficient study, the authors have therefore considered studying the aspects of computer modelling and molecular dynamics of largely used collectors for the flotation of nonferrous and precious metal ores. Three-dimensional molecular models for sulphydric reagents have been created, studying as well the distribution of the partial charges on their atoms. It has been shown that the value of the partial charge on the phosphorus atom in diethyldithiophosphinate and diethylmonothiophosphinate is high positive. The value of the partial charge of the sulphur atom is negative, strengthening its bond with the metal cations from the mineral surface. The molecular orbitals for the sulphydric reagents have been created determining as well the energy of their level. The computer modelling key parameters have therefore been defined. The new reagents have been tested for gold, copper and rhenium ore flotation. Gold recovery has increased with 4.2 - 4.7 %, copper recovery with 3.3 % and rhenium recovery with 15.5 %. A number of new flotation reagents have been recommended, such as: diethyldithiophosphate, (C2H5)2NCH2CH2OC(S)SNa, (C4H9NH)2P (S)SNa and also (C2H5)2P(S)ONa and (C2H5)2 P(O)S Na. The present paper deals with the development of flotation based process for enrichment of a lead-zinc sulphide ore from Ganesh-Himal region of Nepal. Detailed characterisation and flotation studies were carried out under varying process conditions. The sample assayed 2.47% Pb with 13.6% Zn. The ore was predominantly made up of spahlerite and pyrite in association with subordinate amounts of galena, minor amounts of pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite. Dolomite was the main gangue. The modal analysis showed the probability of fair liberation of sulphides from gangues around 210 microns but the locking of galena with sphalerite and other sulphides continued to finer sizes. Under the optimum process conditions the rougher lead and zinc recoveries were 96.3% and 90% respectively. Multistage cleanings of rougher products proved helpful in improving the concentrate grade, meeting the required specification. Based on the studies undertake a process flow-sheet for the concentration of the ore to individual lead and zinc concentrates was developed.

