The spatial data collaboration will provide a single window view of the entire organization with respect to its operations, management, sales, customers and competitors on a spatial reference across various regions in the World. Sossego was the first Vale SAG mill operation to process copper-gold ore. It is located in Para state, south east of Amazon region in Brazil. The comminution circuit was designed to treat 41 000 metric tons per day comprising primary crushing, one 11.6 m SAG mill operating in closed configuration with cone crushers, followed by two 6.7 ball mills. In the first three years of continuous operation Vale investigated alternatives for obtained improved performance of the circuit by investigating operating conditions, mainly focusing on SAG mill. A number of actions were then implemented, which resulted in significant increase in overall production. Vale then decided to further assess the performance of the comminution circuit as a function of ore characteristics. A comprehensive ore characterization program was then conducted, together with the calibration of mathematical models on the basis of surveys carried out at the industrial circuit. The simulator was then used to predict the production level associated to each ore type, as well as to establish the optimized circuit configuration and tailored operating conditions. The ongoing validation program is planned to consolidate the selected strategy, as well as showing the benefits in adopting such indices in mine planning, as opposed to rather simplistic approaches. This paper describes in detail the main aspects of optimizing the industrial circuit performance, as well as the successful method for predicting the production as a function of ore characteristics.

"Indian coal industry is the world's third largest in terms of production and fourth largest in terms of proven coal resources. Indian coal deposits are generally of high ash content varying from 24 to 50%. The coking coal reserves of India constitute about 12% of the total coal inventory, and the coals are washed in washeries, before being used for metallurgical purposes. The processes used for washing coking coal is Jigs, Heavy medium bath and Cyclones for the sizes upto 0.5mm, while the coal fines are washed in spirals and conventional flotation cells. Extensive studies were carried out for understanding the performance of an operating conventional flotation plant. The performance studies revealed that appreciable quantity of clean coal is being lost in the tailings due to varied reasons and the required quantity and quality was not achieved. In this study, laboratory Flotation experiments were carried out to examine the cleaning characteristics of the said tailing and to determine the effective process parameters for recovery of clean coal at desired ash level ( 16-17%). Response Surface Methodology was applied to investigate the operating conditions of the Froth Flotation for modeling and optimization. Primary study reflects that there is a possibility to recover clean coal at 16-17% ash level with a yield of about 60-70% from that Flotation tailing of feed ash about 28%.INTRODUCTIONMost of the Indian coking coals are difficult in cleaning characteristics and high ash content due to its drift origin and its age of formation for more than 225 million years. Indian coking coal reserve is limited about 12% of total coal reserve. The minerals are homogeneously mixed with the coal macerals. The open cast mining practice and mechanized mining methods are being adopted to meet the increasing demands of coals resulting in generation of more coal fines and subsequently the quality is deteriorated. Indian good quality coking coal reserves of higher seams are fast depleting and hence coking coals of difficult cleaning characteristics of lower seams (LVC) are being now explored. Due to increased mechanization of coal mines to cope up the increased demand and followed by size reduction of lower seam coals in search of better liberation , the coal fines are increasing by leaps and bounds. The processes used for washing coking coal is Jigs, Heavy medium bath and Cyclones for the sizes upto 0.5mm, while the coal fines are washed in spirals and conventional flotation cells."

The flocculation and dewatering behaviour of kaolinite (non swelling) and smectite (swelling) clay dispersions has been investigated using hydrolysable metal ions Mn(II) and Ca(II) and anionic polyacrylamide-acrylate copolymer (PAM) at pH 7.5 and 10.5. A pH-dependent, specific metal ion adsorption behaviour, accompanied by a marked reduction in particle zeta potential and slurry shear yield stress, was observed to have a profound influence on the colloid stability of both types of clays. Due to the differences in the cation exchange capacity, the smectite clay dispersion required a higher amount of metal ions than kaolinite dispersion to produce similar effects. The adsorption density of the anionic PAM at the negatively charged clay particle surfaces correlated well with metal ion hydrolysis and adsorption behaviour, all of which had a strong effect on slurry settling rate and extent of consolidation. At pH 7.5 where Mn(II) ions hydrolyse, metal ion and flocculant adsorption densities were both greater in the presence of Mn(II) than Ca(II) ions. At pH 10.5, however, where Ca(II) ions begins to hydrolyse, higher adsorption densities were observed for Ca(II) ions in comparison with Mn(II) ions, as the latter hydrolysed completely and precipitated. The metal ion mediated flocculant adsorption led to improved hydrogen bond driven particle bridging and facilitated charge neutralisation flocculation mechanisms which significantly enhanced the dewaterability of both clay dispersions.

