El distrito Minero de Yanacocha está conformado por 10 depósitos epitermales de oro de alta sulfuración emplazados a lo largo del corredor estructural NE-SW. Quecher Main es uno de estos depósitos que fue descubierto y desarrollado en los últimos años como resultado de un nuevo enfoque en los trabajos de exploración. El descubrimiento y exploración del depósito se realizó entre 1998 - 2002, después de una evaluación económica cuyo resultado fue negativo el depósito fue descartado. En el 2013 el proyecto fue re-evaluado con el objetivo de encontrar zonas mineralizadas de oro en óxidos cerca de superficie; posteriores trabajos de mapeo, geoquímica superficial, y perforación de taladros diamantinos perpendiculares al corredor estructural NE-SW encontraron zonas con alta ley de oro (Au > 1g/t) en profundidad en óxidos.

El presente texto describe el mineral "revoderita" que está compuesto de plomo, arsénico y azufre y se encuentra en Cerro de Pasco. Dicho mineral es "amorfo"a los rayos X y es comparado con otro mineral amorfo proveniente de Quiruvilca, donde sus propiedades son tan similares a aquellas de los vidrios sintéticos.

La investigación se desarrolla en el yacimiento La Arena, pertenece al distrito de Huamachuco, provincia de Sánchez Carrión, región La Libertad. Geográficamente se emplaza en la vertiente oriental de la cordillera Occidental de los Andes Centrales, en la margen izquierda del río Yamobamba y a 18 km al suroeste de la ciudad de Huamachuco, en la parte sur de la hoja de Cajabamba (16g) de la Carta Nacional.

El presente trabajo muestra las mejoras realizadas en nuestras operaciones mineras, respecto a disminuir los accidentes que se han venido presentando en diversas minas a nivel nacional, relacionadas al uso de los calibradores para controlar el espesor del shotcrete (concreto lanzado), donde el personal se expone a la línea de fuego cuando el concreto aún se encuentra en proceso de fraguado para alcanzar las resistencias iniciales de sostenimiento. Ante esta problemática, se ha diseñado un mecanismo automatizado que se encuentra adaptado al equipo robot lanzador de concreto, el cual elimina la exposición del personal durante este proceso y ademas asegura la calidad del espesor de shotcrete aplicado en las labores mineras.

Dada la importancia del equilibrio entre minería y la protección del medio ambiente, es necesario desarrollar una política ambiental a través de una técnica adecuada que evalué técnica-económicamente las soluciones posibles considere no solo los factores cuantificables, sino los parámetros intangibles, de difícil cuantificación, sobre los factores humano, sociocultruales, ecológicos y culturales. En esta perspectiva, el presente trabajo describe los nuevos métodos de control ambiental, donde no se legisle de modo insensato sobre los requisitos ambientales en la industria minera, y desarrolle una actitud proactiva que incluya un planeamiento y asesoría de especialistas experimentados.

El origen del sostenimiento con pernos para roca se remonta al inicio de la década del 70, donde el uso inicial fue a través de varillas "L"de diámetro de ranura a un extremo introducido a una cuña. El requisito para el desempeño del perno fue contar con un hueco de perforación a la medida y una roca competente para este fin. Posteirormente se realizaron otras pruebas para determinar la capacidad de anclaje de la roca encajonante como de las vetas de l/8" de diámetro con "mariposas" a un extremo como medio de anclamiento. En este sentido, el texto señala que el uso de tubos para el yacimiento de Quiruvilca es favorable, en comparación a los pernos, puesto que mejora el rendimiento y seguridad de la mina, aunque su adquisición sea costosa. Mientras que desde la perspectiva de la mecánica de rocas, el método de reforzamiento es el más efectivo ya que actúa contra la totalidad de la superficie del hueco.

Dado que el Perú es un país propicio para la exploración de yacimientos mineros, es necesario plantear investigaciones geológicas para encontrar la génesis de estas zonas mineras. En este sentido, se realiza investigaciones de tipo isotopos a efectuarse en el futuro y asi determinar el origen de la variedad de los minerales metálicos en dichos áreas. Para ello, se describe las medidas de cada isotopo a partir de un espectómetro de masa aplicado en laboratorios extranjeros, donde se evalúa los diferentes tipos de isotopos como el azufre, carbono, oxígeno, estroncio, plomo e hidrógeno y se evalúan lo efectos y reacciones de los mismos.

