Abstract

This paper presents the design approach case study for incorporating a Technogrid® conveyance End-of-wind arresting system within the new South32 Hermosa headframe. Focus is placed on energy absorption requirements, structural integration, and mounting details tailored to the geometry and operational constraints of the headframe. Key considerations include arresting forces, load path continuity, and connection design to ensure reliability and maintainability. The paper also discusses coordination with other headframe systems and the iterative design process used to meet safety standards and client objectives.