The possibility of the intensification of the gravity processing of complex iron-manganese ore, which contains the finely dispersed inclusions of gold and platinum is shown. Clear mineral fractions of precious metals were sorted out of the different types of ores (quartz-braunite and carbonate- magnetite ore, ferruginous quartzite, carbon-containing shale, breccia-limestone and dolomite breccia). Composition and structures of precious-metals particles was detailed. The industrial content of platinum and gold was found. Precious-metals mineralization is character for all types of ores. High content of platinum is indicated in the carbonate-magnetite (up to 11.3 mg/kg) and quartz –braunite (up to 10 mg/kg) types of ore. Gold is presented in the ferruginous quartzite (up to 1.29 mg/kg) according to the data of the reduced mineralogical analysis. The composition of native platinum depends on the type of the ores: 1) quartz-braunite type contains isoferroplatinum (Pt3Fe) with Cu, Rh, Ir, Ru; 2) carbonate-magnetite type contains isoferroplatinum with Cu, Sn, Ni, Rh, Ir, Os; 3) pyritic-carbon ore contains isoferroplatinum with Sn, Ni; 4) ferruginous quartzite contains isoferroplatinum without admixtures. The ultrasonic treatment of mineral aggregates (P = 41.5 Watt, I = 15 W/cm2) made possible the liberation of fine particles of precious metals. Smooth-shaped or crystalline mineral aggregates are effectively liberated after acoustic treatment. Their surface is freed from impurities. The aggregates with the complex form and structure, which consist of the numerous plates and the grains, are not effectively liberated from impurities. It is shown that the ultrasonic treatment of aggregates with the fine inclusions of precious metals contributes to the liberation of the particles of platinum and gold and intensification of the gravity processing of refractory ore. This approach contributes the increase of the raw-material base of precious metals.

In the article results of experiments over jaws? linings in jaw crushers with different shaping of working surface were presented. Following sets of jaws were under investigation: immobile plain jaw and moving jaw with grooving surface. Grooving jaws have groves with circular, triangular and trapezoid cross section. In order to evaluate efficiency of comminution both the grain composition of product and the content of irregular grains were determined, as well as the size of crushing forces and process efficiency were measured. For the combination: plain jaw with grooved one, a good results were obtained as regards the grain composition of product and the content of irregular grains. Crushing forces were higher at crushing with mixed types of jaws (the one plain, the second grooved), in comparison to crushing with using both grooved jaws. Efficiency of the process was definitely higher for mixed jaws.

"Agromining aims at recovering metals from different secondary resources with hyperaccumulating plants. These natural plants can selectively concentrate metals at very high level and can be transformed to produce commercial compounds. The classical strategy to recover metals from hyperaccumulator plants is based on hydrometallurgy. It consists of: i) burning the plant to obtain ash, which is a very rich bio-ore without organic matter, ii) transferring the target element(s) into aqueous solution by acid leaching and iii) purifying the leach liquor to obtain the target element(s) in the desired form. This method has enabled us to obtain nickel salts, nickel oxide, zinc and cadmium from different plants. However, it is not possible to apply this approach to recover rare earth elements (REEs) from the fern D. dichotoma, growing on mine tailings in South China. Actually, this plant is very rich in silicon: plant burning gives an amorphous ash, very stable despite severe leaching conditions. Therefore, the strategy has been changed and processes are currently developed to extract REEs by direct leaching of the biomass, without burning the plant. Several conditions (i.e. leaching solutions) have been investigated, showing that a good extraction yield was obtained with HNO3 0.5 N (around 84%). This yield was increased to 99% by adding a complexing resin into the leaching solution. After two-steps of elution, results have shown that is possible to recover 75% of the REEs at 81% purity.INTRODUCTION The demand of rare earth elements (REEs) (including 15 lanthanides, yttrium and scandium) has been growing sharply over the past years, because of their industrial applications. REEs are essential elements for emerging technologies, and are used for example in permanent magnets, lamp phosphors or rechargeable batteries. China is the main producer, and the market supply became tense in 2010 when this country decided to limit exports of these elements. Exploitable mineral resources, as well as REE separation capacity are concentrated in a few countries (e.g. USA, Australia, Malaysia, France), which increases the supply risk. Therefore, these elements are considered as critical raw materials (CRM) for many countries and especially for EU (Fortier and Gambogi, 2017)."