This paper describes the investigative studies carried out at Vale´s Center of Mineral Development (CDM) for a nickel sulfide deposit aiming to develop an adequate flotation flowsheet. The CDM facilities comprises of very well equipped laboratories to develop hydrometallurgical, comminution, flotation, physical separation processes, besides chemical and mineralogical laboratories, that are required to accomplish pre-feasibility studies, new process routes developments and, eventually, brownfield projects. Close association of the flotation group with the geometallurgy and the mineralogy teams play a key role during greenfield project development. Most of the information required by process engineers responsible for the flowsheet development can be provided by the mineralogy team and its mineralogical laboratory at CDM. During the flowsheet development of this nickel sulfide deposit, two ore types were identified as the most abundant in the deposit, named biotite-chlorite hydrothermalite (HID) and magnetite hydrothermalite (MAG HID). Six samples were selected for the investigative studies based on this initial information. Nickel grade varied from 0.39% to 1.95%. The main nickel-bearing minerals were millerite and pentlandite whereas the main non-sulphide gangue minerals were quartz, plagioclase, biotite, chlorite, actinolite, and/or magnetite. Electron microprobe (EMP) identified the presence of nickel in solid solution in gangue minerals such as biotite, chlorite, and actinolite. Nickel deportment in silicates varied from 3% to almost 40%. Magnesium was distributed in biotite and chlorite, except in sample MAG HID, in which talc was responsible for almost 50% of the Mg content. Liberation studies indicated that the optimum feed grind size was around 150µm and that pyrite occurred highly associated to the nickel sulfides. The flotation tests were planned based on the information provided by the mineralogical data. Rougher flotation tests indicated that the optimum P80 of the primary grind was 212µm for the HID type and 150µm for the MAG HID. From the reagents tested, amyl xanthate proved to be the most efficient in the recovery of the sulfides. In the MAG HID sample talc was well depressed by dosing 600g/t of CMC. Nickel recoveries in the rougher stage were lower than 90% due to the nickel distributed in silicates. However, sulfur recovery was around 95%, indicating high recovery of the total sulfides. Open circuit and locked cycle tests were conducted to evaluate the effect of the regrind size in the nickel grade and recovery (P80 of 44µm and 20µm). Nickel recovery decreased from 70% to 65% when finer regrind size was tested. Although nickel recovery decreased by 5%, the finer regrind size lead to a higher Ni grade (from 11% to 23%Ni) and lower fluorine grade (from 1138ppm to 700ppm) in the concentrate. "To recover tetrahedrite-tennantite series minerals from porphyry copper-pyrite ores by the froth flotation method, further research on thiol collectors is launched to promote the utilization efficiency of copper ores. In the present paper the adsorption mechanism of the collectors on tennantite surface has been investigated by computational modeling and FTIR-spectroscopic analysis, which have revealed that the decrease in prognosis of collector activity evaluation (PCAE) for tennantite is in the following order: BX (-0.34318), AEROPHINE 3418A (- 0.61756), AERO 5100 (-14.18857). The lower PCAE the stronger the ability of the collector to interact with the mineral surface of tennantite and form the stable complex. More kinetic reliable conditions to form suitable adsorption layer and rupture of the liquid interlayer with AERO 5100 have been observed by FTIR spectra due to decrease of the intensity and stretching and bending vibrations of water (less than 20 and 65%, respectively). In order to verify the feasibility of AERO 5100 as a collector the industrial flotation tests have been conducted. Flotation performance has improved significantly with the stadially grinding and preflotation of tennantite in intercycle copper flotation that allows to avoid desliming of the fragile mineral and minimize loss of Cu and As in tailings. The recovery of copper in copper concentrate increases by 3.9% with the grade maintained.INTRODUCTIONCopper is one of the first metals extracted and the main material of choice for different high-technology applications today. Currently 80% of the world's copper comes from copper sulfide ores. However, due to the depletion of high-grade copper ores in the world and constantly growing demand for copper, the need to develop processes and technologies to treat copper resources from additional sources such as mine tailings, low grade deposits, industrial wastes and deposits with high impurity levels such as As and Sb will continue to increase (Miller and Craig, 1983). The beneficiation processes of copper-pyrite ores consisting of tennantite-tetrahedrite series minerals are generally complex. Tetrahedrite-tennantite minerals occur as fine anhedral grains intermixed with grains of galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrite and other sulfides (Saharova, 1966). The mineralized zones of Southern Urals, Russia deposits correspond with these ore types but tennantite-tetrahedrite series are more abundant in ores at the Uzelginskoye deposit, some samples of which contain 70% of copper in tennantite form (Seravkin et al., 1994). This deposit differs from other similar copper-pyrite ores by thin mutual ""germinating"" minerals and higher content of arsenic (up to 0.8-1 %) which create additional considerable problems in enrichment (Solozhenkin et al., 2016)."

Extensive exploration for uranium metal by the Department of Atomic Energy in India led to the discovery of new carbonate host rock uranium deposits Tummalapalle and Gogi, which are located in southern part of India. Alkaline leaching at elevated temperature and pressure using autoclave is the central unit process in the overall strategy for extraction of uranium from these new ore deposits. Autoclave leaching is affected largely by intrinsic nature of the ore and by the process variables and the equipment settings. In order to understand such a complex process and also to be able to predict the process performance under randomly (ore grade, uranium mineralogy, gangue mineralogy etc.) and consciously perturbed variable settings (partial pressure of oxygen, temperature, concentration of leachant, stirring speed and time), sound and robust mathematical models are needed with analytical and/or numerical solutions. Present investigation attempts to develop a variant of kinetic correlation based on shrinking core model for batch alkaline leaching process in an autoclave. The leaching model incorporates particle size distribution according to popular Gates-Gaudin-Schuhmann equation, rather than assuming a single mean size for all the particles participating in the leaching reaction. Kinetic experimental data generated in autoclave leaching of Gogi uranium ore was used to evaluate various constants of the model developed. The ore sample used for experiments assayed 0.21 per cent U3O8. The partial pressure of oxygen was varied between 0.15 to 6.5 atm, temperature from 343 K to 438 K, concentration of sodium carbonate leachant in the range 0.47 g mol/L to 0.94 g mol/L, and the stirring speed from 573 rev/min to 900 rev/min in the experiments. The goodness of fit of the leaching process model is found to be >0.95. Morphological studies carried out on leached and unleached particulate matter using Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X ray analyses are included in the present study.

