The following methods should be used to protect miners from the adverse health effects of exposure to respirable coal mine dust and respirable crystalline silica:     ? Informing workers about hazards     ? Establishing written emergency procedures     ? Using engineering controls, work practices, and personal protective equipment (including respiratory protection when dust control equipment is being installed, maintained, or repaired)     ? Monitoring exposures    ? Conducting medical screening and surveillance     ? Encouraging smoking cessation     ? Maintaining medical records