Specially, it?s critical important for a successful intelligent system to extract the minerals? feature accurately and sufficiently. Reflection index, as the crucial feature of mineral, is calculated by the theoretical calculating model of index based on the principle of imaging color models. In gray histogram of minerals? micrograph, the peaks? positions represent the information about mineral categories and contents. The relationships of different minerals? peak-positions in curve of gray histogram were got by using the peak-find model of gray histogram and calculating model of reflection index. These two models which can be regard as the method of feature extraction for minerals? photomicrograph also lay a good foundation for the artificial intelligent system of recognition and processing in sinter ore.

This paper describes a methodology used to develop a numerical model for the study of particulate suspension rheology. Initially, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models of different rheometer geometries were tested with both a Newtonian fluid (water), and a non-Newtonian Herschel-Bulkley slurry. Rheograms were reproduced from these models and compared to experimental values. Once a single-phase model had been validated, a coupled model combining CFD and the Discrete Element Method (DEM) was created. Two open source software packages were chosen. CFD is implemented using Open FOAM®, and DEM using LIGGGHTS. These two different codes were coupled via another program called CFDEM. This coupled model is currently capable of modeling spherical particles in a suspending liquid. DLVO forces have been included in some models to account for inter-particle forces due to the surface charge on the particles. The coupled model is currently being validated. Based on the differences in hardness and density of diaspore and aluminosilicate minerals which usually exist in Chinese diasporic bauxite, It is analysed that bauxite of this kind is difficult to be separated effectively by classification and normal gravity separation, and cyclonic centrifugal field was thus proposed to be carried out, in which classification can take place according to the size difference resulted from selective grinding, what?s more, the separation function according to density difference is expected to take effect at the same time, and then cyclonic separation tests for diasporic bauxite of A/S 4.39 and grinding 61.90% -0.074mm were carried out tentatively. The results showed that the accretion of feed pressure can offer strong enough centrifugal force for cyclonic separation with result that separation function according to density difference is effectively intensified, by the increasing of this parameter, underflow and overflow of A/S 7.64 and 2.18 can be processed at the same time, and the recovery of Al2O3 in underflow is 71.78%; judging by the flow ratio, the spatial locality envelope of zero vertical velocity do constringe to the vertical axis by the enlarging of diameter ratio of apex to vortex, overflow and underflow of A/S 2.08 and 6.5~7.0 can be processed by controlling this structural parameter, which is possible to offer a technological method for low-grade bauxite to de-sliming beforehand.

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) constitute a majorpart of electrical and electronic equipment containing valuable metals such as Cu, Ni, Au, Ag, Pd, Fe, Sn, Pb, etc. The concentration of base and precious metals in PCBs is observed to be several times more than those in their respective ores. Therefore, the recycling of PCBs is necessary to recover the valuable materials. However, the ultrafine particles pose a big challenge. Removal of them is suggested prior to processing by flotation. Froth flotation is observed to be a promising technique for rejecting the plastics from the comminution product. In the present work, enrichment of ground 1.0 mm PCB powder was investigated through flotation route by varying the operating variables such as frother dosage, pulp density, air flow rate and rotational speed of the impeller. The liberation studies indicate that excellent liberation of metal values is achieved from the non-metallic constituents at -1.0 mm size and below. The particulate system is quite rich in metal value with about 23% total metal content. The non-metallic constituents such as plastics are observed to possess strong hydrophobicity while the metal particles in the pulverized mass are hydrophilic in nature. Froth flotation kinetics is studied in depth with a view to facilitate high rejection of plastics and identify optimum operating conditions for the same. A number of experiments are performed to establish the influence of the operating variables on flotation performance. The conditions for achieving higher yield of the metal-rich fraction with respect to a specified grade are discussed in the light of the experimental results. It is found that the requirement of reagents is negligible which could be a very important factor from the commercial stand point. Single-stage flotation increases the metal content from 23% to over 32% with a mass yield of around 75% and over 90% recovery of metal values. 32% of the materials in the feed could be effectively rejected in the float fraction losing less than 4% metal values. The dependence of kinetics on the process variables is also discussed. It was concluded that a high rotor speed helps in efficiently rejecting the plastics. Frother should be added to help stabilize the froth and enhance the kinetics. A moderate air flow is required while pulp density must be kept low for efficient pre-concentration. It is established that the entire -1.0 mm comminution product could be treated by flotation for generating a pre-concentrate. An extra-refractory gold ore in China belongs to Carlin Type Gold Ore which is not only submicroscopic but also rich in arsenic and organic carbon. They have been proved that its floatability is not good enough and the gold in the ore could not be leached almost if it was not pretreated. The tests for the ore were carried out in accordance with flotation-concentrate preoxidation-cyanidation(or CIL) processes in order to exploit the mine. Two new depressants were discovered in the flotation tests and improved concentrate grades from about 20g/t to 32~50g/t. The methods of the concentrate preoxidation tests were alkaline atmospheric oxidation, acidic atmospheric oxidation, acidic pressure oxidation, roasting oxidation?biooxidation. The cyanidation tests after the concentrate preoxidation have proved the gold extraction of the pressure oxidation to be the highest(92.5%) and that of roasting secondary(89.3%). After fuller techno-economic comparison, it is suggested that the flotation-pressure oxidation or roasting-CIL process should be the most optimal for treating the ore. The gold recoveries of the ore were 83% for the pressure oxidation and 80% for the roasting respectively.