El presente texto describe algunos aspectos de la inversión extranjera en tres períodos: fines del siglo XIX, la primera mitad del siglo XX y segunda mitad del siglo XX. Dentro de lo quince casos analizados se halló que 5 empresas son iguales: Northern, Southem, Santander, Santa Luisa y Madrigal; 4 empresas se han "peruanizado" total o parcialmente: Caylloma, Ticapampa (Alianza), Lampa (Minsur) y Ruaron, 3 empresas se han agotado aparentemente: Santo Domingo, Salinas y Minas Ragra, 1 yacimiento revertió al Estado y fue desarrollado por Minero Perú: Cerro Verde; y 2 empresas fueron expropiadas y estatizadas: Cerro de Pasco Corporation y Marcona. En todos los casos no hubo descubrimiento del yacimiento por el inversionista, quien compró las concesiones y denuncios, con excepción de Marcona que estuvo explorado y desarrollado y fue contratado para su explotación.

The Yanacocha Operation is an open pit gold mining operation located in mountainous terrain in Northern Perú. Given constraints imposed by the topography and the permitted boundaries, the efficient use of space is a priority for the Operation. Gold extraction from some ore types involves leaching, and the construction of heap leach facilities (HLF). The construction of HLF over a waste rock facility (WRF) is an example of a design driven by the need to use space efficiently. Liner grades that promote controlled drainage of leach solution, and drainage infrastructure are essential in HLF design. With this in mind, accounting for settlements in the waste rock and the native soils that form the WRF foundation were particularly important for this application. The facility continues to function in accordance with the design. This concept permitted important cost savings, and provided useful HLF capacity for the Yanacocha Operation.

The paper point out the method to meet the formal requirements for carrying out occupational risk assessment in companies imposed by various regulations and practical needs of modern safety management in company. The method presented allows also utilizing the assessment of economic effects of work accidents to assess the economic value of the risk resulting from the possibility of harm to health occurring to mine staff. A risk assessment example included in the paper and the calculations made permit positive assessment of the usability of the event-tree method for assessing the risk under conditions of limited availability of statistical information on the frequency of harm occurring. The method presented has also this advantage that it is not based on accident ratios that for many reasons do not always conform to reality and always show past safety level, not anticipating accidents but only recording them.

The paper describes the thiosulfate process for gold leaching like the best non-polluting alternative to cyanide. Thiosulfate is a non-toxic lixiviant and has the ability to complex gold and silver. Copper bearing ores are not harmful for the process and does not suffer the preg-robbing phenomenon like in the case of cyanide. Nevertheless, the process is not fully developed, basically because of the poor understanding of the solution chemistry. Upon thermodynamic considerations and experimental evaluations it was found that the system is unstable; thiosulfate oxidation is unavoidable and ammonia is lost by evaporation. Measures to reduce thiosulfate oxidation include the adequate balance of ammonia and thiosulfate concentrations, adequate pH, additions of sulfite and additions of complexing agents like glycine.

In other words, the conflicting propositions between the western beliefs that set the foundation of the sustainability concept and the eastern beliefs that aims to have sustainability as an end result. The incorporation of “culture” aims to find a balance, which unites these opposite perspectives to result in a more harmonious solution for society.

In the current difficult financial markets, only the best projects will advance to the next phases of development due to limited funding. Projects are consistently being evaluated by their initial Capital Expenditure (CapEx), Net Present Value (NPV), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Optimizing these parameters is the best way to gain market interest. Global Resource Engineering LTD (GRE) completed an optimization study for a silver-lead-zinc project in Peru. In this sense, the objective of the study was to minimize the project initial Capital Expenditure while maximizing the Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return. GRE accomplished this goal by completing a series of tradeoff studies for the project and combining them through the use of a multi-scenario deterministic model to find the most economic scenario.

At the present time, the mineral resources in the majority of underground mines are assessed and reported within a deterministic scenario. Irrespective of the techniques utilized for the estimation, the uncertainty in the reporting of resources is limited to their classification in categories such as Measured, Indicated and Inferred, according to a qualitative appreciation that depends on the abundance and quality of geologic information and sampling. Tonnages and grades reported within each category are treated as of fixed or variable precision depending on their classification; nevertheless, this degree of precision is not quantified, which makes it difficult for mine planning and can seriously affect the decisions that are taken on the resources of a deposit. The uncertainty in the resources comes from the lack of adequate geological information and grades, but this lack of information is very difficult to improve or supplement since the information-versus-cost curve increases exponentially