Since Schönert, 1980 a multiplicity of scientists have dedicated themselves intensively to the scientific investigation of wet grinding in agitated media mills. The achieved research results led to a clearly improved understanding of the comminution mechanism in wet operated agitated media mills and in consequence also to clearly more efficient machines. In contrast to this the standard of knowledge on dry grinding in agitated media mills is still very small. The practical experience from numerous plants shows however that the transferability of knowledge from wet grinding to the dry grinding regarding transport phenomena and comminution behaviour, influence of the operating parameters and also wear is very limited. In the industrial application above all the continuous mode of operation is preferred. The main problem which has to be solved in agitated media mills is minor the comminution itself, than rather the question of the trouble free material supply and material extraction as well as the cooling of the mill. The agitated media mill MaxxMill® offers an innovative concept to overcome the feeding and extraction problem with its rotating grinding chamber, the eccentrically mounted agitators as well as the eccentric flow deflector with integrated material supply. Because of the pneumatic extraction of the ground materi-al cooling of the milling chamber is not necessary. On a MaxxMill ® laboratory mill with a 5 litre grinding chamber volume extensive parameter studies were carried out to study the influence of operating parameters on the continuous dry grinding of quartz sand. The test were performed in a continuous single pass operation without classification of the final product. Apart from the influence of the throughput rate on fineness above all the influence of the agitator and grinding chamber speed as well as the grinding media size was examined.

The objective of the paper is to develop a material balance calculation procedure for a production unit involving two plants separated by a pipeline. The case study is taken from the oil sands industry. The raw sands are first mixed with water in a conditioning plant, then transported through a pipeline to an oil extraction plant. The combination of pipeline dimensions and nominal throughput creates a significant variable time lag between the two plants. As usual, mass balance calculations required for the evaluation of plant performance indicators, such as bitumen recovery, are inaccurate due to measurement errors. In addition, in the present case study, the time lag of the pipe creates an additional source of uncertainty, which may lead to misinterpretations and wrong decisions. Raw data are usually reconciled through steady-state mass balancing, to correct for measurement errors. However, because of the significant pipeline dynamic lag, standard steady-state daily mass balance may fail at giving an appropriate picture of the operations. The proposed solution to the data reconciliation problem includes the use of a pipeline plug-flow model in the mass balance calculation. To fulfil the industrial constraint that current data reconciliation must not modify past reconciled values, while still satisfying dynamic constraints, a daily one-step method, i.e. a unitary filter-ing horizon, is recommended. The method is illustrated with simulation data, and the results com-pared to those of standard data reconciliation methods.

Treatment of mineral surfaces with appropriate surfactants plays an important role in mineral processing operations such as flotation, flocculation and dewatering. Recently biosurfactants, in particular, have received a considerable amount of attention because of their unique surface active properties and biodegradability. In this work we examined the performance of biosurfactants, sugar based alkyl glycosides and sophorolipid esters as reagents to control the hydrophobicity of minerals with selectivity of adsorption on mineral surfaces for flotation applications. It was discovered that n-dodecyl-ß-D-maltoside adsorbs on alumina, titania and hematite but, interestingly, not on silica. The hydrophobicity obtained is governed both by the surface coverage as well as the nanostructure of the adsorbed layer in terms of orientation of the adsorbed species. Surprisingly, even though the above surfactants are non-ionic, their adsorption was pH-dependent. We have correlated this pH dependence to the type of species on the mineral surface. Also it is shown that mixing of these surfactants with traditional ones can help reduce the carbon footprint due to synergy between the reagents and help selectivity due to antagonism. The experimental results were analyzed to get information on optimal pH and dosage conditions, for mineral surface modification. The study provides guidance for mineral treatments using biosurfactants and the potential use of these next generation reagents in mineral processing.