"The diffusion rate of cupric ions and limiting current density are important factors that determine the rate of copper mass transport in electrolytes proximal to the electrodes used in electrorefining. As a result, diffusion can critically affect both the rate and morphology of cathodic copper deposition thus it is crucial that it be optimized to improve production. The diffusion coefficient of cupric ion (DCu(II)) in copper electrolytes has been previously researched but the values detailed in the literature show significant variations and moreover arsenic - a common impurity - is generally excluded. Furthermore, in previous studies the models have only been validated with model solutions rather than real industrial electrolytes. In this study, the limiting current density and diffusion coefficient of cupric ion were defined for synthetic electrolytes containing copper (40–60 g/dm3), nickel (0–20 g/dm3), sulfuric acid (130–220 g/dm3) and arsenic (0–45 g/dm3). The cathodic limiting current densities were measured at three temperatures (50, 60, 70 °C) with linear sweep voltammetry using the rotating disc electrode (RDE) as the cathode. By utilizing the limiting current density, models for the DCu(II) were constructed using Levich equation. The validity of the DCu(II) model for technical use was confirmed through their application to industrial electrorefining electrolytes with known element concentrations. Consequently, this study provides improved models for limiting current density and diffusion coefficient of cupric ion that can be utilized for industrial process optimization.INTRODUCTION For an efficient copper electrolysis process, the mass transport of copper ions has to be effective. The main mass transport types of copper ions in copper electrorefining are diffusion and convection while the effect of migration is negligible. In order to maintain good mass transport, it is beneficial to keep both diffusion and convection high to maximize the limiting current density (jlim) (Bard and Faulkner, 2001). jlim is the highest current density that can flow in the cell, thus by maximizing jlim the deposition time can be minimized and the good quality of cathodic copper can be ensured. Thus, it is important to research possibilities that increase and optimize diffusion since slow diffusion in the electrolyte limits the rate of the process (Levich, 1947; Moats et al., 2000; Subbaiah and Das, 1989)."

The flotation efficiency of magnetic concentrate of the Anhui hematite ore, which includes a great quantity of iron-bearing silicates, has been studied through reverse flotation test with a new type of collector Fly-102. The results indicate that collector Fly-102 has a strong adaptability to the variation of temperature, when the flotation temperature is in the range of 10? to 35?, using collector Fly-102 can obtain good flotation indexes. Collector Fly-102 has a strong adaptability to the variation of the slime contents and grades of the flotation samples. When the content of slime and the grade of the flotation feeds are 30% and 55.63% respectively, under the condition that the temperature is 15?, the open circuit flotation test was carried out with collector Fly-102. After one-stage roughing, one-stage cleaning and two-stage scavenging, a better result is got, the grade of iron concentrate reaches 67.12%, and the recovery of iron concentrate comes up to 84.15%.

Liberation is one of the major purposes of comminution in mineral processing. In the simplest form, two or more minerals are present in a particle and have to be reduced such that the individual particles contain only one mineral. The complexity of the mineral intergrowth varies from ore to ore. Poor magnetic separation of iron ore may have many causes. In this paper, the emphasis is given to the problem of fine magnetite inclusions in quartz or other gangue minerals. This is highlighted by two Norwegian cases: one on a magnetite ore and the other on a hematite/magnetite ore. The inclusions in question are so small that they are not liberated by reasonable grinding. In both cases, the result has been either poor recovery or lower grade concentrates than desired. The first example concerns production of direct reduction concentrates from magnetite. Magnetic inclusions in gangue particles will be magnetized enough for the particles to pass into the concentrate. The second example is given a more detailed study, where the problem is caused by silicates with small inclusions of magnetite in a combined LIMS and WHIMS separation. This study included microscopy, Davies tube testing, and magnetization measurements. In particular, large gangue particles with magnetite inclusions were shown to have a tendency to bypass the LIMS separators as drag forces in presence of hematite are large. Such particles will then be picked up by the WHIMS as their magnetization is higher than for hematite. This was demonstrated by Davies tube tests, which indicated that such particles were picked up in preference to hematite particles. However, the Davies results did not give a good quantification. Magnetization measurements of gangue particles with magnetite inclusions was shown to be a better tool to quantify the magnitude of the effect of magnetite inclusions in magnetic separation.

Empirical models used for predicting the performance of screens on the basis of capacity, cut size, water split and grade efficiency curves were evaluated. This paper reports experimental results obtained with single-deck Derrick screens. The performance of the screen was tested with limestone in a separate screen set-up, in a pilot plant and in industrial scale test runs. The results of pilot plant experiments showed that the measured water split was higher than the measured bypass. This is an indication to that water flow does not entrain the same proportion of all fine particles present in the feed which is advantageous for screening. The experimental design for the industrial test runs was made on the basis of the pilot plant tests. Suitability of the existing models has been checked and accuracy compared. The tests showed that best grade efficiency model was the Rosin-Rammler model. An empirical model for the evaluation of the model parameters as a function of pulp density of the feed and the load of the screen is suggested.

"Because of the similar crystal structure and surface properties, it is very difficult to realize the efficient separation of magnesite and dolomite by flotation, which is the main reason restricting the utilization of magnesite resources with dolomite symbiotic. To deal with a magnesite resources with high content of calcium impurity in northwest China, a novel decalcification technology by combining flotation with leaching is proposed in this paper. In flotation process, a novel flotation collector with good efficiency and low temperature resistance was developed, and the depression effect of sodium hexametaphosphate was investigated. In leaching process, the leaching rate difference of calcium and magnesium was observed. By industrial test, from the magnesite ore with MgO content of 43.96%,the grade and recovery of obtained concentrate ( calculated by MgO) are 47.28% and 67.68% respectively, at the same time, CaO content decreases from 3.91% to 0.30%, which means that more than 95% of CaO impurity is removed.INTRODUCTIONMagnesite is one of the main raw materials for the production of refractory materials, and it is widely used in metallurgy, chemicals, ceramic, construction and other industries. China is the most important supplier of highquality magnesite resources, accounting for about 60-70% of the world's identified supply of magnesite products is provide by China (Jewell, 2014). In recent years, high-quality magnesite ores can be directly used are going to run out in China, and the utilization of magnesite resources with high impurity content have drawn more attention.The main purpose of purification for magnesite is to remove SiO2 and CaO impurities which affects the strength of the refractory material. Flotation is the commonly used method to remove impurities in magnesite ore. Reverse flotation with cationic collector is usually adopted to remove silicon containing impurities, and a great deal of literature has been reported (Santana A. N. and Peres A. E. C., 2001; Wang and Sun, 2008; Zhu et al, 2014; Wu et al, 2015; Ivan B. et al, 2017). But when the major gangue component is dolomite, it is very difficult to realize the efficient separation due to the similar crystal structure and surface properties between magnesite and dolomite. To solve this problem, researches have studied the surface properties of magnesite and dolomite, such as wettability, electrical property, solubility and solution chemistry (Nermin and Nurgul, 2006; Nermin 2006; Ozbek and Abali, 1999; Lacin et al, 2005; Bayrak et al, 2006; Bakan et al, 2006; Chen G. and Tao D., 2004), but the commonly studied direct flotation using oleic acid as collector is still hard to receive an ideal effect."

Experiment results and operation practice on reutilizing old tailings dumped at SCIM (Shang-chang Iron Mine) of KISCO (Kunming Iron and Steel Corp.) are presented. In a production period over 30 years SCIM dumped about 8 million tons of iron ore tailings. For improving resources utilization instead of wasting, experiments on processing for reutilization of the old tailings are con-ducted. These tailings are fine size fractions of weathered iluvial ores rejected out by classification- des-liming in ore washing and dressing processes, containing TFe 21%~22% in hematite mainly and limonite occasionally. Their particle size distribution, in average, is of 72.26% minus 0.037mm and 30.88% minus 0.005mm. Existence of plenty of micro-fine particles makes the tailings refractory to process, resulting in poor metallurgy. The whole sample of the old tailings without size-classification is fed into experimental process. Slon-100 type high grads WHIMS (wet high intensity magnetic separator) with cyc-pulsing is adopted, which magnetism-focusing rod?s diameter is changed from 3mm into 2mm. Operational conditions of optimizing rougher separation tests are strengthened. An iron concentrate assaying 52.21% Fe at quantity rate of 18.39% and iron recovery of 44.40% is obtained. Operational practice shows that metallurgy and economy of the old tailings treatment are close to what achieved at experiments. It is estimated, therefore, that some 1.4 million tons of this iron concentrate may be recovered from the old tailings. This means that KISCO has moved its key one-step in re-mining and reutilizing the secondary resources, which would be a good demonstration in this industry. This is also of social and economic significance in response to China government?s request on reducing consumption of resources and establishing society with economy for achieving sustainable development.

Extensive exploration for uranium metal by the Department of Atomic Energy in India led to the discovery of new carbonate host rock uranium deposits Tummalapalle and Gogi, which are located in southern part of India. Alkaline leaching at elevated temperature and pressure using autoclave is the central unit process in the overall strategy for extraction of uranium from these new ore deposits. Autoclave leaching is affected largely by intrinsic nature of the ore and by the process variables and the equipment settings. In order to understand such a complex process and also to be able to predict the process performance under randomly (ore grade, uranium mineralogy, gangue mineralogy etc.) and consciously perturbed variable settings (partial pressure of oxygen, temperature, concentration of leachant, stirring speed and time), sound and robust mathematical models are needed with analytical and/or numerical solutions. Present investigation attempts to develop a variant of kinetic correlation based on shrinking core model for batch alkaline leaching process in an autoclave. The leaching model incorporates particle size distribution according to popular Gates-Gaudin-Schuhmann equation, rather than assuming a single mean size for all the particles participating in the leaching reaction. Kinetic experimental data generated in autoclave leaching of Gogi uranium ore was used to evaluate various constants of the model developed. The ore sample used for experiments assayed 0.21 per cent U3O8. The partial pressure of oxygen was varied between 0.15 to 6.5 atm, temperature from 343 K to 438 K, concentration of sodium carbonate leachant in the range 0.47 g mol/L to 0.94 g mol/L, and the stirring speed from 573 rev/min to 900 rev/min in the experiments. The goodness of fit of the leaching process model is found to be >0.95. Morphological studies carried out on leached and unleached particulate matter using Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X ray analyses are included in the present study.

The production of electric and electronic equipment (EEE) is one of the fastest growing areas. This development has resulted in an increase of waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE). In view of the environmental problems involved in the management of WEEE, many counties and organizations have drafted national legislation to improve the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce disposal. Recycling of WEEE is an important subject not only from the point of waste treatment but also from the recovery of valuable materials. Consumer electronic equipment (brown goods), such as television sets (TV), radio sets, and video recorders, are most common. However, recent work on recycling of waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) primarily focused on personal computer and printed circuit boards scraps. Based on a detailed characterization study of consumer electronic scraps, recycling of TV scraps oriented to recovery of metals is highlighted by utilizing air table separation, eddy current separation, and optical (metal) sorting process. The result indicates that a high recovery of copper could be obtained by utilizing an effective gravity separation process. The separation results reveal that air table separation is an effective technology to recover metals from consumer electronic scraps. By using a DGS table, approximately 90% of non-ferrous metals were recovered in the heavy product with a purity of 40%. Printed circuit boards and cables in TV scrap cause metals loss due to the fact that metals in printed circuit boards and cables are not liberated from plastics and ceramic materials. The study shows that eddy current separation and optical (metal) sorting process provide alternatives for recovery of metals from shredded TV scraps.
